I was on the asmodian side. I always play on the lighter side (see "good", but of course both sides are righteously crazy), and this time I decided for the more demonic look.

Mostly I kept to myself and my friends, but I *Always* made sure to buff and heal everyone around me and start groups when soloing and needed a popular mob.

Like others have said, the best way to stop asshattery, is to lead by example and take control of the area by helping out those around you. They'll remember you, and are more likely to spread their good mood.

Be a jerk and they'll spread that around like a bad smell. Just remember kids, everyone check your shoes before you walk into a zone... :)

Wait what? Community? Am I missing something here? All betas I played there was not a single person that grouped with me, nor was there any interaction between players at all (Siel)

I was on Siel server, both sides, and it was very social.  I think the good mood, as said before, is helped by the fact that there are very few bugs in the beta, and everything feels polished.  Also, there are plenty of people wanting to escape the ass-hattery of other games, and this one gives them the opportunity to start the community on the right foot.  It also helps that it's just Elyos vs Asmodians vs Balaur.  If they had open pvp servers, you might see all the assholes crawl out of the woodwork ready to gank and teabag to their hearts' content.

I found the people to be pretty good I got some random help when near death a couple of times and found I was getting buffed alot by random people running by.  I have found the people on betas to be much worse than live, contrary to post above kind of like the kind of people you get on test servers.   I made sure as a cleric that I was buffing those around me as well.   I actually saw  people waiting to kill some quest npc's instead of just running past those already there and wacking away.

I do not think the community wil be any better than other games, but i Agree that the beta did have a good community

As much as i would like the community to be "Noob Friendly" forever, it will eventualy get out of hand, to the point where half of the low levels do nothing but begg for cash/help leveling up, and the other half is forced to suffer for there greed.

So my advice is enjoy it while it lasts folks.

This is pretty much my opinion as well, but thats fine with me.  People are going to start competing, drama will surely ensue, and then the forums lawls will roll out.
