I posted this in the WoW forums, I just figured I'd try it here to and see if someone can help me.

I've had this problem with WoW ever since I tried downloading it a few months ago. For some reason, I download everything fine, load up the game, log in, create my character, watch the cinematic and then begin playing. However, once I start playing, I can move around, but no players are moving (sometimes their names are just Unknown) and the NPCs won't give me quests and stuff. I've tried just about everything you could think of to try and fix this problem.

I'm running on Windows 64-bit Vista Premium, and my computer's specs are well over what it is required. I am connecting to a wireless modem, and every other game I play runs fine. I've played many MMO's and FPS online, so I know it's not because I can't connect. If I could just get some suggestions or a solution to the problem, it'd be great. I really wanna give this game a shot since I have friends that actually play it.

All I can say is update all your drivers, make sure your comp is clean, and open up any Router/Firewall/Antivirus/antyispyware/anything, that might be impeding your internet traffic. And do your updates/SP2

That's a strange one.

  • Have you tried the repair.exe tool in the wow folder?
  • Set the resolution and all graphic sliders to the lowest?
  • Run in safe mode (F8) with networking enabled? - not sure if it will TBH but worth a go
  • Turn off any security software - could be interfering with warden?

that would be my advise.

I've tried all of that, besides the repair.exe thing, only because I downloaded the trial version so I think it's not there. I've tried it on two different computers, once like 6 months ago, and now. Could it be because I only have the trial?
