Standalone Patch for Those with Launcher Issues For those of you having trouble patching via our launcher, we've been able to provide the missing files you need to run the game via a direct download. The file is a self-extracting ZIP file. Read on for instructions on how to apply the patch: 1. Install the latest version of the game client from IGN if you have not already available at: http://www.fileplanet.com/203771/200000/fileinfo/Champions-Online-Open-Beta-Client. |

Hopefully the game will move away from these generic problems and we'll get to see some gameplay impressions. Too bad that the RMT item mall is there though, otherwise I would be checking the game myself. |

I've been monitoring the CO IRC channel. the stand alone patch works only with the most recent fileplanet download. It will not work with the older one. |

The patcher itself seems to be working much better for me as well. Bring it on down now. |

I'm going this route now and so far I"ve gotten farther than ever before but still hanging with 21MB left. They make this fix sound like it patches the whole thing with nothing left to download but I had 35MB when I started after the OB Fix file. Those who are getting this to work did you do a fresh install of the new client then OB fix? or Old Client, overwrite with Newer Client, then OB Fix? I did the latter and am having issues still. Thinking about a fresh install. |

I did a fresh install with the new Fileplanet client, followed by the standalone patched files, and I too have 25mb to go. This is really getting annoying, because this standalone was supposed to patch everything, not just lower the size of files for the patcher to mess up. At the end of the day, I'm still getting patcher problems, so I'm still out to pasture. |

i have a PLAY button, wohoo!! I'll let you know if the game works after this post when I go to sign-on to the servers and play. 1) Install the newest client from Fileplanet 2) Install OB Fix immediately after you install the client 3) Download the "exes.hogg" file from MegaUpload, someone in the Official Champions Forums posted this and others said it worked so I tried it and it did. It appears that most people are hanging up on the GameClient.exe file even after the OB Fix. To see if this is the case with you press "x" while the patcher is running and you can see what it is hanging up on. If that's the file download it. 4) Copy the file to "C:\Program Files\Cryptic Studios\Champions Online\Live\piggs" folder 5) Re-start the Patcher 6) Voila! You should have a Play button now....... off to test if it actually plays now....... |

I'm using the pre load client I downladed 2 days ago. Installed that, let it run on to the login screen, then closed it, ran the standalone patch. now i'm getting a lot more stable client performance, even though I'm still patching, it is actually working. Pity they chose to put the updated file client on that stupid fileplanet. It's woeful. Half an hour wait to start a 1.8 GB download which looks as if it's going to take anything between 8 hours and infinity to complete. A conspiracy theorist might conclude that Cryptic actually own flieplanet (or vice versa) and they are trying to boost fileplanets subscriptions...personally I would never suggest such a thing :p |

It's about damn time. The FilePlanet download is going to take a couple of hours, but that's still faster than the patcher. |
|
|
follow my steps and download that file from MegaUpload, it makes it work and you don't have to download anything through the patcher, puts you straight to the Play button like I said earlier and I'm only posting again to confirm that I did just play for about 30 mins or more and didn't have any problems. the game looked pretty bad until I adjusted video settings and it looks really nice, can't wait until I actually have time to play tomorrow. I went through every possible solution and the one I just posted works, trust me. |
|
|
After 16 hours ... finally I have all the files and can login. I was so expecting it to hang when it said 99% .. but it finished and the "PLAY" button finally came up. |

I tried this patch on the pre-load client. Absolutely no difference. I guess I have to redownload the new one - fanfuckingtastic. These guys are lucky I'm a fan of CoX, otherwise I would have stopped caring long ago. |

Beta. No need to say more. It's not that you are in position to make demands. Not at all. The workaround did a nice job for me. |

Really? Last I checked, I decide whether I'll be spending my money on this. And we're not living in 2001, a smooth experience is to be expected. I doubt the majority give a shit whether it's beta. They're here to enjoy the game, and this company should know it. ESPECIALLY this company. How did they mess this up? They aren't new to the game. When there are a dozen MMOs on the horizon at any one point, you only get to make a first impression once. |

That's a pretty harsh assessment and I don’t think it is entirely true. Has anyone ever had a smooth launch? Even WoW was plagued by queue times and server crashes. If everyone decided not to play a game because of a issue with its Pre-Launch “Open Beta” none of the current MMOs would be played. I really don’t understand why everyone is getting so upset about this problem. They have released a fix within a day. I could understand if this went on for the better part of the week, but this doesn’t seem to be that big of a deal. Next time this happens I suggest you all take a deep breath and find something else to do for the night. |

@Duvious thx for your little "how to", i will try it later, if the download is done.

But this file was apparently no good. they uploaded a new patch 5 mins before open beta lunch.
Once you get ingame maybe it will be good but what assurances do i have they wont pull this crap again when they go live? I'm thinking I'm going to wait a month or so after release cause I'm getting the vibe this launch will be a disaster
Cryptic please focus efforts on the patcher / launcher system. If people cant get into your game then they will be returning their copies to gamestop / ebay, etc. It's a valid reason for folks to demand money back
and most importantly------
Dump FILEPLANET! Looks like we have to wait days for the 'new' file to d/l.Ironically, your short term greed may cost you in the long run..... |
