And if you do, make sure you are dressed properly like all the studly karate kids:

Well first of all, your statement is contradictory. It pretty much assumes that a responsible level-headed individual would somehow snap in a single moment. I'm not sure if that's even mentally possible. A crazy person carrying a gun would show up crazy. And if someone who was crazy did show up, the responsible guy who is carrying the gun would have a much better chance of taking him out than if he was unarmed.
No. It assumes that all that is needed is ONE not so level headed person carrying a gun at these rallies for things to turn really bad, really quickly. A "crazy person" doesn't have neon sign over his/her head designating them as "crazy". Hell! Look at Mark David Chapman. He asked John Lennon to autograph his copy of Double Fantasy just like thousands of other fan did before plugging several bullets into his back a few hours later. Your premise of being able to spot mentally unstable people in a crowd is faulty at best. And to add to that you don't need someone who is mentally unbalanced to set things off. All you need is someone who is drunk, feeling like a bad-ass or just has a major chip on his/her shoulder to light the fuse to this powder keg. I really don't want to come back to this thread and say "I told you so". I honestly, truly hope it doesn't come to that. But unless people start thinking and using common sense, the likelihood of that happening is getting higher and higher. |

I hate guns
But, if they're within their legal rights, then people should not give them a hard time for doing nothing illegal. If anybody's got problems with that, then take it up to your government & local officials. EQ1-AC1-DAOC-FFXI-L2-EQ2-WoW-DDO-GW-LoTR-VG-WAR I can't believe I'm playing EQ1 again...and having tons of fun |

Abortion is legal. However, that said, I do not condone abortion, I would like to see more outreach by agencies such as Catholic Social Services to those considering abortion to place their child up for adoption. Four of my friends have adopted through Catholic Social Services because they were unable to have children. I think it is a win-win option for both the mother, the child, and my friends. The abortion card is played far too much and far to quickly by certain medical practitioners that stand to make a fast buck. It is against their business practices to first direct a mother to alternative solutions. Just because the mother doesn't want the child doesn't mean that nobody else does.

Originally posted by deviliscious Your logic is faulty. People have killed people for thousands of years. People killed people before there were guns. A gun is nothing more than a tool. People kill people with anything they can get their hands on, not just guns. You cannot " killer safety" the world . People have been known to kill others with everything from frying pans to their range tops, taking away the " tools " do not solve the problem. It does not make them more responsible, accountable or value human life. It does not save lives. It just leaves people defenseless. More people die from household accidents and car accidents than from guns should we ban homes and cars as well? It would be nice if the world were that simple, but it is not. Most of the " terrorist attacks we hear about are not involving guns, not they are car bombs.. You take one thing away another more lethal alternative will take it's place, you will just have less people able to try and prevent something terrible from happening. The world doesn't work that way. Should we ban them as well? ofcourse not. Homes and cars have primary uses. This does not count for guns. We have no other use for them besides killing. |

I think what really has the left upset is that armed citizens are much harder for union thugs to bully and assault.

You know damn well that they're major reason for bringing the weapons wasn't self defense. |

I don't know that and unless you are a mind reader, neither do you. After what the union thugs did, I would be as armed as legally possible when attending one of these events if union members were likely to be there. And while I would prefer to carry concealed, if open carry was the legal way to go then open carry it would be.

I was thinking more in the lines of "What or who do these people need to defend themselves from? They are the ones with the semi-automatic weapons!" |
