Hey guys!

Here's a link to CO's head start sticky on their homepage. People pre-ordered the game in hopes of getting in head start today Friday 28th, but seems like you have to buy from a certain retailer in order to get in game.

I think it get weird when a pre-order from one retailer is better that a pre-order from another, when the price is still appox. the same.

Any Champions here feel left out?

I hope ZeniMax is working on Fallout Online.

Cryptic has a history of different "bonuses" and "perks" depending on who you did your pre-order with in the past.  It should not really come as a surprise that they would do something like this.

Thats not a screw up...Its a "I can't Read Plain ENglish when I buy stuff" screw up on the customer's part.   On every website it listed the various things you get for pre ordering with their store and the major ones Best Buy, Gamestop, and Amazon all had head start only people feeling kicked are the people who did D2D and didn't read.  There really was very littel reason to order from D2D.

Actually alot of Games do this not just Cryptic.   Its STORE marketing it doesn't matter who you order from as far as the game companies are concerned.  The stores on the other hand strike deals with the game company's so they can market the item in their hopeful favor.

If you are still trying to get into early access and can't log in, check out some info here:

LINK

Thread is closed though, due to many complaints against Cryptic, but  you might still find your answer there.

Not untill a few days ago... it was kind of misleading. They have changed the website but for many it was already too late.

Thats not a screw up.  Thats whoever bought its fault.  Everyone pretty much said "Its there own dang fault" for not reading.  This happens in pretty much every MMO.

It's the weekend followed by a bank holiday here mate.

By the time they can contact the resller the event will have ended.

I'll live.

Life's far too short for me to start messing around with Cryptic support as well for that matter. I remember them from COH. I'd rather buy a new game than go through all that palava again.

Thanks for your suggestion though. Very kind of you.

The information was put out quite some time ago and freely available both from the champions website and the retailers.

Are you saying you failed to read the details of what your pre-order included before you purchased it?

Yes they did.  They made it very clear.  They only had Gamestop up as a Headstart.  Which meant Gamestop had the only Headstart.  Best Buy didn't even know they had a head start until a week or two after Gamestop had there's advertised.  I know I looked and only choose gamestop because it had the headstart.

A lot of the retailers don't send out seperate head start keys, for those saying they haven't received their key. I pre-ordered from play.com and received a "Pre Order Key" which included Beta access, Head Start access and my perks for ordering from play.com.

Agree with most opinions here though, it is clearly stated that different retailers have different perks for ordering through them. Head Start access is not a given with ALL pre-orders. Most people tend to READ what they are buying first, so that they know what they are buying and what to expect / not expect. Simples!

Hardly Cryptics "screw up" as stated in the thread title!

Walmart's version did not include a headstart, but the deal they struck was a "special limited edition package" which included various other things the other outlets didn't.

Problem with the headstart: You cannot cancel your order once you get your promocode, unlike a normal pre-order of a normal game (non-MMO) which you can cancel at any time up until it ships.

Certain places don't want to bother handing out promo codes and dealing with irate customers who didn't enjoy the beta then trying to cancel their order (aka they wanted a free preview).

I suspect Walmart is one of those places. But Gamestop/EB has long experience with beta codes, and so it isn't a big deal to them anymore since that's ALL they do.

If it said "Head start access" only on pre-orders from selected retailers, than that is the fault of the consumer for not reading what they were getting. That is a lot better than Funcom putting "Early Access" on every AoC pre-order and then telling people redeeming their keys that it had limited access... That was a screw up, and a bit of a scam if you ask me.

Tried: LotR, CoH, AoC, WAR, Jumpgate Classic
Played: SWG, Guild Wars, WoW
Playing: Eve Online, Counter-strike
Loved: Star Wars Galaxies
Waiting for: Earthrise, Guild Wars 2, anything sandbox.
