Just successfully patched (it took so long I feared it was dling again!) and tested. Got the G15 error covered elsewhere and also a new cinematic - is this new (didn't see it on the old version when testing the patch had worked)? Saved me for reading through a load of lore anyway so thumbs up. |

I spent almost 1 hour to download and install the game only to find out that you need a key for entering open beta? Will there be any key handouts before it start? |

You have to keep in mind that many players think that open beta equals to free trial. "The person who experiences greatness must have a feeling for the myth he is in." |

Because thats hows it been for past 10 years. but lately some mofos think that they can change it. They shouldnt use the term Open Beta in that case, but come up with something new, like AOB (almoust open beta) SOB (selective open beta). |

Not only did it have a new cinematic trailer (the first time opening) but you also see a different splash screen during the closing process.
When you go into the NCSoft Launcher you should be able to right click on AION and select properties and it will tell you your vs. vs the client side vs. and they should be the same. Can't wait for the 6th (for me the 8th since I have Labor day plans). |

Really? So thats back to 1999 which was when EQ was released. So you are saying that every game since and including EQ (i.e. every MMORPG using 3d graphics) had open betas that absolutely anyone could jump into. Can you provide a list of every such game please? |

Do people that were in the closed beta have to download the "open beta client" or do we just patch? |

How many of you are using the torrent file and how was the DL speed? The launch patcher is painfully slow now and I have been DL for 20+ hours. Also is there a way to view progress of DL on launcher? |

The Open Beta itself means it is Open , free for everyone to stress test servers ( which can not be made if you want people to subscribe in some dumb site). It's not about the 3 or 5 $ or whatever , it's about most people don't just want to throw their 3 or 5 $ into something they didn't know. Which breaks the idea of a stress test. Anyway,i will list few games i have been in for OPEN betas past 10 years: Lineage2 - FREE open beta EVE -FREE open beta WoW -FREE open beta Guild Wars -FREE open beta events Tabula Rasa - FREE open beta Anarchy Online - FREE open beta F2P don't count lol

As excited as I am for Aion I have to agree. This is a bit of a wierd open beta. I come from a world where terminology is very precise. I.e. "bit" has a specific meaning-"byte" has a specific, slightly different, meaning. Open and closed have specific meanings. In my opinion this is more of an extended, more populated, closed beta. Not necessarily an OB. They shoulda just called it CBT event #7... but stil...I'm excited. MMO's are the ark of the gaming world. Let it take us in new directions. |

So if I run up to gamestop right now and pre-order this I should get a key that gets me into open beta? Have Played: EQ1, EQ2, WoW, WAR, Vanguard, EvE, Requiem, PW, Lotro, Lineage2, AoC, SWG... |

When I first loaded the beta software from disk and patched in a month ago I don't recall it taking an excessive amount of time. However, when the Open beta code was automatically updated via the NCSoft launcher it "trickled" files from Friday through this morning, many times at very slow speeds. (sometimes as slow as 15KB's/sec). Sunday was really bad, the launcher popped up regularly saying to was reconnecting or retrying, but eventually all the files appear to be loaded and ready to go. I don't think there is a quick and easy way to do it, perhaps the FP download was better?

You don't have to suscribe to FilePlanet to get a key, they will eventually offer it to all registered members like they do with all their keys... Not only that but Fileplanet isnt going to be the only one distributing keys, TenTonHammer is giving them away and a bunch of other sites... MMORPG will more than likely give them away as well.. |

Most I've ever had to do is register an account with whomever I'm getting the key from - which was always free when I've done it. 1.For god's sake mmo gamers, enough with the analogies. They're unnecessary and your comparisons are terrible, dissimilar, and illogical. 2.To posters feeling the need to state how f2p really isn't f2p: Players understand the concept. You aren't privy to some secret the rest are missing. You're embarrassing yourself. |
