I emailed ncsoft about possible westcoast US info for server locations at launch because I play from australia and this is the response I got: 08/27/2009 09:29 AM All Aion servers at this time will be located on the East Coast. This may change |

Yeah maybe a bit inconvenance but if they set the servers up for the west coast time then i don't see a big problem happening. Just wait and see what happens. Currently playing: |

Good thing I'm East Coast! I feel bad for those on the west coast, that in itself is a large ping, some of the pvp in this game can be won or lost based on it. I heard something about a company being licensed to sell and distribute Aion in Australia for the Oceanic audience, separate from North America. NCSoft West is responsible for North America so while Oceanic players will suffer a disadvantage it isn't their priority. If Aion receives a huge player base with 30+ servers then I can see them with the benefit of opening up a dedicated Oceanic server. |

Well what would your ping rate be if you were on an EU server ?? Just an idea. And for some odd reason i thought NCsoft west servers were in Texas ?? Or was that just the beta ? Played Aoc/DDO/FFXI/WAR / LoTRo / CO / Aion Waiting for FFXIV to be the game it should. so sad =( |

500 - 700 ping is very slow for Australia. You might want to switch ISP's. From East Coast Australia to west coast US my ping time is usually a little under 200 mS. To east coast USA about 250 mS and to Europe around 300+ mS. Wireless broadband is generally unsuitable for gaming. If you are in the outback on satellite, there is probably not much that can be done to improve the latency as the theoretical best connection is limited by the speed of light and how far the signal has to travel. |

I'm stuck on adsl 1 as well because suburb here in perth is on a rim so that affect things too I guess. IInet not as good as they used to be here. |

I'm happy to play on a US server if pings are not too bad, I just know from playing on eastcoast servers in other games it can be an issue at peak times. |
