I really want to know, in detail, what PvP will be like in this game. I do NOT care for duels nor arena style battles. PvP, for me, should be either free for all OR good vs bad fought out in LARGE zones/frontiers. So, will this game's PvP come near to these points?

Leaving duels and arena out.  You get NOTHING!  Seriously.  They will have scenerios like WAR but I haven't seen it yet.  =)  They have shown one so far.  Prison Break out.  It is a higher level Scenerio.  They probable will add more later on.  PvP is very lacking in this game.

Glad to find this all out now...just saved myself another expense and waste of hours in front PC.

Yeah there are no Villains at all in this game. Everyone is a hero. They are sort of trapped by their own design decision- good or bad.

there is a FFA area called BASH that is bout 20 players after L20. And it appears other ones open up post 30s.

For hardcore pvp with FFA EVE is pretty much the best choice or upcoming Aion for good vs bad. I'm sure you probably know of those already. I plan to mostly stick to eve for pvp or give Aion a try. And continue to play this for the superhero tights

bloody shame cryptic fell short of delivering a nice pvp experience. We already got so many powersets not sure why not let people call themselves a villain if they wish? OH--- guess its common sense they lack the pve content for villains

PvP is not this game's strong suite.

As I noted in my Review

" is basically a bunch of Heroes put against another group of Heroes in a cage match instance with little to no purpose. ...The instances are small and confined and rather uninspired. Most often is a DPS fest."

actually its not pointless.  You get exp to level, points and titles that can be used to get gear, and also there are quests to pvp.  The first "arena" (known as hero game in game) is a cage match but there are tons of others. 

Its actually really fun.  Some powers are overpowered, but if you use your brain and build ur character right you will have tons of fun.

I have built tons of level 10 heroes that are very powerful in PvP, and sometimes I have built characters that suck.  You just gotta try things out and figure out what build works for you.

A biiiig hint is that most classes can choose a passive/self buff around level 7, and while its tempting to get another activated ability, you are going to want to get the passives.  Most of them give huge percentage increases to your role (damage, mitigation, crowd control, healing etc.) 

With just the arena pvp available at open beta, I 'm having a blast. The flying combat is amazing .

If you try PvP, make damn sure you play a ranged hero. Any melee heroes are worthless.

Melee heroes have problems in the early levels, but you can costumise your powers to add travel power removal/roots/stun. PvP was actualy a lot of fun and was not a DPS race, you can get away from your enemies easly if they dont pay attention. It was a race tho, everyone moves around all the time and being a healer it was a total pain in the ass to keep them healed.
