It seems as though a new religion has formed.  I was a WoW player for 2 years and I enjoyed the game, but I also am open to other forms of ENTERTAINMENT that's out there.  The word entertainment is put in all caps to show that this is just what these games are.  Some of us get a little too emotionally involed in them.  I mean, I feel as if I am an Infidel for liking any other game but WoW.  People like all things in life, Please enjoy in moderation.

In all fairness, he doesn't actually diss Aion.  In fact, seems to me he actually likes it but for some ungodly reason feels the need to be the umpteenth poster  to post for the umpteenth time what the majority of us already know.

Heh, I think the fact most aren't bothering to really read his topic and are just hammering into him is a testament of how tiring and overdone this whole debate is getting.

It is that easy to fool them, you never hear anyone complain about WoWs grind, because it never runs out of quests, if they took away all the quests, and just told you to kill mobs, and you took exactly hte same amount of time to hit max level ( for me it  was an average of 3 weeks per toon) People would bitch and moan about how much of a grind WoW is.

When i see one english dev interview involving tera online ill be interest in it, as far as i can tell its just another korean game, superior to its western counterparts, that wont find its way into the english territories.

besides, Have you seen aions boss fights?  this isnt a competition, i could careless who plays what game, im playing aion, have fun in your chosen title, the one thing i dont like are the people who feel the need to bash any title they arent going to play.

Yeah I have the game does look pretty impressive animation wise, seen some boss footage too.  Still tho, I think I remember reading someowhere Blue Hole Studio is planning an International-world wide release.  Not sure what that means, if it will first come out in S. Korea, then other countries, of if it's simulteanous.  I'll probablly pick up Aion as we get closer to the NA release in Sept, and probably via steam, but if and (hopefully) when TERA comes out in NA region,  I"ll be the first to drop Aion (and anything else I'm playing).
 

In the least, Aion will fill the gap for me quite nicely till TERA arrives :)

AION's graphics are NOT superb.  They are merely above average, part of this is of course is that the CRYengine is 5 years old, part of it is a lack of detail in certain areas.  However, what sets AION's graphics apart from everything else out there is the way that they are implemented.  Take Age of Conan for instance, probably the most graphically advanced MMO currently availiabe.  However, in addition to killing computers, the graphics in the game are very nitty gritty, neandertahlish, a rather boorish taste if you ask me.  AION's graphics however send a message to players that, not everything has to look ugly, there is beauty even in the scorching desert or within a bustling capital city, and even beyond that, there is elegance.

3. I am NOT an AION hater, I do not like people who say things in ignorance after accusing others of ignorance, and people who make the AION community look worse then the WoW community. 

I played Korean retail as well as been playing English Beta.

My Input for you is this All i have to say is this, You haven't played Aion long enough to make generalizations, Your a wow fanboy if you think wow didn't steal its UI, and a crap load of other things from other games. You dont know that they used the CryEngine V2 for this, not a 5 year old engine, you moron. You don't play on max graphics, and you obviously dont know what abyss gameplay, as well as end-game gameplay is like.

I never said AION was a WoW clone, I never insulted AION and the fact that most of the posts in this thread simply state that WoW is an EQ clone without touching the AION WoW similarities is exactly what I am talking about.  There is NOTHING wrong with having things in common with the most popular MMO in the world, nothing at all.  Likewise, there is nothing wrong with having similarities to less popular games some of which I named already. 

Now i never attacked the game, and yet most people have taken it as a personal insult.  Perhaps  "fanboyz" hit too close to home? Hell, i'm an AION fanboy.  I know what I'm getting into though, you say i am merely stating what "we" already know.  I am saying I stated what many think they know and don't.  It doesnt take a rocket scientist to read that "AION won't be revolutionary" and copy and paste it, but it seems to be a hard pill to swallow that this is because AION borrows things from other games most notable "WoW"? 

As to me playing WoW, my current game lineup does not include the World of Warcraft.  My forte is RTS. 

DoW 2, Empire TW, Company of heroes/OF/ToV, Starcraft(BW). Genesis Rising, Sins of a Solar Empire are what my current games are, with Fallout 3 on the side.  Dont give me that "WoW fanboy" crap.   I realize I opened myself up with that Dumb-fuck comment, but that you took it to heart, also brings back the "community" comment I made.  If this is the face of the AION community, well I finally understand what people from other games go through when trying to post threads in the AION forums. Unwarranted flaming, uneducated posts, posts that respond to the title rather then to the OP itself.

Edit: it seems while i was typing this Kenshin went ahead and posted a comment in ignorance.  WoW indeed stole many aspects of gameplay from previous games, this is part of its success.  What has AION done? "stolen" many aspects unique and popular from other games and combined them JUST LIKE WOW.  Does that make AION an L2 clone? or a Guild Wars clone? No, but it shares aspects with both.  Does that make WoW truly an EQ clone? I don't think so. 

AION is run on a modified version of the CRYengine 1, yet you seem so certain it was on CE2?

He clearly states that it was the CRYengine 1 they used originally to work on AION.  THIS is common knowledge.

And yes, I run AION on max graphics, my computer isnt the greatest but even a pair of Radeon 3870's in crossfire with a phenom 9850 is more then enough.

I don't believe that Aion is an amazing game. Aion is a good game, maybe a great game. It is smooth, polished, and has a relatively good amount of content. WoW is praised as the best, most amazing MMO ever looked apon even if people disagree. So I think Aion having topped WoW + 1 of it's expansion right out of release makes it worthy of amazing. At least to those who like it. You see, even if WOW has a huge following of people sayying it's the best. They also have people who don't like it at all. Aion will be no different. Some people who don't play aion or don't like it may still say it's good or great from a overall polish/MMO standpoint, but just not their taste. But i'm sure alot of people playig aion will regard it as the best mmo around. Rightfully so as aion has achieved the best mmorpg/rpg in general award. Heres the quote from the article. Anyone playing this game shouldn't feel bad about calling aion the best because it is in fact good enough that if it appeals to you, it could be the best for ya.

I do work Sundays, but only 10 hrs. I'm a QA for Activision-and no, not the main branch, I'm not gifted with the good fortune of testing CoD MW 2 or Diablo 3.  I get to test all the no-name games sitting in the corner.

Awesome, seems we have something in common.  7 years SEGA (Cust. Serv.Tech Writter), 7 years SCEA QA, both first and 3rd Party software testing.  I quit the industry a few years back however, as I was slowly going crazy pulling at times 72 hour shits during crunch times, and only have 2 hours to go home and shower in between.
 

Honestly I'm glad I'm out of the industry part, now I can enjoy more gameplay as apposed to tediously play-testing, bug regression testing (recreating old bugs from previous 2000+page of bugs... ugh).  You don't know how many times I've had horrible video game nightmares.
