I'd come back and give this game a try if they would give a real "10 day trial", i would ask turn my account on for 10 days like LOTRO does all the time.  What am i really gonna see about t4 changes with 10 days and a lvl 1 character?  TURN ALL accounts on for 10 days,, send emails to all those old users saying "hey your account is on, come play for 10 days for free" and see how many ppl resub at the end of 10 days... wanted to post this on their forums, but had issues trying to log in there, i can log in "my account" but not the forums...someone link this there

Keep dreaming Mythic not gonna give you the opportunity to see that faction imbalance has gone downhill since 1.2, so much that only 6 North American servers are left. They merged the 2 oceanic servers to NA too.

After 22 sept. T4 will be empty. Check the forums, many large guild left, many long time players too. Signature from players in forums now contain "cancelled" "going to Aion", etc...

On the bright side Mythic has no one to blame but themselves and EA. Now, I'm just scared some of those stupid devs might work on StarWars...

Well, I really really hope that they are only allowed to participate in minor things, like getting coffe and stuff...   The BioWare crew should be doin the game parts!

Man, SWTOR is almost like my last hope for mmo's after all these failures that been around the last years!

I have a suspicion that this game is going to go to a f2p/cash shop model soonish, so we'll all get a chance to try it again for free.

Heck if it was f2p T1-T3 I think there would be a bunch of folks playing.

T4 is what is a disaster

Maybe if we got T1-T3 f2p and got payed a little to play T4 then the game could actually survive?  ;)

SWTOR looked quite bad in the gameplay videos released recently. However it's still in alpha so lots could change.

The T4 changes aren't enough to get people back.

I spent many many hours building chars on one server.  That servers population fell, and they gave us a chance to move all our chars to another server.  I had to rename over 10 characters (after i spent a lot of time coming up with the names of my existing chars.)  The new server was still unpopulated, and boring.  A month later, they gave us another 'opportunity' to change servers yet again.

I decided to build another set of characters on a thriving server, and give up all the hours of work on my primary set.  WAS A BLAST.  PvP in the zones, lots going on , fun as a hell.   I built almost every class up to T4 (which sucked btw, which is why I built so many up to T4 and started another class)  Then I get a message saying two of my chars names were not up to the 'moral majority's standards, and I needed to rename AGAIN.  But, oh no, they wouldn't let me pick my name, they only gave me some random crappy random "oblok" name generator crap.

The names were "Tramp Stamp" on a Witch Elf and "Dopamine" on a Rune Priest.

Tramp Stamp is just a term for a lower back tattoo on a female.  Too much for your right-wing moral majority eh?

Dopamine is simply a chemical in YOUR brain and everyone's brains that causes pleasure.  It's an anatomical part of your brain.  Again, wow right-wing stamping down on my playtime.

That straw broke the camels back.  I quit.  I'll never go back, and I miss it.  I"m here posting because I can't find a good game equivalent to a fully-populated server t1-t3 in WHO.  Hard to believe they screwed this game up so badly, when I think most PVP lovers agree it's FUN!

I didn't quit because of some whiny specific nerf, wah.  I quit because they kept f****** with my gameplay, and frankly ruining it for me.  Nothing like abandoning 100 hours of work on a character set because a MASSIVELY MULTI-PLAYER game is unpopulated and run by right-wing nazis (that may be a bit over-exaggerated, but you get my drift)

I pre-ordered AION and haven't played the beta, so HOPING it's a decent game.  I've done so many damn quests across so many games, I'm kinda sick of killing 6 of these, and gathering 7 of those.

I paid the $10 to download and play LoTRO for a month to see what's up with it.  They DIDN'T BUILD A PLAYABLE ORC / Sauron faction to PVP with!  I couldn't believe it.  I gathered 6 of these and killed 7 of those before I realized it's just another BOH-RING quester cut from hundreds of other cookie-cutters.  Cancelled already, and pissed I wasted $10

Darkfall was supposed to be great, so much hype and buzz, and now apparently it sucks as well.  Star Wars is still over a year off and it's the closest thing other than AION, from what I' ve found, that has the possibility of being decent.  I never tried Age of Conan, maybe I will now..... ?!

I played with a toon named Dopamine in DDO once, maybe it was you :). At any rate population problems was my problem with Warhammer as well. If people would play i would as well because the time i spent in the game  was fun but low population was one reason the PQ's failed i think.

It has to be true, i have internet links.

Yeah, I'm 'guessing'  that controlling the population on servers in this open-world pvp environment is their downfall.  They did a HORRIBLE job of it.  From the start they should have made sure that all servers were as packed as possible, but what they did instead, was just plan (from a systems engineering perspective) to ensure there would be plenty of server space for all new subscribers.  Spread us out way to thin from the beginning.  Should have opened 10 servers, fill them up, then opened 10 more, etc.  A lot of people would have had more fun, less hassle, and would have possibly stayed playing.  Server migrations FTL.

That was an extremely dumb thing to do. Aion is the height of generic kill n collect quests. If you hated WAR for them, you will kill yourself over Aion. The amount of generic quests in Aion is 2x more than that of WAR. Have fun with the pre-order, but if I were you, I'd get a refund if you don't like that kind of gameplay.

I played Aion beta and found out that it's not that good and happy now in WAR until SWTOR.

It just was not fun.

It wasn't just the too many servers, it was the bugs and clunkyness of the game.  That had less people interested too. Than, when people got past 25, and the CC and major bugs that had not gotten proper testing came out, people started leaving, which led to faster empty servers, which meant less people to play with, which caused boredom and more people to leave. It really snowballed quick.

Well, I just quote you for the comment about past rank 25 and the CC. That's right, we have seen since launch people complaining about CC at higher ranks and how it makes the game unfun. Acutally it has been one of the main complains about the game and a reason why people (mostly melees) are waiting for another PvP game.

But I wonder : Have people switching over Aion, due WAR's combat flow & CC, checked Aion's CC skills? They will have a nasty surprise. It is like running from the little fish just to meet the fat shark.

As for me, I will maintain my WAR account while playing Aion. Everybody has his reasons, I see a lot of things Aion has that WAR lacks, like proper crafting skills (and system) and better PvE, but I don't think I will like Aion's PvP combat over WAR long term, for what I have seen by now. I will be doing ORvR and Scenarios while satisfying my PvE and crafting desires at Aion (With a bit of world PvP aswell) and meanwhile praying Mythic can ressurrect WAR (Not that I think it is dead yet) in a not so far future with a good few patches or a well done expansion.

I came back the day they announce the veterans free to play for 12 days thing or whatever it was they had a few months ago, before the the land of the dead came out.  The game is still the same.  Not very good.  The devs either were rushed to put out a game or they just aren't very good.

Mythic in general isn't very good.  I mean seriously, they barely got the mailbox system in time for release, and it was bugged for months after that. Mailbox system....

They should have re-focused their resources away from that stupid road to war website and instead focused more on developing the game right before release.  I guess it wouldn't have made much of a difference but it speaks loudly for the management of mythic.

Yes I agree with you that game was at bad shape then, now with 1.3.1 and 1.3.2 there are lot of positive changes, not saying you should come back. They also have started to listen to players more or at least speak out more and focus on the areas that we want improved now - RvR, apparently forts get unpaired from T4 and so forth. Naturally there are zergs but 1.3.2 will bring "underdog" system and other new things that should help the T4 congestion in one zone because after 1.3.2 there will be 3 zones per pairing to fight in rather than just one - how this will work remains to be seen.

Oh and 1.3.1 also brought plethora of good changes, so when you get chance to try it out again, suggest you do so.

I bet after 1.3.2 they will give trials again as at least on paper changes look good, not perfect but step in the right direction.

Well, any game is going to have boring pve quests.  But, the question is, does it have good PVP?  LOTRO had zero pvp from what I could gather (in a game universe that should have LOTS imho)

It seems, and I haven't really done my research here, that AION will have lots of PVP.  Whether it's good or not, no idea.

LOTRO has it's PvMP and it's good (you can argue with this, but you have to show me more than my 6 months in Ettenmoors to convince anyone).

And IMHO Turbine made the right decision to not turn LOTRO into full PvP-game. What's the main point in LOTRO is the lore and story. Their epic quest lines (or books as they are called) take the story onwards and make the game worth playing.

But OT: Looks like WAR has sadly reached ground zero and Aion release will take the Killing Blow from it. This game lives and dies on it's population and it doesn't look good.

This. I know a lot of people had problems with WAR, but while my friends and I were generally satisfied with the game it was the population problems that drove us away. Had they used something like the one-server/shard system of Champions Online I believe the game would be generally healthy today. Whenever there was lots of activity around I had a blast, some of the most fun I've ever had in an MMO. But when it was barren and scenarios took forever to pop, you could feel the stench of death about the game. Sad, really, because there are so many great ideas in this title.

Now that summer is over lot of people have started playing again and I believe it's more enjoyable to have 100vs100 fights than 300vs300 :)
