Ive been talking about this with my irl friends for a long time, due to the fact that most of them like FPSs and I like MMOs.  My question is, would a MMOFPSRPG work?  Im not talking about a counter strike rip off where all you do is just shoot each other over and over again, im talking about a real MMO where you would build your character, explore the world and quest, all done in first person.  Oblivion has proven that a first person RPG was a great idea (at least it did for me, im not sure about anyone else)  But what if it was to go online? Would it be fun?  Or lets say a SciFi MMO in first person.  I for one would love to see a good old MMO in first person, as it would make me feel more apart of the game, rather then just have a character in it.  Any other thoughts?

MMORPG Character Monuments

...When its time for your character to take a well deserved rest...

Most MMOs allow you to adjust the camera such that you move in 1st person. The 3rd person omnicient view is just superior and has distinct advantages in PvP.

You may want to look at Darkfall, where the camera is restricted and has many FPS qualities. However dont expect a lot of well developed PVE or questing ..it is a PVP game

Darkfall got the medieval version, along with Mortal online.

I don't know a sci-fi version though

Maybe a PvP FPS would work but I don't see a PvE one working as well... maybe if there was a camera for 3rd person within the FPSRPG. Despite what people on forums think (forum goers are an extreme minority) pretty much all of the FPSMMOs have not done to well and don't really appeal to the majority of RPG gamers outside of the niche crowd.

Take any suggestions and opinions on forums as extremely biased since we are the minorities in the genres community.

The idea isn't really completely new.

Check out Mortal Online, Fallen Earth, and upcoming Earthrise. (I know not all these are strict FPS, but you can play that way if you like.)

Playing: Fallen Earth, Aion
Retired: WoW, AoC, LOTRO, Requiem.
Prospects:FFXIV, C9, TERA.

Asheron's Call fits the description.  Now if only we could convince Turbine to make an AC3.

I can't believe I'm playing EQ1 again...and having tons of fun
