Funcom will never get another penny of mine.

I would like to say SOE but unlike funcom I do think SOE has the ability to make a quality MMO so I would still probably play an SOE MMO. They just need to pull their heads out of their arse.

Waiting for: Final Fantasy XIV
Now Playing: COD4:MW2 (bye bye stars)
Worst MMO: Age of Conan
Favorite MMO: FFXI

SOE; don't think I really have to explain why.

I avoid EA PC games, LoL securom (and drm in general). I would love to see their justification for still using this worthless garbage.

Blizzard, depending on how Starcraft 2 goes. It if really is as epic as they claim it will be then all is good. If the game is broken up into 10 hour solo campaign and 50 dollar boxes then forgot them.

I'm grossly leary of any SoE product, especially an everquest title. If they'd do some things to encourage new players to join (gamplay and design!!!!!! not level cruise with recruit-a-friend), fix up older parts of the game to new standards, keep up with current lore. Ya know, do something that shows they actually care about the game itself.

Over the years SOE has clearly demostrated that they can not make a working game that's worth a f*ck, AND their long term management sucks as well and I'm not just talking about SWG.

Everyone forgets that EQ2 has been nuked to hell over the years and is hardly the same game it was at launch. Planetside was driven into the ground, Vanguard is being driven into the ground...PotBS was a mess last time I looked at it....

I'm not to crazy about Turbine either. Asheron's call was probably one of the top MMO's ever made but since then it's been a parade of bad games.

Games, above all else, are about fun. MMORPG's are no different. If you are not having fun, find something else to do with your time and money and stop your bitchin.

You know, even though I can absolutely understand why people would want to boycott some developers (SOE in particular), I don't think I would, if it meant missing out on a good game.

As mercenary as it sounds, I'd prioritise my self-interest and set aside my prejudices.

I'd rather miss out on one good game, than being treated as dirt, and served half working games, and have to deal with customer support thats more eager to get your creditcard number than helping you out.

I'm not that addicted to gaming, or shinies that I will "HAVE" it no matter what.

So, with that said:

I'll never buy another SOE product ever again, not for as long as Smeddley is in charge. Not even if they get to and make a virtual reality world and game that has insane realistic gfx, insaner than APB character creation and is in "Wheel of Time" world.

Not just because I know they don't care about my game experience once I paid them and would gladly ruin it to atract another customer, but also because I know they would try to empty my wallet in any way, by subscription RMT and minipacks gallore.

Oh and because their customer service suck monkey b.

And am weary of EA, since they are just as shitty as SOE, with not offering refunds when people have been waiting for 3 years for an expansionpack to work, because EA is to cheap to build a working database and webpage so you can register your games flawlessly. Oh and yes, I'm waiting for a expansion I bought to work for me... So is a friend, and another friend and even my neighbour.

So you can say, any money I have will have a hard time getting into EA's pockets too. DESPITE that they sometimes have good titles out.

So I gues you can say I'm not the Pokemon generation("Gotta have em all"), and because I don't have to play every good title comming out, I can avoid putting money in the pockets of those with shitty business practices. I'm a customer, and good companies get my vote, by me putting money in their pockets instead.

Too bad there are plenty of the other people. Grr, the big horrible companies gobbling up the small great companies. I'm missing out on many a good game.

Never anything from Funcom, even if the game got great reviews.

I would give SOE a maybe but only after the game had been released for a bit and the game got great reviews.

Edit: Ohhh..I forgot to include CME(Stargate Worlds). That company scares the crap out of me.

I do too!

Makes me worried about SW:TOR. I'll be playing FFXIV at that time anyway.

I haven't had any earth shakingly bad experiences with any gaming company yet, but lately Cryptic has been sucking alot. I can't understand how they treat their paying customers. Once they've gotten your money, seems like the service ends there too. And the company is very bad at offering information to they'r community or taking responsibility of it's actions.

So my answer, Cryptic.

To be fair, EA havent been anywhere as bad as they used to be for the last couple of years.... I mean, I still have a massive problem forgiving them for what they did to Bullfrog, but their recent developer 'city state' non interference policy is working I think... The fact they admit that the way they used to work was bad and changed accordingly deserves some kudos I think.

These days you should probably ignore the EA name and look at just the dev house attached to it imo... EA really are now acting as investors/ distributors. They have a policy mow of letting companies like BioWare do what they do best- make games.

Blizzard, the first and only game Ive ever played and bought from them was WoW and I wasn't to impressed.  IDK maybe id give D3 a try once a demo comes out.

This astounds me.

Go play any one of their RTS games, or Diablo.

I'm not ruling out anything.

I'm only really wary of SoE and NC Soft. I'm still pissed at funcom, but they also made one of my favorite mmos, so I'll probably give Secret world a try.

Blizzard games; I will always try out. Nine times out of ten, they are always bad ass.

Groovy.

Uh, got a link for that piece of news? Not questioning you, just want to read that statement for myself :)

I sort of expect the worse so no company I would put on that list. I don't think I will ever buy a game again without doing a trial first though, after buying WoW and realising that so many people playing isn't a good measure of anything.

There are none that I would boycott.

I am unhappy with Sony for:

  • writing evocation druids out of Everquest
  • Everquest 2 at time of release as it was buggy, had terrible game play and fell way short of the advertised hype.

Funcom, SOE and sadly my beloved Mythic. This is simply due to the whole 'WAR' fiasco though I still have immense respect for DAoC.

A good game is a good game but if it is coming from someone who has made devastating mistakes in the past i will wait until it is secured that the product meets the expectation and isnt changed for the bad.

SOE - the one i distrust the most by far.

I try to stay open-minded about most companies, despite a lot of bad news, bad reviews and the game-specific haters.  The only company I think I wouldn't give another chance is SOE.  The SWG ruckus hit me as hard as everyone else, yet I gave it some time to settle-in, and then still ended up quitting for good about a year later - it just wasn't fun for me anymore.  Looking for an MMO to replace that one, I made the mistake of giving most of SOE's other MMOs a try and they were the most mediocre games I have ever played.  Their tech support wasn't too hot, either.  I have no idea if it's gotten better since back then.

Bottom-line, I'll try just about anything once if it looks interesting enough, even if it's made by a company that I am not particularly fond of.  But still I approach a few particular companies with a good degree of hesitation.

SOE

Everquest ruined
Star Wars Galaxies Ruined
Planetside Ruined
Everquest 2 sucked all along
