Yes indeed. Feels go to be able to come home after a hard days of work to something  worth playing and get you in the action fast. I can not believe the bad reviews people been saying about this, it is very very shocking. I keep seeing this bad review on combat  (if you like playing console games then this MMO is for you)  so they rather play with same old slow combat instead, Heroes suppose to be fast.

What is slow boring combat for you is relaxing, more tactically friendly combat to us.  There are good reasons why there are seperate genres and platforms, each supporting specific play styles that appeal to specific audiences.  Hybridize them and you end up creating something that is viewed as mediocre by the majority of both audiences.

I don't think so.  I think combining the two is a natural fit.  Not everyone is gonna like it, but its a nice change of pace for the MMO market.  It's something new.  Believe it or not, there was a time when people thought chocolate and peanut butter shouldn't go together.  And....I don't know if you really speak to the majority.

I'm thinking of getting this game, but don't want to buy another COH/COV. Is there a large difference between this game and COH?

Both true, neither of you speak for the majority.  I will tell you that they've been hybridizing games for many years, such as the action-RPG, and merging other genres like RTS-RPGs and the like, and many games like that have been very popular.

I was in one of the first rounds of closed beta testers for EQ (they would mail the game CD! Wooo!). I've been using the same old combat system for 11 years now. Hell, I'd take anything else as long as its different.

I've played a few characters and I really don't get how combat is all that different in any major way?  I mean I go into battle I turn on my autoattack.  I then use my main attack and toss in some alternate attacks.  When I see a villian or master villian have something over his head I turn on my block and wait till he hits me then carry on.  Basically the only two things that are slightly different in combat is 1. I can use block which helps decrease damage from big attacks.  2. I can use any of my abilities as frequently as I like.  This removes the cool down restrictions although only sorta there is an implicit global cooldown in the energy build up from the autoattack.  I'm not saying I don't like it just that it isn't really all that different from any other combat system...

Current MMO dev teams = Keystone cops.A pure comedy of errors, sadly its not as intentional.

I only got a char to level 14, and i already have two powers with cooldowns.

Two things they got right,or close enough.

Block- An active defense is something MMOs need, and while this is an extremely "light" version of one, its one.

Custom power pick- That i can mix powers from sets is nice. Its a bit more restrictive than id like, but at least its there.

As for the rest,it has that "been there done that feeling" to it.Even more so than other games as alot  the costume options and powers are almost direct ports from CoX.Add to that ,im only level 14, and already i find myself unexcited about logging in.

CO is a baby step toward an action combat system. The games that tried to take bigger steps in that direction like Spellborn, Tabula Rasa, and D&D Online did not do as well in the market.

CO adds a fair amount of mobility, does away with the global cooldown that turns many games into a turn based combat system, and adds the occasional reflex check with blocking. Its not mind blowing, but if it were a complete combat revamp it would intimidate too many people to have any mainstream appeal.

I'm not sure I agree...  I think that combat really feels a lot like any other MMO and really not very super heroish at all.  I mean COH combat feels super.  You are fighting a group of mobs and they are flying all over you have awesome powers that can knock out a whole group with some massive attack or place a hold on the group.  In COH combat is different then any other game.  I feel that they dropped the ball here....

In other areas they did good.  I love the open quests just wish they had a lot more of them.  The equipment upgrades are good and even better now that I'm finding some upgrades actually do things.  The world in CO feels a lot better then the world did in COH.  In CO the game feels more like an MMO where COH is kinda like an endless run of instances that in many cases all feel the same.

It's so strange...I thought COH combat sucked because it was so slow.

I'm just playing a mainly healer-type, but my friend that's spec'd ice is freezing whole groups of mobs then making the icecicles explode.  That seems pretty superheroish?

I gotta wonder at that comment I underlined. How high level have you played CO? In CoH I sure didn't feel very super back when I still had 'brawl' in my attack chain and no travel power. In fact I felt pretty gimp. That lasted until the mid teens. Have you played CO to the mid teens? If you aren't feeling super by then then you might want to try a different power set.

I'm wondering what powers you've tried? At lv 13 with Room Sweeper (from the Might set) and Strength as a super stat I can knock up to 5 enemies in front of me up so high and far that they take falling damage when they come down! In the ghost town I was sending them up and over the houses, it was beyond awesome and if there is a cliff or something I can knock them over then that is the fight right there!

Who said anything about playing it every day? I assume most of gamers have a day job and other RL elements which prevents you from playing every day.

Different people like different things. I'm loving CO and will probably play it for a long time (got me a lifetime sub). Judging by the number of people constantly playing on the CO Open Beta, a lot of people are enjoying it too. However it's not for everyone. Some people just don't like superheroes that much, or prefer WoW or what have you. That's okay.

Say it with me: It's okay for other people to like other things.

Champions is a great game, and perfectly capable of coexisting alongside WoW or Aion or whatever. They're different and give you different experiences. Someone once said 'Variety is the spice of life.', there's no need to fight about which game is better.

If you enjoy it, play it, I know I will be. If you don't enjoy it, that's fine, play something else. Everyone's happy.

Dude! People talk smack about what they fear. CO is so superior its Epic! I have the character builder and have about a dozen characters I want to try. This game allows you to explore the final frontier...where the adventure is not the game or the world but it is YOU! YOUR DREAMS!

In CO whatever you want from whatever game, TV, Movie, Idea, Dream, Cartoon, anything. No limitations or waiting for someone to give you a piece...make Neo, Make Hulk, Make a Gi-Joe, Make the Terminator, Makea Sith, Make aelven Warrior.

My opinion is pretty much the opposite.  For me, CO combat has been much faster paced and "heroic" feeling than CoH was.  CoH always felt very slow to me for a superhero game - it felt much more like every other fantasy-based MMO in its pacing and format.  Case in point, the adherence to The Trinity that CoH has, which in my opinion does not fit well with the superhero genre.

CO, so far, does a better job of bucking that trend, though it still has elements of the Trinity included.

As stated above, the powers and pacing of combat in CO do a better job of giving a superheroic experience, in my opinion.  I don't pretend to know if the game will have long-lasting appeal, but it seems to have a good foundation from which to work.

Hell hath no fury like an MMORPG player scorned.
