I've played plenty of closed and open betas, and have a preorder in place for Aion and am looking forward to playing it, but I'm definitely not going to play the OB. The reason is that the absolute best part of an MMO for me is when it is new, those first few times when you log in and you have no real idea what the classes can and can't do, what those mysterious buttons at the bottom are all for, what the starting area is like and where it will take you etc - that sense of unknown. OB (and for that CB although in my experience quite a bit changes between CB and release at least in terms of text etc) tends to ruin that for me, and the first few days of the game are then spent just doing something you've already done (albeit with a different class probably). Of course some people enjoy racing ahead to the end and fair do-s to them, in which case knowing the lay of the land, the XP sweet spots etc is a good thing, but for me I'll definitely be avoiding the coming weekend (if my willpower is up to it). Not that I wont download and install the patch - that saves hassle later on. |

Count me in. I'll be getting my game today, but gona wait till its officially launch before i log in. In the meantime i'll just read up the manual and slowly decide which class to roll... Love the first time i step into a new world...

I'll probably log in a bit to see how 1.5 has changed the game. But i rather devote more time to retail release, since i hate the fact my character will deleted .. so theirs no real reason to put much ffort into the OB. I've already given the game enough of a test run the CB. Aion v3 "RELOADED" - A glimpse into the future of the MMO genre http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5PAM0wr7cZ8 |

Will nip into it now and again more so just for creating toons and finalising how my char will look.
Spent a few month on chinese retail trying out classes before CB came and I had burnt out on the early Asmo zones want to keep away from them and keep 1.5 fresh for me. |

Likewise. My girlfriend and I plan to play the game together. I know the experience of discovery for both of us will be diminished if I sneak a peek now. I'd rather just look forward to it. But I'm greatful for so many people posting their impressions of the beta here, so the purchase of two boxes won't be made entirely in the dark. |

Also staying out of OB, I played in the last two weekends of closed betas but I know what character I want to play so I do not see any point of playing low level again before the release. Can't wait for head start :D |

If it ain''t got killing, it ain''t a real video game. |
I'm going to be playing just to ask people what they think of the game so far. It's almost 2010, and I am just not wiling to tolerate clunky graphics while being told that "gameplay is more important than graphics". That excuse won't wash with me any more. I expect my games to have both good graphics and good gameplay. |

I think as the op. So i won't play the beta ^^. I also like to install the game from the cd and updating it, than downloading the beta and updating it. It sometimes gives more problem to update the beta. I also tried to avoid some aion videos, because i want to discover the landscape myself. I just saw the main videos. And i have to admit they were enough (plus some screenshots) to make me wish to play that game ^^.

i will be in for OB but only to figure out how my char will look and to wander around a bit. i haven't played cb at all so i'm keeping it totally fresh. |

I've played most of the closed betas and will be playing the open beta... but just to try the crafting before release to see if I want to get into it or not. I figure I can waste the money on the OB character. :)

My son and I are in this category...we've seen enough of Aion's starter areas and are ready for the actual game to release. Not going to spend much more time in the beta other than to poke around in the abyss a bit. Will be finishing up the avatar looks, and duelling a bit with my wife. Playing: |
|
The only thing I might do is work on my avatar's looks. I still can't decide if I want to use a male or female, and not sure how I want it to look, either. I doubt I will play anymore, because it's going to be a huge waste of time. |

Personally I'm playing the OB. Not hxc like, but definitly playing it. Since I haven't played any of the CB events. I don't plan on even hitting 30 within this OB. I just plan on experiencing the starting gameplay and check out some features. So yeah. Playing: Guild Wars and Exteel |

The best thing about these beta events are getting to see if you want to play a certain class. I played a sorcerer up to 23 in the CB events to find that I might like playing cleric a bit more. It's always good to find that about before I'm invested in the class and everyone has more permanent progress. http://www.excelion-legion.com/ |

I will be playing in the OB, I want to check out the new low lvl instance dungeon. Just not sure what the starting lvl of the dungeon is. |

Unfortunately, I didn't get to take part in any of the CBs (away for vacation), so OB would be my take at the game. So, I'm definitely taking part in the OB to try out the game (not that I have anything better to do anyways lol) |
|
personally i'm not that hyped about a open beta, if i would know 100% what class to play i wouldn't play the ob. But now i'm gonna take the opportunity to try 2-3 chars out and get a feel about them. |

Waiting until official release. I also completely agree, the first few days of a good MMO are the most fun, to experience that in OB then actually have to do it again for my real chracter upon official release would feel like a chore to me. Just my opinion and play preference. |

I'll be checking out the character creation so I can determine ahead of the time the looks for my toons. Other than that I don't plan to play the actual game until it is released. They can adjust classes all day but they can't help the issue between the keyboard and the chair. |
