I did just see my first ad for Darkfall....here on MMORPG.com. Never did i think i would see one here of all places.  How long have it been there?

Thoughts!

A week or so I believe, maybe a little longer, but not much.  As far as thoughts, I don't know what to think.  They didn't do much marketing other than word of mouth before, so what changed?  Did they decide they couldn't get enough players coming in strictly from word of mouth anymore?  Only they really know the answer to that.

 I followed Darkfall for years, and from what i know...they didnt do any marketing at all! Nothing. 

And suddenly a a big red "Buy Darkfall here" button. Weird. 

And why not. Every other game have big "Buy here" buttons here.

Longer than a week, I know that.  I want to say I started seeing it a little over a month ago.

I haven't seen it yet. Maybe I'm not looking at the right place. Where did you guys see it?

I haven't seen it once either.

Main page, ad space beneath the latest features thing.  Shows up from time to time.

front page near the recent threads list. It sorta luck of the draw as it seems to rotate through a number of different ads. I saw it about a week ago and only seen it once since.

Glad someone brought up this ad because I've got to ask: In all seriousness is the character animation shown in that ad the actual in game animation? Because it looks terrible. I've never played Darkfall so I am suprised by that level of animation.

Darkfall's graphics are bit undermined in the ad on this website, but do keep in mind the the graphics in general are par. The armor and characters are detailed and  the environment is done well, but draw distances and the terrain can be a little disappointing. I run the specs on max (1600x900) with a moderate computer (AMD Phenom x3, radeon 4870, 4GB RAM) and don't have much of a problem with what I have experienced. Sometimes when larger scale PvP battles happen -- with 40-60 mounted characters running around -- things can get a little shaky.

If you have other questions, please ask! Darkfall is a great game in my honest opinion, but that's because it's different than the general MMO. This being said, I will make sure I am unbiased when I answer any of your questions.

Personally i have no problem with the animations. Its about the same as for any other MMO. 

But i guess animations is the price you need to pay for the freedom and open gameplay. There are no loading screens or instances. You can run/swim/ride/sail from one side of the world to the other with out stopping once.  

The ad show footage that is over one year old. But trust me, DF looks beautiful when you play it.

Moderate would imply average and that computer is FAR from average or moderate. The average computer is a $600 Dell that mommy uses for web browsing with an integrated graphics and sound chip with a gig of ram.

Yes the ad is fairly accurate as to the graphics and animations.

No you dont have to sacrifice animations for open gameplay and freedom. The art team did a fairly good job with the world but whoever did the animations should be shot and left to bleed. They are on par with Morrowind as far as the melee ones go.

I think all sites like mmorpg.com do free adds for games in return for interviews and such. doubt darkfall is advertised anywhere else.

Well then you should be a good son and go make the EXACT computer I made myself a week ago for $600. The card I listed is $129 and the processor was $125. You can get better deals than this buying things in combo deals, but of course you wouldn't know about this because you... ahh, whats the bother.

Oh please great computer god list everything you bought and what great prices you got it all for.

I can't wait to get a good chuckle at the crap that you bought for $600 to build a "better then average" computer. Did you take advantage of one of those Tiger ads with the $299 computer that has a crap case and PS that will last a couple of months then fry your components?

Please enlighten me with your knowledge, I deal with the "average" computer user on a daily basis and the Dell / HP I mentioned is what 99% of them have. They don't build their own boxes.
