I like the voice acting. Much better than reading it.

Not 'better', dear. 'Easier'.

No, its "Better". Because its more immersive.

You mean 'less immersive', of course. 'Less' because, as we can now see in the demos, your toon only gets one choice of voice (male or female), the dialogue itself is incredibly clunky and your toons responses to it are, at best, restricted and limited (the BH could only be Polite, Rude or Money-Oriented). .

As we can see they are using the same characters from the voice acting video and is in no way proof that there is only one voice choice per sex.

I don't know what you expect from the dialogue, this was never going to be the next Shakespeare. It is passable, this is Star Wars. As for the choices of course you're only going to have so many, they can't give you infinite options and frankly some options are better than the none we've had so far in MMOs.

I don't know what to say other than your expectations were grossly inaccurate and frankly that was your own fault.

I'm not saying your wrong, but I haven't seen that specifically mentioned.  You can't say that from just seeing a demo.

It's an easy deduction from previous KOTORs and from the fact that the facial customisation (or what we have seen so far in these demos and in many screenshots) seems like its going to be rudimentary,

Before you get your panties in a bunch, you do realize this game has probably got 1.5 - 2 years before release right?

It is absolutely important. How many of us click through the npc wall of text crits as fast as possible so we can get to the next step of the quest. I know that when some epic quests were voiced I actually listened to the entire thing and really enjoyed those quests. I often found myself often wishing the next quest was more of the same, only to be dissappointed to be clicking away frantically to get to the next step.

I for one am looking forward to them drawing us into their world.

Now that certaining doesnt mean I can live without all the other elements I also love about MMOs. Lets just hope Bioware doesnt forgo them.

We have heard a great deal about the voice acting element of SWTOR. This dialogue, it's speculated, is one of the reasons why SWTOR is predicted to be such a 'big' game - because the sound files are going to be so huge.

But I must say that, from my own perspective, before Bioware began hitting the 'It Talks!' button, I never heard many gamers either on the mmorpg.com or other forums ever actually ask for 'more voice acting'. Less bugs, bigger landscapes, more crafting, fewer invisible barriers, more fps, less grinding and a lot of other, more conventional MMO wants, but never 'more voice acting'.

I remember when it was annoucned that Heather Graham and Christopher Lee were going to do voice-acting for EQ2. The reaction was, 'Nice, but who cares?'. And for a while in 2006, the first question in the EQ2 forums FAQ was 'How can I turn off voice-acting so I don't hear Brian Shorecling ever again?'.

My question is - is voice acting a big part of your personal MMO enjoyment?

I find it very good they are doing it. Full voice acting is a common element in every other genre.  Mmo devs. have just been to damn lazy to catch up to times.  I mean if i wanted to read a Books worth of text... i would read a god damn book.

Eq2 did great  with adding voice acting.  you say ppl dont care  maybe thats the problem you ppl  dont seem to want to advance the genre but rather just keep it were it sits and it already sits behind the curve.

It's probably more like a year but they've already had four years, every screenshot and inch of footage they've released and the fact they have already recorded the 'toon' voice-overs suggest that the humanoid toons and their animations are probably already close to their final shape.

Of course, that doesn't mean Bioware won't rethink bodyshape and animation prior to launch. It's just extraordinarily unlikely.

From what I've seen from those demo movies, the voice overs will be very annoying. Each quest taking 10mins of dialogue... Don't think this will be the game for me.
