http://www.escapistmagazine.com/articles/view/issues/issue_213/6341-Casualty-of-Warhammer.4 I like the way he blames WOW (lich king), gold farmers, cheaters but fails to mention all this games shortcomings and failures, that is the real reason this game is failing.
I wish Mythic developers would stop blaming external sources as their downfall and point the finger directly at themselves. |

Cheaters and gold farmers were pretty minor issues, overall. When I played I didn't see a single cheater, and the gold ads was only a problem for a week or two - and even then it wasn't as bad as say, World of WarCraft's gold ads have been for multiple years and still is. World of WarCraft is doing fine despite players getting spammed with gold ads. I think it's more likely the players simply didn't find WAR fun enough to stay. |

An article from the inside of a fired employee? Why was the article inside him? Did he eat it because he changed his mind about it and didnt want anyone to see it? Or did someone insert it into him? Or did he have to insert it into himself at some point for some reason? Was surgery used to get to this valuable document? I certainly hope not as thats a complete lack of respect for privacy. |

Depends on the route they used. |

I'm not surprised they were all fired, the game is an unmitigated disaster. As for the writer of the article, I'd be very surprised if he got a job as a journalist either - I found it tedious. |

"I still visit the lands of Warhammer occasionally. I doubt the subscription numbers will ever be what they once were, but fresh content, new Mac compatibility and news of a merger with BioWare give me hope that Praag will burn for years to come."
What makes the idiot think a merger with Bioware is going to help WAR? Does he honestly think Bioware would waste their talent on a game so far down the road to failure? Even EA couldn't force the Doctors to do that. EA: "We want you to revamp WAR for us." Bioware: "Sure thing, we'll just tell Lucas to find another company because we have to work on yesterday's shit." EA: "Screw WAR. Forget we said anything." |

The Looming Shadow This is where the villain of our story comes in. Enter the Lich King. Our release date put Warhammer Online: Age of Reckoning on store shelves about two months before the long-awaited expansion to WoW, the biggest, most popular MMOG of all time. My coworkers, many of whom were loyal, max-level Blizzard fans, assured me that it wasn't a big deal. They acted as though gamers had room in their hearts and on their hard drives for two Orcs-and-Elves fantasy MMOGs with roughly the same gameplay. The people around me spoke with such optimism and confidence that I assumed they knew what they were talking about. I was a console gamer; what did I know? Short version: "Our game was second rate crap and we knew it. Blizzard was set to bulldoze us. We started emptying our desks and pocketing office supplies." Also this... In February, the Big One finally hit. This one was supposedly due to the parent company's financial woes, not our subscription numbers - those had actually stayed fairly constant for the last few months. Going from almost 800,000 players to under 300,000 (using his own numbers) in a few months is not "staying fairly consistant". This is entering the realm of having EA hire a band to come in and play,"Nearer, My God, to Thee". I know this guy was just a CSR but WoW, cheaters, and Gold Farmers weren't even an issue here. |
