So I've been reading ALOT of forums about how Aion is a just another Wow. People that keep saying this must not have played any other MMO before. Almost every MMO is going to have something another one had. Just because it has quest and an experience bar doesn't mean its a ripoff by any means. If that's the case then Wow ripped off Everquest and ever other MMO that lets you put on a new piece of cool armor.

The purpose of a new MMO though such as Aion is to add something slightly new that will attract and keep people playing (AoC did horribly). Such as the flight ability. Of course there is and always will be something similar that you have previously seen in another game. That's just the way it is and always will be. But out of all i have seen in the game so far (yes iv played the beta) they took alot of whats good in other MMOs and put it into one. In my opinion that is just fine by all means.

You are very correct, AION isn't a "WoW clone", just as WoW isnt an "EQ clone" but there are enough similarities-some of which you pointed out- that a reasonable comparison can be made.  What other game would you suggest comparing AION to?  EVE online? Perfect world has a similar art style, but the gameplay is completely different, same goes for lineage 2.  WoW is very easy to use as a comparison because it is the most recognized MMO on the market, and because of its similarities to many of the other older generation games.

well when you stop to consider that the ncsoft team consists of developers that left blizzard came over its quite clear that several games gave them thier ideas from everything ive seen about aion and having played wow i see quite a few things that seem to be a take from wow but then i also see things that ncsoft was clearly trying to do in gw like the paragon in gw looks very similar to characters in aion i dont know for a fact but the release of eye of the north really seemed like they was trying to make a stab at being a wow like game and then the stuff talking about gw2 sounds very much like a wow game there are differences this is true but that doesnt mean that they didnt try to recreate the same profits blizzard did with wow

You just admitted that Aion offers no new features except flight, yet condemn those who say the same thing?

Um... Aion was developed entirely by the NCSoft Korea development team.  It is a completely different development team then NCSoft West, and NCSoft West is an entirely different development team than ArenaNet.

ArenaNet is the development team with the ex-Blizzard employees and they have nothing to do with the development of Aion or the localization to the West.

NCSoft West has nothing to do with Aion other than localization and offering suggestions to the Korean development team to improve Aion, they have nothing to do with the actual development of the game.

You should probably get your facts straight before you start spouting wild accusations.

i dont know who rr2real is but anyone that thinks wow is a masterpiece is definitely smoking crack

The fact is, that WoW is very liked by alot of people still, in the the western market, why?

Cause they were the first to rip off all the good parts from other MMO's and wrap them up in a warhammer scenario, and their own mediocre gfx so everyone could play it.

Which is good, its a buisness, its about money.... I can see why buisnesses fight over subs, but why do we?? personally, i dont give a sh*t if Aion end up at 100k subs, if i like the game i will play it, if i dont, i will quit... simple as that..
