While it might be good that there will be no "epix", it is not realistic. Majority of MMO players enjoy that aspect of the game. They love improving their characters skills and gear. Take that away and your game is unlikely to do very well. |

Damn, this was the only toss between WoW and this game. Looks like WoW for me then... WoW already has a big and structured community with plenty of events and game content. Then hearing this makes it even worse, cause at least I don't have to wait another year for WoW.

Greatest threat to society is letting casualties of puberty reproduce. |
Great they are not catering to the hardcore. Too bad it sounds like they will still have raids. I don't mind it taking longer to reach max level it would be nice to actually be able to enjoy the journey again. |

Tor is a mmoRPG I capsed the last three cause those are the important ones, it's an rpg, that means it's a role playing game. I know a lot of you know not these words, but okay it is you is just how you is. RPG's are slow, they make you seek out things, do side quests, and explore the whole of a planet. Most mmo's are simply MMOG's massive multiplayer online games, they don't have the cotent to really be a traditional rpg. Does that mean they are not for your hard core gamers, no, infact most hardcore rpg's take pride is setting completion records. Game X bosts it has 70 hours of gameplay to beat everything, hardcore rpgers push to beat it in 40-50 hrs. But I also am a hardcore gamer, I set speed records for leveling usually out leveling whole groups of guild mates doing the same stuff. That does not mean I won't love everysecond of that bottle neck, if done right it will be worth going slow just to enjoy the world. Think of it like a race car driver, you can drive at 200 + miles perhour, but if you see a road that is worth enjoying don't you slow down for it? |

Start worrying about other players in a game and dont just play |
Saying you wont go for the Hardcore is in my book the same as saying we have no Endgame. So that is no epix, no raid system, and no teritory wars in the END. At this point I actually expect that Bioware thinks people will just roll another class when they finished the first one. This will prolong the games life span a few extra months. But it will not save them... THe only thing you can do as a developer, In this age of computer gaming, is focus on the Hardcore players. NOBODY wants to be AVRAGE JOE! people want a challenge. Dont sell your customers short, thinking they just want an esy game they can blow thru in a month or so... I smell EPIC FAILURE... and please remeber that I said this... |

With WoW Cataclysm going towards the "be more simple, make things easier" route, and ToR apparently trying to gun for the casual gamer, but at the same time having complex mechanics and lots of decisions, I dont see how they want to win out against Cataclysm at all. At least if the casual gamer indeed exists the way everyone thinks, as an individual with a neverending hunger for feeling special, yet no skill, interest or inclination to be that way. |
