Well im not entirely sure Transformers would translate that well into a pure MMORPG. But if i won some competition to give out 3 ideas for such a mmo that the deve will ahve to impliment then id sujest the following.

1. 3 factions not just the autobots and Decepticons but why not have Unicrons forces there too [afterall in the later Transformer stories Unicron was an important plotline.

2. Fully custamisable Avitars with modular construction [i.e. like replacing your feet with tracks or Changing how your head looks by adding extra eyes for example], that and perhaps some painting ability of your Transformer.

3. As Transformers is going to lend itself to a PvP heavy game why not ahve co-operative transformers where like in the latest movie devistator is amde up from several Decepticons combined into one big one. Controll wise one person who transforms into the head can turn the head and fire any wepons on it. the body can controll movement Each leg has a turret of some sort and so forth. if someone in the formation lags out that bodypart is taken over by the computer unless its the body then you are given the option of taking it over instead.

Personally tho i dont think transformers will make for a very deep story driven MMO as it will more likely be like a battleground zerg rush 24\7.

"Easy" only equals "better" for crack addicts and MMORPG developers.

The problem here is... it DIDNT make a great movie.  It made  a shitty action movie with a lame teenage love story as its center, and totally shit on the original IP.

That being said, I don't think it would make a good MMO either.

Imagine a giant 3d game world were you are born on cybertron. there is no loading screens just the vast mechanical enviornment. you can wander and explore the planet and find other robots, although some robots are not freandly some have choosen to raid peacfull robots. and thus you have an mmo of transformers.

-there would be no character development

-you would cutomize you bot upon birth

-customization of bots would range from hundreds of thousands of different combinations

-all custom bot designs would be completely balanced with the all the others

-players who have far more skill than other players would be as the commanders of the bots untill they are out skilled or overthrown

-evil leaders would be constantly watching there back for there evil minoins could attempt to stab them in there back

-good leaders would for there groups around freindship and trust and could maybe elect there comanders

-bot groups would not be a mechanical game funtion(but a social function)

-if you want to be the best robot, be the best human(make your skill better than the others IE,reaction, knowledge, timing)

-microphone vocal communication or text based robot speak

-near millions of different textures and models with extreme animations(you will always see something new)

Imagination gives birth to the creation of all things

There are certain things you just have to draw the line on when it comes to making MMO's, this would be one of them.

I can see myself playing a Transformers MMO if the whole game revolved around boobies and explosions.

If they make it a galactic game (ala Star Wars Galaxy), which different worlds in the middle of the war... maybe.

--> unique worlds, expansion packs

--> war between two factions and other worlds races in the middle as a neutral (non playable) faction.

--> recourses exploration (space, planets) for crafting

--> great crafting system! Upgrades, ships, maybe even player cities/stations

--> full pvp in some areas

.... omg this look like a clone of WAR, the bad version of SWG and WoW.... maybe its not such a good idea!

On Earth alone? (like the movies)... nah

Wel since developers even have a hard time getting the single player game climb up the ladder of succes, I doubt it could become a succesfull MMORPG.

Im with Reklaw on this one. How did the single player game fare? If it didnt go well, then I suspect investing millions and years into an MMO wil lbe rough indeed.
