I love the mid to end game, but the beginning makes me want to slam my head violently against my wall.  I like it more than any MMORPG that has come out since SWG at launch though..

yeah 20+ the game really opened up for me too, before that its pretty rough the second time through..lol

they really need to bring some of the abilities  down in lvls for when you get them.the worst part for me was lack of abilities specially on the ranger, trying to lvl with 2 bow attacks from 10-16 then the new attack you get at 16 is only a follow up to 1 of the starter attacks. 22 opens up alot but damn thats a long haul, the classes are ALOT of fun ONCE they get enough abilities to fill out a rotation. the biggest kicker for a ranger that is basicly a ranged fighter is that they keep getting those damn melee attacks but not only that but the damn things share the same cooldown as my  main bow attack.

I got a bit tired of all the running back and forth, so opted for grinding since I don't want to repeat the same steps during release.

It seems lacking in comparison to other mmo's I've played, but it is fun and I REALLY like the chain casting mechanics.

Nope it blows chunks just like auto assault did. I said auto assault would fail. It did. I say Aion will fail. The fail process has already began, look at the threads on here soon as beta acess was given to the people that pre-order. These are people that actually wasted their money because they LIKED the game prior to pre-ordering and playing it. Now look at the change in attitude towards the game. So again just like I said on the auto assault forum. TOLD YA SO.

HAHAHAHAHA

Damn man, you made me laugh so hard I spilled beer on my keyboard. That has to be one of the funniest things I've read in awhile. AoC is so bad that I wouldn't offer it up to my worst enemy.

Anyway, I firmly believe that AION will be a success here in the U.S. ... not WoW numbers ... but a solid second.

As for the Auto Assault guy ... You're not as funny as Sevensodd but nice try.

Kind of a moronic statement don't you think? I mean it already beat out Lineage II by terms of subscribers in Asia and it is brand new. I think we may be looking at another top tier MMORPG, next to WoW in line wouldn't be an understatement.

hm there must be unexplainable preference of game among races.

I would not say which one is better than which one.

I never followed this game and only checked it out from time too time when i herd people talking about it.  Would check out the websites and honestly thought it looked kind of dumb with the wings andnothing else really all that new.

With nothing else good out too play though i began looking at it more closely last week and decided i would pre-order it and give the beta a try.

You can defiantly see the asian influence in the game with the artwork and seeing 2 foot tall and  pretty boys characters running around everywhere is a bit annoying but the game play is good.  The combat is really smooth and the skill chains are a really nice addition, and ive also come too really like the flying it in.

My only real complaints so far are:

Leveling is way too linier.  There should be atleast 3-4 zones too pick from where u want too quest.   I think this is gonna hurt replayabiltiy alot.

Asian controls: No invert mouse? and no right mouse button too control camera?  Though i hear this will be changed for NA/EU release.

There is. Maybe simply u haven't found other zones. But u cant find other zones at the lv that could be archieved durig beta test.

Control is almost same as WOW I think

I like it.  I do agree it could use more variety in starter zones but the starter zone is insanely pretty.  The game does shine 20+ but it's way better than any other MMO released recently.  It also has insanely good music.

haha. this game does shine after lv30+ exactly. I am pretty sure of it. U gonna find a key that has soooo small drop rate to enter to dungeon called the temple of fire something and in which you can find awesome gold items (directly translated into english so name look like shit).

So the people who find this key earlier gonna be the king of that server. I am definitely sure of it. haha

I just started in the closed Beta this weekend, so I'll trust people that it is a different experience after level 20.  Pre-20, here are a few of the things I liked and a few I did not:

Liked:

  • The graphics.  No denying this is a beautifully created world.
  • The fact that, when you are on a merchant buy/sell screen there is a button to go back to the dialog screen.  A small thing, but a nice one.
  • The chain skills.  Other games I have played have skils that open up other skills, or combos, etc, but I liked the flow and options as well as the interface.  I did not have too may to play around with yet, so we'll see how it does as the skills get more complex.
  • The item and NPC descriptions available through links in the quest text.  Not only is it good for people who want to have pointers on the map, but it really helps refresh the memory when you pick up a quest, then log off and come back to it later.
  • Resting.  Some people may find it annoying, but I prefer when game mechanics reward resting to renew HP/MP.
  • Design of the mini-map radar.  I'm sure it will be annoying later when something sneaks up on me, but only "seeing" mobs in a cone in front of you seems right.
  • Buying skillbooks to learn new skills "on the road" as you level.

Disliked:

  • The tone of the quests was not what I expected.  They felt like just about every other MMO I have tried.  I guess I was hoping to really be thrown into things from the start a bit more, rather than collecting sap and killing bugs.  :)
  • The cutscenes.  Great idea, but some of them were more jarring than helpful, especially when they lasted only a few seconds.  Had a very GuildWars type feel to it, but not done near as well.
  • The chat system was limited (might have been because it was just the starting areas).

All in all, quite a bit to like.  I'm not sure that it is enough for me to hold onto the preorder and jump in from the start, but I am looking forward to seeing how things change after the magical level 20 barrier.

I LOVE this game. Ive heard people call it a "grindfest" and i disagre, when I compare it to all of the past MMO's ive played, i see one distinct difference with Aion -- Killing mobs isn't a chore, its actually a fun part of the game. Just my two cents.

Overall, I like the game.  There are a couple things that I definitely don't like though:

-  I hate how they handled water (no swimming, running on the bottom and taking damage for being next to or in deep water).

- I really hate how limited flight is in terms of duration and location.

Not amazed by the first 20 odd levels, but will reserve my judgement until the end-game.
