The title says it all. If you could pick ONE and only ONE single class that you have played out of ALL of the MMOs you have ever played what class did you find to be the most interesting different or just well thought out? Only ONE though. Also why would you pick that class? Was it just the most interesting? Was it the the best thought out? Or did you just enjoy it the most? For me.. After thinking about it it. I would have to say to date the Most interesting class I have ever played would have to be the Herald of Xotle from Age of Conan.. Which is funny because I didnt really play Age of Conan all that long.. Only up to level 34 really. I actually wanted to stay with the game for longer but some friends decided to to go try out Warhammer (even though I had been playing WAR since early beta and tried to convince them otherwise) But ya the Herald of Xotle was just unique. I had always played Tanks in pretty much every MMO as my main. Playing a Mellee DPSer was just refreshing.. and playing a Mellee DPSer that was a caster who turned into a demon and wielded a massive 2 hander was just, well... awesome. Their Feat tree was just insane also. Was all around a fun class and definately different than the normal.. I'm a rogue type mellee dps we see in most MMOS. |

Everquest Bard, hands down one of the most dynamic and immersive classes in any MMORPG that I've played. Good at solo, group, questing, speed... Tons of songs... just don't know how you could compete with that easily. |

Was rather fond of my Storm/Rad Defender in CoX. He had an awesome spread of abilities. All his attacks made enemies easier to hit, he had a small buff aura, an AOE constant-knockdown ability, a summoned Tornado for when things got chaotic and you needed lots of knockdown, a summoned stationary Storm Cloud which zapped enemies with lightning, and a leadership ability to make my teammates deal extra damage. My Sonic/Rad Corrupter was solid too. A temporary buff, multiple devastating debuffs, a disorient, and all his attacks made enemies take more damage. I'm surprised that none of my WOW chars pop to mind as "interesting", despite classes in that game being extremely well designed gameplay-wise (and my having spent years more time playing WOW than COX.) I'm less surprised that none of the WAR chars pop to mind, as they were terribly designed gameplay-wise...despite having the coolest class lore.
I may be sorta harsh on EVE, but damn is this a cool trailer (EVE Dominion). |

Lets face it, MMOs today are turning into single player console games with a chat box included. |
The most interesting character Ive ever played strangely, was my rogue in vanguard. You could craft all kinds of nefarious gadgets that allowed you some great abilities. You could make poison darts with various handy effects, you could counterfit scrolls and have access to some great spells. And if that wasnt great enough, you could stay hidden while attacking. While the ghost town of Sartok is my rogues final resting place, I always wonder how much fun it could have been. |

Guild Wars Mesmer. The ability to kill something by having that opponent kill themselves is a fascinating concept that I haven't seen from any other class in any other mmo or game. |

Have to agree with above GW mesmer was a badass class to play The following statement is false |

I would probably say my Animist in DAOC - they are a caster class which had stationary mushroom like pets that cast on anyone entering their area. Very tactical class in terms of where to place your pets, and I found it fun to play, though they were constantly the subject of nerfs at the time. Also I'd second the Everquest Bard - a real kitchen sink class that had a little bit of everything. -------------------------------- |

I thoroughly enjoyed my warrior from Dark Age of Camelot. It was never defined as offensive or defensive but rather it was what you made it to be. You could specialize in a manner that would make you a very good damage dealing class, or put lots of points in the use of shields and debilitate your enemies while protecting yourself rather well. You could even pick a happy medium as I did and be pretty good all around. With the warrior class I was able to fight exactly how I wanted, preforming various roles quite well. I could tank pve mobs no problem, could do damage if there was another tank around. PvP was my favorite. I had the ability to hit people with my shield for stuns, switch to a 2 handed weapon mid battle for more damage if the opportunity presented itself or just stay sword and board and wear people down over time. To me the Warrior just seemed purpose built and it did everything I ever wanted exactly the way I wanted. Once upon a midnight dreary, while I porn surfed, weak and weary, over many a strange and spurious site of 'hot xxx galore'. While I clicked my fav'rite bookmark, suddenly there came a warning, and my heart was filled with mourning, mourning for my dear amour, " 'Tis not possible!", I muttered, " give me back my free hardcore!"..... quoth the server, "404." |

Well I know you said class but...
The most fun was my Tamer/Bard in Ultima Online.
Beyond that my Smuggler/TKA or Bio Engineer in SWG. I actually liked the BE the most because I liked seeing what I couuld make and I guess CH was up there too. Being able to choose the skills you want to use, offers much less variety than pre-made class based systems. -Future Game Developer |

DAOC: My halberd wielding Highlander Armsman. Always fun to charge into battle (even if I did die a lot). Most I ever cared for or got into character for. |

Druid in VG. Actually played like what you expected. Much better than my WoW druid, which was fun too. Current: Ryzom, DFO |

Definately Creature Handler in SWG ... living in the wild for days accompanied by your loyal (up to 22 !!) pets ... searching for that one very rare baby critter. I also liked the Tempest of Seth in AOC a lot .... probably cos he was major OP at the start :P ... huge multiple aoe's with heal.

Everquest my Beastlord. I loved that class, I have yet to find another game that give me a pet class who also was a melee character. Sure you see casters and their pets all the time but not one who goes in and beats the mobs with their fists and has a pet to back them up. |

White Lion in WAR is a melee/pet class. I think DK's in WoW can also have pets. The most interesting class I've played is the Chosen is Warhammer. I like that fact that you can actually "tank" in RvR with some of the skills tanks have, and Chosen auras can make a significant impact in aiding allies and hurting the enemy. |

My favorite is Hox as well in Aoc. I love being a dps class and dishing it out but having to run up to people face to face to do it was a very interesting turn of pace though you could kite briefly. Plus I just enjoy Aoc combat. |

I got so much |
Mesmer from guild wars Amazing class. Almost no damaging skills of his own. Just hexes , counters and mirrors. For example there is a big boss fight near the end of the game. I place the hex on the boss , that returns all the damage from spells multiplied by two , on him. 9 seconds later boss mob kills himself
Also mesmers were the first to be targeted in PVP. Cause he could shut down and disable any other class. Especially enemy healers.

Illusionist from EQ2 easily. The scope of the class in terms of being able to do the usual CC stuff (mezzing etc) but the breadth of skills available of what it meant the class could do (if you paid enough attention), along with some very interesting buffs (e.g. TC). Very very engaging class. |
