Go ahead and tear that apart as much as you like. That character has the majority of the things I've done in WotLK. Also, in before lolret... I've also played as prot for friend runs and holy for realm progression with Caustic.

Something people keep tossing into this thread is the thought that I think that I count for more opinion than other people in WoW... really I was just making a review, these are my opinions and MY ratings; if you don't like them, then whatever : / make your own review. Not to sound hostile, but let's quell this insurrection before the thread explodes.

A lot of people keep seeming to think that I'm holding some god-game that already exists as my standard of a 10, but really I don't think there is any aspect of any game released currently that I'd rate a 10. Also, for people who think my ratings are too high in some spots, I'm judging on the culmination of features in each area primarily.

Now I'm gonna go finish my club sandwich while someone disects this post : /... btw it's delicious

I created my account awhile back to get a beta key for a game I wanted to test, my creation date and the WoW review times are irrelevant.

And WHY that 19 year old played WOW for 4 years and paid ... 750 dollars subscription money and would give it a shitty 7.1 rating.

$750... 4 years... WHAT AN INVESTMENT!... WoW is an absurdly cheap timesink hobby. Because a 7.1 is such an terrible rating on a 10 scale... Even if you compare to the official rating on this site it is only a difference of .9; and that was when WotLK was new, before it started getting dull.

Those elements above show me more than anything in that "review".

That's all on you then, buddy.

I could tear apart your armory pro but for the sake of moving this along I'll try to keep it brief. It would be like a shell game anyway because you named 3 different guilds that you claim to have been a part of and 3 different characters that you play or have played. Either way, the main character you claim to be the one you raid the most with, Bublaw, hasn't even finished Uldar (heroic), ToC or CoC (reg or heroic), but you claimed that you and a moderately geared group of friends did ToC from start to finish. Now like I said, I won't get into what character you used or what guild you did it with because frankly we could ping pong that topic all day long. I just want to show readers that either way you slice it you got your jollies in WoW for 4 years and you are now bored with it. No need for a grand exit.

But to list the things that you feel pestered you about WoW before your initial review and the misleading title to draw attention, shows how  you tried to cater to the haters first in hopes of keeping them from labeling you a fanboi, while you delivered your grandstand on why you're no longer choosing to play. Also I did like the way you tried to hide the folly showing in some of your high marks by trying to stick as close to the final point score listed here (by your own admission). You did touch on some of the same things I myself grew tired of before I left back in April. But in your quest to try to appear as a intelligent wow player to the haters, you appeared as just another troll to some of our more rambunctious past and current wow players...

Regardless, I didn't take your review seriously because you didn't take it seriously yourself. The minute you referred to things like lolret and lol-lore you lost me.

WoW is still at its peak.

A very popular game that isn't going to let up anytime soon.

I think its a fair review 71 percent is nt bad for a game that several years old now .I think theres people in these forums that would only be happy with 95 percent and above . I d personally put most other mmorpgs below Warcraft . Proberbly the closest for pve experiance is lord of the rings online which is on a par with warcraft . eve has totally different gameplay so its hard to compare the two but it surpasses warcraft in some ways . I would put age of conan at around 55 percent and warhammer at 45  . so yeah i think the OP has it right .

Barring people being over-the-top and a few people putting words in my mouth to try and strengthen their own arguments, this has been a constructive set of responses. I thank those of you that responded in a well-constructed manner. I will probably be covering a Cataclysm notes review at some point later this week or next week (college classes starting back in), on the next review it will be more of an open discussion, and probably so a bit more in-depth; speculation will be welcome for areas lacking in information.  I'm gonna have to stop viewing on this thread due to classes, but feel free to discuss amongst yourselves about scores and how you would do it (or better yet, take a bit of time and scribble out your own review [genuine, not angry]... once I get a break it'll give me something to read).

In order to retain credibility here, you may want to include that information as soon as you open your mouth.

See how "objective" your review was. You knew EXACTLY how you would end up with a rating lower than this site (which is ALREADY ridiculous low for a game this succesful). And you can't even distinguish your review in relation to what you experienced in the first place.

Meaning your "review" is purely based on time, which is silly as today a NEW young guy of 15 will start playing WOW...

I don't want to read a review that a 15 year old wrote, primarily because it wouldn't be grammatically coherent.  He made a notable effort to give the game a fair review based on a few years of playing it, no one wants to thoroughly review a game right after they buy it unless they are working for a gaming magazine/website, and in reality you can't accurately rate a game until you have experienced all of its odds and ends.

Also, the subscriber count has nothing to do with the quality of the game.  Just because the most people play this does not mean it is the best of the genre.

Up front, no. But back to earlier, his opinion had been built over the course of four years.  If he thought the game was dull, he wouldn't have paid any more money for it obviously?

Your ratings were "lofty" at best for someone just quitting.  While I think rating armories or looking at anything beyond rep (meaning achievements being irrelevant fluff) for determining someone's value of review is a tad tedious...It does make a little bit of sense in the end.  The big question is why write a huge review...should of waited for Aion to hit stores, be out for a while, and a little bit of the fervor to settle a bit...but nonetheless, even then the big review would be 'meh' at best.

I think the saddest thing, is that the summer is so dull & the posts are so enflamed...I almost re-activated my WoW account to toy around with my four-year investment...but I just can't stoop to it, waiting till the Fall line-up to return sanity to myself :)

And zorn, don't quit your day job man...always a delight to read your jumbled ramblings.

Graphics and Overall performance Rating: 9/10

... Jack-of-all-trades, master at some. The flexibility is what really sets WoW apart int his department.

 

I sorry, you've put alot of work in this review, but starting with a 9/10 on graphics was a bad choice. With games with such graphical quality as AoC or Lotro, 9/10 is too much for a graphics engine with 7+ years old.

It seems no one agrees with the 9/10 graphic score =P
