Meet the new boss, same as the old boss.

I played CoX for a few months, it was fun up until the late 30s when it was just getting to repetative to continue subscribing. I enjoyed the fast-paced combat and love superheros, nice break from elves and orcs. How is Champions? I followed it before May, but had to do some "world travelling" for 3 months and lost track of it. Now that it's out, (I missed beta) I'm wondering if it's worth buying, and even subbing after that.

No fanboys *cough* Horkathane *cough* please, as I don't care you think this game is the second coming of Christ. I want real opinions.

There have been lots of updates and changes since beta, so the play experience has shifted from what might have been initially reported.

Actually I think it is something you like or dislike as a title. It does lack long-term content - although Cryptic is promising to keep the content packs coming out - but offers more flexibility in character creation than pretty much any other MMO title you could name. Combat is pretty fast, but some find it repetitive.

If you've got money to burn, buy a box copy and try it out. Try a couple of different characters and see how it feels to you (it is a very different game to CoH/V in a lot of ways). Alternatively, wait for a free trial if you want to save the cash.

Thought it was excellent in the beginning, alot different from CoX, better looking, and powers were fun, but it never really had anything in it to keep me going.  Not that its bad by any means, just not something that looks to last very long.  Seemed like every power type was basically the same, with small differences (darkness fears, ice slows etc) and ranged was the way to go in pvp.  I guess I'm more traditional. I want healers and tanks etc, never thought you would see "LFG ice guy only, pst." or anything.  Maybe later on it gets more in depth, as I only made it to lvl 25.  But sadly there wasnt enough interest for me to go beyond that.
