I've ever seen. Even Dark and Lights patcher worked better then this thing. Regardless of how many people are trying to patch there clients. LotrO had over 1million people patching on open beta day, no isses. Vanguard on open beta day .. np , AoC strss test day.. np... Crypic has been in the business for well over 5 years now, and thi s patcher has to be deliberatly funked up , there is no other excuse for this unproffessional client. |

I agree. I can understand first day of the open beta problems. I can understand a slow download. What I'm having trouble stomaching is their crappy, crappy patcher. A patcher should be the simplest of all steps. Run patcher, log in, wait. That's it. It should automatically take care of itself. If it loses connection, it should find it again. If it has to restart, it should do it by itself. If it has to move files, it should do it by itself. It should never freeze. It should never hang. This is absolutely ridiculous. I've been babysitting this stupid thing for hours and I've still gotten nowhere. I know they are calling this an 'open beta', but Cryptic is seriously mistaken if they think it isn't going to impact their sales when they can't even manage to patch the game properly. Nowadays, 'open beta' means 'preview' or 'first impression'. |

I'm just about done with it, I will give it until tomorrow to work, but that is the dead line for myself. I refuse to test a client patcher for more the 2 days lol... |

You guys are all so dramatic. Open beta is two whole weeks, and some are acting as if it's the end of the world if they don't get their beta gameplay right now. It's broken, it sucks, they're working on it. We know. It's not like this is the first time a patch or launch day has ever had problems. WoW still has them and they've been out for 5+ years. Just take a breath, read a comic book, and give it a try later. Or tomorrow. It's not the end of the world. "Because it's easier to nitpick something than to be constructive." -roach5000 |

2 weeks all of sudden becomes 13days, then 12 days, then 11 days , ect and so on, I have no cofidence this will even be fixed this week. It kind of makes you wonder, if they even coded the game... cause with professionals, they can usually pinpoint the problems , specially one that is caused by networking, and fix it. I can see the people at cryptic now trying to contact the Korean guy who coded the client lol... |

It's that it did happen before in earlier mmos. I stated elsewhere that developers should be more experience then this. This patcher is horrible. WoW has 5million players and rarely has problem on patch days now. Also It released 5years ago when mmos were still new. Most mmos that were newer had launch day and stress day nailed down right. Cryptic develop an mmo before this. They shouldn't be allowed excuses. It feels under-budget and rushed. -- |

its kinda strange actually. Ive been closed beta testing this game for weeks now. We've downloaded patches that are 400 mb to gigabytes worth and the patcher has worked extremely fast up until today. Just this past weekend I downloaded a 400mb patch in maybe 3 minutes. Even the 3 gigabytes I downloaded when I first got into the beta took maybe 30 minutes. but anyway its worked flawlessly and extremely fast, up until today (not sure what the guy above me is posting about. I dont recall any patcher issues during CBT). I guess dont use today as an example of the patchers performance because its been working without fault for a very long time. I guess they accomplished a goal by pegging their patch server and finding a bottleneck with a massive amount of users accessing it.

Edit: You are right that something happen with networking. It what stress test are for but It a patcher like other stated. I really hope the problem is caused by an outside source and not number of players. -- |

This is some seriously entertaining stuff. I expected problems on opening day. Just not a total and epic fail from cryptic. I was in the LOTRO beta. It never not worked. It was awesome from the start. From the earliest beta to today LOTRO has been an awesome game with virtually no bugs. But this, this is just inexcusable. I'm a programmer. For who ever was in charge of knowing how many beta keys were given out. YOUR FIRED! I would have fired me for the this epic failure of an opening day. There is no excuse for this lame set of excuses. I've read many posts from players (at least they have tried to play) and the devs and It's a sad sad day for this company. When Cryptic announced that both CHO and STO would be not only micro-transaction based but you would also have to pay a subscription. I was done with them. Sure you can buy a $199 "Lifetime" membership to CHO, then keep paying and paying with micro-transactions for all of time. No Thanks. Not gonna fly. You either do free to play/micro-transaction or subscription. Not both. It's the "Worst of Both Worlds" imaginable. Were looking at you BIOWARE! SWTOR here we come! |

See what I mean about people being dramatic? lol People freak out and act like this is a travesty and hasn't ever happened before. WoW STILL has problems on some patch days. I remember them putting out a patch that ended up erasing everyone's ingame mail for two weeks, like 6 months ago. I also find it amusing the stance that people are taking. They want to play the game so badly, they're so angry that they can't have it right now, so they troll the forums and hate on the game and claim they'll never play it. If you'll never play it and hate the game, then why are you getting so upset over not get it right now? Hold your breath till you pass out, stomp your feet, you're angry, we get it. The world's not gonna end, and plenty of people will be happily playing the game tomorrow. "Because it's easier to nitpick something than to be constructive." -roach5000 |

I am going on 9.3% done and I have left this running all day long.. 9 hours and only 9% done.. it is pathetic patching system.
I have a 20Mbps cable connection through Mediacom and I have never had trouble downloading at high speeds. I am going at dial up speeds, actually worse then dialup with this patching system.

I'm not angry. I rarely get angry, and if i feel the slightest bit annoyed, the game gets deleted off of the hard drive :). Stating my opinion as how I proceive the game client of right now on Tuesday (day 2) It is the worst i've ever seen :) |

Yes, the patcher had no problems during closed beta, ever. For some reason I think we should point our fingers towards FilePlanet, since they are the ones "hosting" this open beta and Cryptic failed when trusting they'd handle this. If I remember correct, they also hosted the Age of Conan's beta and that start wasn't smooth either... |

If they can't even manage open beta patching, how in the world are they going to handle live traffic? |

This patcher sucks worse than I've ever seen. Even Vanguard functioned much better than this. At least we could get into the game. This really sucks
