I disagree. Darkfall's major failing was not its game engine. The game was stable enough, it was just the lack of content and the grind that killed Darkfall. In fact, Darkfall may have the better MMO engine. I'm not too impressed by what MO has been able to handle thus far in terms of crashes/numbers. Either way, Mortal Online sounds better than DF because of the content, but we'll see how much of it actually gets put in (and how it gets put in). MO hasn't done anything to warrant any real praise yet. But it's definitely worth keeping an eye on. |

Perception is a figmentation of what is generally accepted as imagination. |
One thing that does spring to mind though is that the likely hood is that you will need a hypothetical super computer to play this game which will most likely alienate a vast majority of MMO players and thus will make this game appeal to a niche of players, would anyone disagree? |

well the MO beta has been a disaster so far. Just like Darkfall has been a disaster. They both are made by small independent developers, with first person view, open pvp, full looting. So in many ways they are exactly the same. So don't give me this nonsense that they are nothing alike. Oh, and thats another thing they have in common. Arrogant, out of control fanbois like you.
Protip: Beta does not mean "Free me time play game Stomp noobs want" SV has been very clear about what each phase is testing and what you can expect. But i suppose even child covers on power outlets wont stop the stupid from jamming the fork in.

Beta pahses are messured by bugs fixed per week. By this measure you can say that MO beta has been very successful. |

It's really difficult to make predictions that hold any merit about how good or successful MO will be. It is extremely early in the beta stages, and who knows how much they will get done before the game's release, or if it will even release on time?
I do hope that they learn from Darkfall's mistakes though, and release a balanced, quality game that will last. |

YAWN, this song is getting old and boring. How about a new troll line, I am sure can come up with one, since the game is far from alpha but then you probably don't actually know that do you? Tell us about your alpha experience. Since MMORPG doesn't allow talking about betas and by your own admission the game is in alpha they shouldn't care. |

MO is still in Beta, DFO has been released. Can't really compare the 2 at this moment. MO doesn't even have all of the systems available for testing yet. Not until late beta/early release can you say that MO = prettier DFO. MO isn't releasing until Q4 anyways, so we can't expect anything untl october at the earliest. |

Actually : "The launch of Mortal Online is planned for Q4 2009 (Oct-Dec). This is not set in stone however, as we want all core features to be in place and properly tested before charging monthly subscriptions. We do not guarantee a specific release date for Mortal Online."

Except unlike Aventurine they don't have loans to pay interest on, so they can keep the beta test phase going for a long time with the money from preorders. Whether they choose to do so, is another matter, but StarVault is unlikely to be forced to release MO early due to debt. |

The only reason why you can have so many people in close proximity is because of the low polygon count and crappy animations. If you want an engine that can handle alot of people aswell as looking good then check out Aions engine. That game has a great engine (but crappy WoW clone game though). "Great" engine with auto-targeting, aiming mechanics which means no sofisticated lag compensation, movement prediction, hit detection and probably not even collision detection. Don't compare things which shouldn't be compared. |

I gotta stop reading these forums apparently this is just driving me nuts. Why the hell are you people comparing a non released game with a released game..... It makes absolutely no sense, when the game is released than compare but atm whats the fucking point. Its like saying my future brother is going to be taller than your brother when he grows up, there are absolutely no proof of your statement. ![]() Damnant quod non intellegunt

It's always "my game which I'm playing now, and won't be playing after half year, is better than not released game YOU are interested in". Of course it's a good reason to talk about this in 2 out of 3 threads. I wish ubi created a mmo game based on dark messiah - oh wth, just a medieval fantasy lore. But hey, SV is doing it :) -- Remember, your advantage lies in your opponent's weakness (J) |

Maybe if everything from now on goes exactly as planned, but that's so unlikely it's barely worth mentioning. That said, though, I see no reason to doubt the devs when they say most content hasn't been rolled out yet. It makes perfect sense to work on server stability and scalable level of detail to avoid OOM issues before introducing more features that have only been tested internally. That process, and testing remaining features, is very likely to take a lot longer than anticipated, though. Hopefully the money from preorders will be enough for them to delay the release if this is necessary. Everyone who preordered is in the beta anyway, so a delay won't cause an uproar in the community. :p |

ghoul thing is, is there is no concrete release date atm and they have stated this, Q4 of 2009 was what they hoped to aim for but games are pushed back all the time, especially MMO's. So to me in the MMO genre unless the game has been shipped its still an unfinished product because they can always announce that the release date has been pushed back simple as that.
The people like me actually think about what we say, we don't compare an unfinished product to a finished one because its pure speculation of how it will turn out.
How the hell do you know they are rewriting the game they could possibly have most of the stuff finished we don't know what they finished before the preorders, so keep an open mind..... ![]() Damnant quod non intellegunt

A Ferrari and a Fiesta are the same thing. They both have doors, tires, windows.. hell, they even have seats! Obviously the same things with slight variations! //|//|// |

Sure when they are finished, but a Ferrari compared to a Fiesta thats still on the assembly line, you cant compare them evenly.
So basically comparing DF to MO is like comparing 2 Ferrari's one fully built, engine and all, than MO being the one with the framework done but the engine and what not are still waiting to be put in. ![]() Damnant quod non intellegunt

Basically since car terminology was brought up so far ill use it like that, basically like I said before DF is a finished Ferrari, only it was built with cheap parts so its lacking because the creators didn't give it the attention it needed.
MO has already announced what they plan to get in for release and I have no doubt they will get it in, by Q4 of 2009 im not to sure about but I believe they will push the release date back before going back on their word.
DF released their product claiming that it was finished, but people got into it found out it was an unfinished PoS, all im saying is don't compare MO thats a game still in development to DF a game that was released by a company that claimed it was finished. Only thing the games have in common atm is the fact that both games are FFA PvP with Full Loot that is it. ![]() Damnant quod non intellegunt
