My son in law and two of my grandsons told me i just had to try it Having played many console and PC single player games but never playing an MMO i thought it would be fun to play with my grandsons so away i went. Played for around two years or so then LOTRO was released and being a Tolkien fan for many years i moved to it and EQ2. And like a previous poster said, i realized WOW was nothing special and in fact lacking in immersion for me. |

I quit, because every time I would bust my ass to get a set, a new one came out. I don't mind getting new gear, but they push new gear out quickly. Another reason was, they didn't put out new PvP content consistently enough. Sure it got a little bit better after TBC, but not much. IMO for each PvE update there should be a PvP update to go with it. |

Of course anyone has the right to post here, even someone who has never played the game has the right to post about any subject here, but you have to admit that it gives you a weaker platform if you are talking from second or third hand experience. Someone who quit pre BC talking about how the changes in Lich King have affected the gameplay is on pretty shaky ground to start with don't you think??? Zorn is Zorn and can be a little over zealous in defending the game he likes, but as you have already pointed out yourself he has every right to do so and at least he does take the time to research an answer or speaks from direct experience when doing so. It must be Thursday, i never could get the hang of Thursdays. |

It really doesn't take 4 years to figure something like this out. I can respect people who say they got bored, don't like the direction blizzard is taking the game or just never got into it in the first place. Some of the hyperbole that goes on is just as much over the top as zondorf can get sometimes. I really think people get bored of wow and when they move on realize how bad the rest of the market is in comparison. That is why it is so commonplace for people to keep coming back time and time again even when they are bored to death with the game. For all the talk people do about how wow is the worst at this or that, you almost never hear anyone back up those claims with a game that is better. To tell the truth I can somewhat relate to the frustration, because I would love that "new game" feeling again from something fun to play again, but it just isn't our there right now for me and I suspect others here as well.

Why do you think it's strange? It's happening with married couples all the time. |

Comparing marriage to a video game is a pretty bad comparison to be honest. |

True ... I guess I was trying to describe the emotional state, beginning with love and ending with hate in a big period of time. |

Because of the mindless item grind and the lack of massive game play. |

I'm going to respond to your OP only since I don't give a rats ass what others say in this thread. I quit because WoW is nothing but a soulless gear grind. You have two options in WoW You can run raids forever or Instance pvp forever for items. Not much of a choice tbh. The items you grind thousands of raids and pvp mini games for get replaced by expansions and new armor updates constantly. Basically giving you a less than satisfactory feeling of achievement. WoW's crafting is a waste of time tbh and all that's left is rolling alt after alt. I just got tired of it. All the money Blizzard makes and they release content on the average of your run of the mill 150k sub P2p MMO. After trying other MMOs I've found that WoW really wasn;t anything special and that I wasted years playing a game when I could of supported a better MMO development house. Do you really want to go back to running instances everytime your on for purple items just so they could be replaced within months? WoW is just the same content over and over again. Look at the latest patch they gave players a one room dungeon thats basically a loot pinata and the playerbase being so addicted is eating it up lol. Don't waste your time seriously

Ive never really quit, just.stopped playing. Mostly over the summer, too hot to sit behind a pc in a stuffy room. Never really because of gear grinding, tho pvp always put me off, its just a bit shit in that game ever since the 2nd round of AV changes went in and it became a zerg race. I miss the matches which last half hour-hour, they were legendarily fun and will always be an iconic gaming treasure for me, no matter what game I go to. Plus I'll probably resub when Ony goes live, if only for that month Playing polished, lag free, feature complete games is carebear. Whining about a game you hate but still play is hardcore man! |

I really been thinking about quitting. I been playing since open beta. I extremely enjoyed this game through classic. And TBC was not so bad, It was lacking though. WOTLK has basically killed this game for me. Only thing keeping me in the game is the PvP. I know most of you will say PvP in WoW is pretty bad. But the freedom (movement) aspect of it is kinda enjoyable. Played plenty of MMOs and WoW seems to have the best PvP (not balanced I know) I have played, just an opinion, not fact by any means. So basically the twitch gameplay is whats keeping me around. Some of the problems can be seen in videos like www.warcraftmovies.com/movieview.php I'll add some of the problems in this video have been fixed in 3.2. But many more still plague the game. |

I quit back in March after running Naxx for 6 months. They've appealed to the casuals and driven their hardcore playerbase or what was left of it away. But hey, business is business and you've got to do w/e makes the most money for your company, I guess. If you're tired of none challenging mmo's try EvE online. It was the best advice I took about 5 months ago. |

I quit because, no matter how hard they try to make it seem otherwise, the game is solely geared towards hardcore raiding. I was able to do that for a long time and I enjoyed it at first, but eventually I got tired of spending all of my free time waiting for jackasses I don't know to get ready for boss fights and then putting up with constant drama from guildmates over epic items that were replaced every few months. I tried to just PvP for a while, but the PvP in WOW is sorely lacking. It is just another form of boring grinding and after a few months I can't bear to play it anymore. But I do have a special place in my heart for the game. It was tons of fun for 4 years... |

I quit back in Novemberish of 08, got bored of the content mainly was my reason for quitting. Recently though my account got hacked after almost 9 months of unactive and Blizzard deleted my account due to that so can't play again even if I wanted to, lol. And in no way in hell I'm making another account. |
