I haave played 2-3 months at start  Ddo and i remember what combat system was like.

What i am wondering about after reading in official DDO site that combat system was changed supposely to better lvls is if anyone that has played the new DDO Unlimited to explain us in detail what in fact changes are made and how combat system works and looks like .

P.S. i dont care what devs are saying and how frieking awesome they describing the new combat system ,cause only opinion that matters for me ,is the gamers opinion..

The major changes are:

Auto-targeting of closest enemy/object - in combat it only selects enemies.  It CAN be disabled, fortunately.

Grazing hits were added - I didn't play the last week of beta, so i didn't see the final version of this.  Instead of AC working as it should, when you play on solo you got a "grazing hit" on a 19-20 [instead of just 20], normal was 17-20, hard setting was 15-20 and elite was 11-20.  They may have revised the ranges a bit [someone will correct me if it has changed].  DR and active blocking supposedly reduce the damage from these hits - I was getting hit constantly when attacked by 8-10 kobolds [level 3 on hard] vs my AC of 28.  The 1-2pts per "grazing hit" added up to half my 75 hp by the time I finished them off.

MOBs hp scale down for solo & normal settings, slightly down for hard and they removed any scaling for elite.  Scaling also occurs based on the number of people in the party - including hirelings.  Obviously this affects combat, though not combat mechanics.

Other combat mechanics remain the same as they have been for the last 2 years.

The combat is basicly the same but they gave it some polish and added som small features, feels much more responsive now IMO, still the best combat in MMOs ;)

If WoW = The Beatles
and WAR = Led Zeppelin
Then LotrO = Pink Floyd

sounds encouraging. Tbh was hoping to slow down the combat speed so u have time to check the attack rolls , make it bit more tactical ,which was the magic in pen and paper d&d combat or even nwn's or baldur's gate 2 ,and look less like a rogue in wow attacking 5 times per second..thnks anwy for the replies..

DDOs fast paced combat is the best part of the game.

Hmm can u xplain what u mean?

I mean spam attacks mindlesely (since u attack 3-4 attacks per 2 sec IT IS spam) how it is possible to be nice and tactical?

Dont get it..

I mean the fast pace of combat is the best part of the game. The tactics of it you decide on the fly as you attack and play at fast speeds. I never said it was nice and tactical though. I simply said the fast paced combat is the best part of the game. When I want to play a tactical combat game I do not play DDO, though there are tactics involved DDO requires you to use them quickly.

DDO is not a mindless spam attack game at all. If you think it is I do suggest you go back and play more. The combat is not like WOW or any other MMO really. The combat system is where DDO stands out from other MMOs.

I agree.  DDO is the best combat system.     By comparison, WOW, Age of Conan and like are just cheesy comic-like fighting systems that makes the kiddies happy.  What really stands out is the working and easy to use voice system thats comes with the game.  Having a working mic and making tactical decisions in a group is the heart of DDO.
