I played SWG pre-cu too, and I enjoyed it a lot. But it's gone and it's not coming back. So what does that have to do with this game? Oh, right, you've already played it and know all there is to know about it?

Even if you're correct, so what? It's just a game, made for enjoyment. It's not a virtual world for you to escape from your obviously tortured and pathetic life. The world does not exist (and not virtually, either) in order to please you and your ilk. The world simply exists, it's up to you find your joy within it. If you can't, then you lose at the biggest game of them all.

I think it's silly to hate a game before you have even tried it because you dislike that it's not SWG, or because the graphics are not AoC/LotRO style.

Hmm, trying to think of other games that went more stylized looked....

Anyway, this makes me wonder if this means two force classes per side.

So, uh, yeah, as I was saying, the art is awful.  Stylized or not.  Not all art that comes out is good.  For every DaVinci there are thousands of other artists whose style nobody likes.  This style does not belong in a Star Wars game.  That's not an opinion, that's - well, actually yes, that's an opinion. :p

    The reason they used the characters in the septology is so that more people can relate what it's going to be like, just plain a simple.  There are more people who understand the stuff from the movies than the lore from the Old Republic.  Therefore that is why they are likening them to the septology characters. 

    As for the people saying the graphics suck and what not, one of the things I find most refreshing about ToR is the character and environment designs.  I know there are many of us out there that are just plain tired of everything looking realistic.  Sometimes I just want to get away, that's what my MMO-playing (or game-playing even) is for.  To get away from the real.  Some games, I like more realistic, like FPS's, but I don't want everything so. 

    As for the guy saying this isn't an MMO, what is the deal?  They've said that it's going to have everything MMO's have:  grouping, raids, pvp, crafting and even space travel.  Bioware hasn't ever lied to me, don't know about you, they said those things are going to be in there then they will be in there. 

    Now, I know there are many guys who miss SWG and I miss it too.  However, this is a new game, this is another company, this is another opportunity for a Star Wars experience.  I'm not going to let anything stand between me and it.  Opinions are opinions, that I understand, please don't berate or belittle others because they don't understand them.  I understand that some don't like the game, thank you for giving your opinion, that's what it is though.  I plan on enjoying this game just how it looks.

Because EVERYBODY thinks riding swoop for 20min to get to the middle of nowhere only to find 3 Stormtroopers standing around a flag dancing and clapping for each other is more representative of Star Wars than anything SWTOR will offer.

Yes BioWare is gonna trash the SW canon with actual Star Wars content that makes you feel like you are playing star wars! Because in Bazzaro World, maybe, just maybe there were people doing hump macros in the ID tent in Theed during the GCW!!!

Dunno what to say about the graphics...they look ok-ish. TBH if i'll like the game play i couldnt care less about the graphics.

Maybe they are going for a game that will require somewhat last the latest pc to be able to play it so it would have an larger audience...don't forget that that's one of the reasons wow is so popular altho it's crap. I just hope they don't do it like Fallen Earth (at least at it's current state)...requires more resources then AoC to actually play it and the graphics are nowhere near as good...i dont mean the style i mean the lvl of details etc

As for guys with it's art and crap like that...with enough polygons and polish you can make even a s**t look good heh. Bus as i said before the graphics seem ok for me

i don't like the art style at all.  However i do hope the gameplay is decent (graphics < gameplay) and this class sounds kinda fun.

First off, this is the Old Republic, right?? So why do they keep making classes modeled around EP 1-6 characters??

IE: the "Sith Warrior" is modeled after Vader. The Smuggler is modeled after Solo.

Well, I guess you would try and make us believe that Darth Vader was the first Sith Warrior to ever exist and certainly the first one to wear armor.  The Sith Empire is tens of thousands of years old, I'm sure there were all kinds of Darths before Vader and I'm sure some of them could have possibly worn armor just for the hell of it.  It's iconic for the Star Wars Universe, not just episodes 1 -6.  Smugglers existed before Solo as did Bounty Hunters before Boba Fett.

I don't know why you keep harping on a game you obviously don't like.  We got it the first few hundred posts, maybe it's time you moved on and left us in peace.

You're confused. The quote I added at the beginning of my post was from the linked interview. I'm not the one who seems to think that Vader was the first Sith warrior, man.

My entire point was that they are ignoring THE OLD REPUBLIC EU entirely, and basing this game off EP 1-6 "iconic" characters, in an effort to make the game more "Star Warsy".

Further evidence of the dumbing down of the game, due to the percieved stupidity of their target audience.

I think the graphics have a decent look but as stated so often before ones opinion of the art is subject only to who views it I like it some don't but I also agree as long as the art work met a certain standard that only I can determin for myself I would play it if the gameplay was good.  I don't have anything particular against any of you who don't like the art or the game but I do tend to hear what I suspect is a bit of sour grapes mixed in with some of the commentary by this games detractors, for some it sounds as if because this game is not trying to be what SWG was that nothing they do will please you which again is your right but I think if you were a star wars fan it wouldn't matter and you'd try it anyway.  I grew up on Star Wars much more so than I grew up playing mmo's so I would be trying it if for no other reason than that.

I've often been of the mind that a sandbox is truly what you make it especially in a virtual world every game that I've ever played is a sandbox there was nothing I could do in SWG that I can't do in LOTRO as long as Bio Ware can do this for me as well I will like the game,so long as they deliver a technically sound game and avoid falsely advertising features that won't end up in game or won't work in game I will have had my opinion of them reinforced,  that they are a trust worthy and reputable company which is too uncommon in the mmo field right now.  I may play it and in the end not like it but for now it's what I expect and what I'd like to see happen.

As long as the game plays well the graphics are fine. I just hope the storyline is engaging and for once a game will have a decent community.

HMM  Wearing armour eh? maybe its to do with how you want to play the class.

Sith warrior wearing robes would be nimble ( good dodge ) and have high DPS. Rather like Darth Maul.

Sith warrior wearing armour would be more of a tank, high armour value but with very little damage output. Like Vader really

I just hope there is more to this game than the storylines. Bioware stories are great, but they are going to need more than just a good story to keep subscriptions flowing.

As an SWG vet, I find this hilarious.  I seem to remember one of the reasons for eliminating the various hand weapon classes was because LucasArts said it was not "Star Warsy" enough, and everyone should be running around with light sabers or blasters.  Now they add a Warrior class with swords to SWTOR?  Nice.

   Well from what we can tell, What BioWare's James Ohlen told us. Is possably true..but not everyone on the team of working with game's know's whats going on in the game. We all know this and they all have diffrent teams and not all teams know for fact what is going on with the other teams....Sure they have the basic idea but for details...Questianable.

 Since it is not out on the site yet, It will not be conformed yet. But there has to be a Sith and a Jedi class. otherwise this game would be pointless. I Know i may play a Trooper fore sure, but i would like to have the option to play a Sith. SWG Was a good start at a good star wars game when it started....After the screw up it went to Crap. Who ever decided that should of been fired. SWTOR i have no dout will be a better game, better gfx and "ART "then SWG, And overall Better storylines then SWG. This is Fact not Fiction. So there really is no issues to discuss among those Facts. The Gamplay will be diffrent. And hopefully Better then SWG but all we can do is hope.

 I'm Eager to see how bioware can do with a mmo. This is there first and from what i've seen....they have placed pet's...witch kind of take the place of actual people for companion's...so i started to have some dout they know what there doing. MMO's are ment for lots of people to play togeather......Why have so many pet's to play with in the game rather then people..and i have not seen much player with player action or gameplay footage...So. There is still lots of time left to revival more information about it though so it will have to be a wait and see.

 Personly I love meeting new people and fighting with them or even crafting and taking part in stories lines. I hope they have'nt knocked the meaning of mmo out of there game and we dont just play a single player mmo. It would be pointless to pay 14.99 to play a game where you can't really play with your friends much at all.
