I think GW is the only "MM"ORPG that is like that.

i know of ano MMORPG's with a box price but no subscription, you can go with ORPG's Diablo 1/2 is my only suggestion

Then you have to pony up for the monthly fees or wait for Guild Wars. That's just the way it is.'

An alternative could be to try Anarchy Online.

The better alternative is to get a job that pays $20 a month. No doubt you can figure out how to do that.

There is also Roma Victor which will be just like GW, you buy it retail (or from the online store) and then there are no monthly fees. Expansions and in game stuff will cost money however.

Yeap...:

-Guild Wars
-Roma Victor
-Anarchy Online(Original only).

Well,GW isnt like the other MMORPG's..its different (kinda like Rudolph was different ::::02:: ) but if you are looking for more Online RPG's,try some of these:

-Diablo 2
-Neverwinter Nights
-Dungeon Seige

Hope this helps....

Hi HK-21

I sugest you try Neverwinter Nights its an AD + D rpg its gone gold so you can get the 2 expansion packs with it .Its a full single player game but has a full multiplayer community. It has is own game engine with the game to make your own worlds.there is well over 300 player run worlds all of them are free to play and serveral development comunities out there developing new material as well as bioware free patches.

This is the best value for money game I have played it cost nothing after the game purchase.I know lots of people who have played this game for 3 or 4 years.

I am going to try guild wars beta and it thats any good ill mostly buy it . I cant afford monthly fees either .
