If you look at the video on the german site, Overur explains that it is meant to be FOR CONSOLES ONLY, DESIGNED WITH THE LIVINGROOM PLAYERS IN MIND!!! Even as they described it they reinforced the idea that they were going to be kept seperate.

It would be great if this game allowed you to sit in your living room and play with your friends, because honestly, no one does it anymore! I have seen so many great FPS games on the console that try to be like a PC and only let one person play online at a time.
Whats the fun in that? Why even have a console when you can only play a game by yourself? I hope this game is different.

Because we all know how fair it would be to have PC gamers going against console gamers in an FPS...Seriously, just shut up and buy a console if you really want to play the game. They owe you people nothing. They don't have to make a pc version if it doesn't fit within their vision of this game. Personally I think this is an ingenius idea. Having a space MMO and then creating a ground FPS element and having them be part of the same world essentially but being two separate games (and having them effect one another)...that's awesome. That's revolutionary I think. This could ultimately lead to a game where all of the elements of the game world are represented by different (pure) genres and everything not only co-exists but everything effects everything else. Great use of technology too I think. Thumbs up! Can't wait to hear more. |

Yeah lets release a game on an unproven Console MMO crowd while the 300 thousand people wanting the game and willing to spend another 6 years in the eve universe get neglected. Stop the Console vs PC gamer thing already, consoles have come a long way so the two gamers going head to head will be fine. Hell I doubt the console gamers will play this game more than a year while the Eve fans on PC will enjoy the game for years because it's what we've been asking for ever since atmospheric flight demo was shown in '04. Dust 514 is the link to planetary exploration and conquest it would be a bonehead move to exclude us.

Phantasy Star Online/Universe and Final Fantasy XI are two console MMOs that have been relatively successful in their iterations. Just because there are tons more subscribers on the PC, doesn't mean that people wouldn't be willing to play the console version, if given the chance. I bet if World of Warcraft was released on consoles, it would have drawn a sizable crowd. So, don't let your cynicism blind you from the reality of the situation, just because you don't like what's going on. You're assuming way too much, and not giving CCP the benefit of the doubt. Shouldn't you at least trust their judgment a little? |

Of course not, I own a 360 but even I know console players wont stick to one game as long as PC gamers do, look at games like CS and HL2 as proof that PC gamers are a much more loyal playerbase than console gamers. PSO i actually played and the playerbase was very small on the DC and Universe is a freaking failure, I don;t have the console numbers for FFXI but it can't be high. So yes they're unproven. Comeback to this thread when CCPs Fanfest hits and I will be here telling you I told you so when CCP announces DuST as an actual addon to Eve online. CCP is a freaking brilliant company and releasing this thing on consoles only would be a massively stupid move.

There were 25 million copies of Halo series sold... Quite proven, imho. |

if this does not come out on pc...i will be very very very pissed. I do not own a 360, ps3 or wii.....and no way in hell i am buying one just for this. I would LOVE to play a fps where it would influence eve.....i would gladly pay for 2 seperate subs, but i am not buying a console. |

I gotta say CCP has gone up a notch of respect from me from the innovation their pulling here.

What I've read in this entire thread is people basing their ideas of what 514 will be or will be like on little to no information, well let me just enlighten you a little bit. If you haven't read http://www.massively.com/2009/07/21/eve-online-social-network-cosmos-coming-with-winter-expansion/ please go read it now because that is the bridge between EVE and 514 and that just answers one of your questions as to how both games would interact. But now the problem is how it would affect Sovereignty (If I held SOV I would be pissed and pleased because 514 gives me more to do as well as more to worry about), this I do not know but I can tell you its going to affect both null sec and FW in more ways than one and there wont be just 2 planets where they have deathmatches, it would be several planets that would require the eve players to actually pick infantry up and transfer them to the different planets, therefore giving the EVE players more reason to play and more reason to fight and attack each others SOV (also more reason for the server to crash...;). From what I've heard the ships in eve will be given life support modules so they can carry infantry in cargo bays. And the planets will most likely have something in the way of capture the flag, that is to that guy who said deathmatches. The truth is I don't think CCP will let the console gamers depend mainly on the EVE players, the console game may have its NPCs that will give missions and money and that should mainly be based around FW but the player stuff that is based on SOV will have to be done through contracts and EVE alliances expanding into console infantry. That is my little tidbit of speculation and info, please proceed with you discussion. This is not a game. |

That is my point as well, CCP lead us to believe that one day, EVE Online would be this grand combination of the current space game, with WIS, a groundbased component, planetary interaction, planetary flight and even RTS. So that it would be a complete experience where many different kinds of people could play. And I really don't have a problem with Console players, I do have a problem with it being a seperate game, exclusively for console players AND influencing the main game at the same time.

Lets see. CCP have created their very own, very unique engine for EVE Online, which they named Walking in Station (WIS). Ok, they will include it in EVE next spring, probably.
They told, they will unveil more info about Dust 514 this November at EVE Fanfest. I am sure, they don't want to tell there, that, all you guys here suck. We create new features, wich you won't be able to play. :D If I were CCP, I would try to get more money out of my many years of WIS development. That will be Dust 514. If I were CCP I would also include it in EVE Online, to get more subscriptions. Double win scenario. I will increase my EVE scubsrcriber base, and I will open my game for even more subscribers of console players.
If I were Blizzard, I would feel the pain in my *ss.
This is the most ambitious and promising project of the last (say) 10 years of game development.

You have to remember that there are many eve players that are console gamers and many that enjoy FPSs in general and would definitely support their game by playing 514 if it turns out to be a very good FPS control wise, story wise and gameplay wise. This is not a game. |

Wow over reaction much? This is a separate game than EVE. You don't have to play it. It is a game that is meant for consoles, and FPS's on consoles are very good. There are basically no hacks, and incredibly fun to play once you get good. Why does this piss you off so bad? You think that the company owes something to you to make every game they release for the rest of eternity on PC with a 100% focus on what Lumster wants? Give me a break.
Did you even bother reading the article before opening your trap?
"This interplay between the two games opens the EVE universe to console gamers and gives them a chance to become part of one of the most massive cooperative play and social experiences ever."
