I'm playing Guild Wars til Star Wars: The Old Republic comes out. Cause I can't justify paying for current games or the new games coming out soon. When we get back from where we are going, we will return to where we were. I know people there! |

Man, how did you get Batman for PC? I ended up having to get it on PS3, because every store everywhere said PC wasn't released yet. |

Just recently picked up Fallout 3 off a friend so I have my hands full for the time being. Plan to either buy Aion or re-sub to AoC in Sept, depending on what my g/f feels like. "Kings of typos" ^^ EDIT: typo... AKA "Hater of haters" |

You can’t ever win if you’re always on the defensive, to win, you have to attack. |

No MMOs right now....none worth playing at the moment. Instead, I'm playing through The Witcher again, and digging up old favorites from the software closet.

Reading this thread is like sacrelidge to me. I am a fan of the genre. Unlike some, I actually LIKE MMORPG's. I will be playing Aion and Champions and Fallen Earth. The rest of you can sit around and watch TV or surf porn for all I care. I'll be PLAYING the games in the genre instead of bitching about them and coming with excuses not to play them. |

Aion all the way... its the first MMO since WoW, which is highly polished and they have put alot of detail into every corner of the game. I played Aion in Korea till lvl 40 and we had so much fun. Can't wait for EU launch :D Currently playing: Aion |

Well that is your right, but you really need to dig a bit deeper when it comes to each game's circumstances. Not all games do what they do with beta for the same reason. Aion for one had plenty of reason to market closed OB the way they did, and the reasons are so good that I think their marketing strategy is rather impressive. |

It probably sounds crazy, but I finally got so tired of the current crop of MMOs that I went back to MUDding. I began my online gaming with MUDs, so it's not as tough a transition as it would be for someone who'd never played one (going from graphics to text can seem jarring), and I'm finding that I'm actually having a really good time. It's kind of nice recognizing the names of the majority of players, seeing areas added with some regularity, having typos in room/object/mob descriptions fixed quickly, and all sorts of other perks that come with something run privately as a hobby instead of publically as a business; with no need to bring in huge numbers of players in order to stay alive, you can do pretty much anything you want.
It's also nice [for me] to go back to a game with a remort system, since I've never really enjoyed raiding or pvp. With remorting, there are endless levels, so there's always room to improve your character. Plus, it's free, and not the microtransaction "free," just plain ol' free. The hardest part of MUDding is sorting out the good MUDs from the bad ones. With over 1000 of the things available, it can take a bit of time to find the right place, and there's definitely a lot of junk out there, but at least there's no download involved. Definitely not a solution for everybody, but it's been a relief to finally step away from the direction MMOs have been headed.
As far as the games I'm wating for, Dragon Age: Origins is the only definite "get" on the horizon for me (though even this depends on how serious EA is about keeping it DRM-free). I'm interested in Star Wars: the Old Republic, but I'm not sure I'll buy it until I hear what their payment model is. I don't do microtransactions games, which is what killed Champions for me. My fear, and one that seems to be echoed on this site a lot, is that MTs are soon going to overtake everything, so I guess I'm glad I found another way to spend my time, even if I had to jump into the wayback machine to do it. EVE online. It has been two years since I last played the game. I loved it at the time but ended up joining like three or four different bands that kept me away from doing anything besides jam and write music.
I just finished the novel for EVE called "The Empyrean Age" and it got me stoked to jump back into EVE. Then the annoucment of DUST was all I needed and I got the game back. I truely can not understand why more people dont play it. I understand the whole "My avatar is a ship" thing, I felt disconnected in the same way when I played it two years ago. But now I see the ship as more an exstenstion of my character, and my potrait being the real me. I think reading the book and then skimming through the downloadable PDF Lore book that is over 300 pages really connected me to the universe.
I recommend new players checking out both, not before they start the game but during their playtime, so you get the real picture of the universe.
