So I've been wondering for about a week now. Is City of Heros still popular or has champions online took it and killed it? Just looking for which one is better.

It's a little early to announce your eulogy for CoX. The fact remains that CoX is a more mature MMO and offers more than Champions ONline does (which is only a week old). I wager many who played and enjoyed CoX will play and enjoy champions. HOwever it is way to early to tell if champions will remove any or all of CoX's  players

Champions Online is a more "generic MMORPG" than CoX, which isn't necessarily something bad if that's what you're looking for. My suggestion regardless is to try Champions Online before CoX as I personally think CO has a lot more potential and is kind of a CoX but hotted up.
