How sad and pathetic is it, that every time the dullards at SOE put up a poll letting their victims, er, customers, pick which SOE game the 'Community Relations' team will play for a couple hours together, it comes down to which game's players think their game is the most broken?  Last time it was between MxO and SWG, which SWG won and the team claimed they had a ton of fun and the game was just dandy.  This time it is SWG by a mile, with the handful of folks still playing Planetside trailing far behind.

Here is the thread on the OBoard that starts off with a 'Rah! Rah! Let's win!' post, which quickly becomes a thread where the posters are hoping that forcing SOE employees to log into the game will make them finally realize how bad the game currently is and motivate them to fix it:

forums.station.sony.com/swg/posts/list.m

If anyone from the OBoard thread discussing why SWG can easily win these poll, when EQ and EQ2 have far more players, it is simply because the forums are far more fun than the game currently is, or has been for quite some time.  That is why the thread is filled with people hoping SWG winning the poll will somehow make SOE realize how unfun the game really is.

Planetside isn't broken... it's just dated and like Counter-Strike it wont attract new players but just keep old ones. What they need to do is release planetside as a Free 2 Play game with MT because Planetside would always have suited this model.

For me to come back to SWG they have to put the old profession system in, the class system just doesn't do it for me. I mean I tried the NGE since the Expertise but I hate not having the freedom the profession system offered me. I loved just being able to dabble in whatever I wanted and I loved how each profession needed eachother and the Death Penalty and the Battle Fatigue and all that.

Now you pick a class and it's all very boring and feels like everyother mmorpg. Playing Jedi is like playing a tank now and theres no customization what so ever. They can say theres expertise but tbh all you can choose between is being a tank with slightly better healing or being a tank with a ranged attack.

So they can do whatever they want to SWG, unless they bring back the Profession system or pre NGE servers... I'm not coming back because it isn't the game I love anymore.

I find it sad that there are some people apparently so addicted to these games that they keep playing them and giving their money to SoE in spite of the knowledge that the games are not nearly as good as they once were and that SoE has no intention of ever fixing them.

Don't get me wrong, I liked the old SWG too and I was a huge fan of Planetside for several years. But the fact of the matter is that SoE never did and never will give a crap about their customers, they refuse to admit how bad these games have become due to their own mismanagement and nothing will ever be done to improve these games short of simply shutting them down and finally ending the misery.

I just can't understand why anyone would continue to torture themselves by playing an SoE game considering we all know exactly how that company treats its customers.

Planetside wasn't and still isn't broken, it's the BFRs that drove everyone away, dumbest addition ever. There's like 300 people that still play Planetside?

Last year from what I heard, devs decided to go play EQ2 instead of SWG.

List of SOE lies
What do Treyarch, EA and SOE all have in common? A habit of ignoring customer feedback and suggestions and their inability to properly beta test their products, resulting in crappy products.

Allow me to try and put it into terms you would understand.  Let's say you went to your crack dealer to get some crack.  You love this crack; it's the best crack you've ever had (though truth be told, you'd never tried any other crack, so you don't really know the difference in crack - this guy cuts it big-time, and you're actually getting ripped off, but who cares, it's crack!).  Except, every time you go to leave the crackhouse, he kicks you in the junk right after you pay him.  He doesn't say thanks for shopping here, he doesn't stop cutting his crack, he doesn't hire more "undocumented workers" to better produce the crack - he just hauls off on your nuts after he takes your cash.  Do you suppose, eventually, you would stop and think... "Why do I put up with this kind of abuse?  There must be other places from which to purchase my crack.  I can't imagine ALL of them would take my money and follow it up with a side-kick to the testicles."

See, those who continue to play SOE games for an extended period of time don't typically have this period of inner reflection.  They continue to buy bad crack at premium prices, and thank the dealer for the massive boot to the groin they get after the credit card clears.  To them, the whole process is fun.  Now psychologically speaking, this is typically the result of low self-esteem or deep-seated feelings of inadequacy.  Other times, it is simply because some people really do not care about the changes made - as long as the game exists, they will play it.  But for those who are vocal and involved, this doesn't seem to apply.  The exchanges with development typically go something like this:

Players: We want this system fixed!

Devs: Sure, we'll get on it.  In the meantime, how about Ewok pancakes?

Players: Yay!  Iconic pancakes! *munch munch*

And the system goes untouched, often for years.  Bottom line, what you refer to as vets "rubbing there (sic) little crybaby asses", I refer to as "people who stop buying bad crack".  Or at the least, "people who don't like to get kicked in the nards".

You have not played Planetside in the last several years I take it? It is very much broken. I finally quit the game back in Febuary of this year after having returned to it very briefly after the merger of the last two NA servers. There was some new content, nobody used BFRs anymore (I saw maybe three of them in a month of playing, one of which I killed personally) and the population was high enough after the server mergers to keep things interesting (although I had to put all the chinese players on ignore to avoid their gibberish global broadcast spam).

For a brief time the game was not half bad. BUT, then the devs went and released a patch. And with SoE devs every patch means that more shit gets broken than gets fixed. They FINALLY nerfed the NC Jackhammer, something that needed to be done since the first day the game was released. But they made the horrible choice of using the same patch to buff the Vanu Lasher as well as several other peices of Vanu equipment. I'm sure you can guess what happened. All the noobs who play NC because of the overpowered Jackhammer instantly jumped ship and ran over to the Vanu to exploit the fact that race was now overpowered. NC population on the server dropped to nothing and 90% of everyone was playing Vanu. It became impossible to play at all because one side dominated every battle. I had to cancel my account again.

Recently I got an email from SoE saying that the last EU server was being merged into the NA server and they were letting veteran players come back and play free for a month. I'm not willing to give SoE any more of my money, but playing for free was tempting. However while browsing some forums to find a link to download a copy of the game I discovered that many players were now complaing about cheating. Apparently since I quit some new hacks were discovered and are now  being abused by a huge number of players. Vanu MAX suits are teleporting into gen rooms and it takes HOURS to get them out. The cheaters have been seen bragging that they can get away with their antics for DAYS at a time before SoE makes even the smallest effort to stop them.

So yeah, I would say the game is pretty darn broken. Between the fact the devs can't balance their own game properly without causing half the players to migrate to a different empire, the fact the SoE just doesn't give a crap and the fact that cheating is now more or less the main strategy in the game... I would say "broken" is a fairly accurate description.

As for you "War master" I think I'll let Kylrathin handle you. I always love a good analogy and his nut sack kicking crack dealer is a fantastic analogy for SoE.

What makes a good MMO? Good quality, good customer service, good business model, good fun.

Okay now this is one of the best pieces of literature I have ever had the pleasure of reading in my entire life lmao.  I'm serious; this is, in my opinion, one of the best reviews of SOE consumer relations I've ever seen.

Tee Hee!

Wow this is exactly how I felt. Except I couldn't find another crack dealer so I switched to Black Tar Heroin. Black Tar Heroin stands for Black Tar Heroin...
