If you live in the UK and possibly other Euro countries you cannot subscribe to Champions Online with Maestro/ Switch/ Electron or Solo Debit Cards. Cryptic will only accept Visa/ Master Card or American Express Credit Cards.

This is worrying as most young people in the UK will have a debit card but not a credit card. Very limited payment options. Are time cards available?

Did you read the link you posted? He states at the end there will be game cards available!

Wow fail... seriously cutting out a huge chunk of players here. Also with GameCards they generally sell 60 day ones, not everyone wants to sub for 60 days at a time

then you should be able to just buy ncsoft game cards and use that.

Alot of mmorpgs don't support these which really pissed me off when I was younger, banks now are issuing Visa Debit Cards these days though.

Champions online/Crytic/Atari has no ties to NCSoft.

That's City of Heros/Villains.

No offense to UK people but I hear alot of complaints by players related to their credit cards and game companies not accepting them for MMO's because of overly insane policies on approval of credit charges.   I'm sure they'll offer more as they work out what ever deals they need with the credit unions in other countries but seriously if after the 30 free days you dont think you'll play another 60 what does it really matter that they only have a 60 day card?

how can you not have a visa card lol

..You know i have to wonder...how can the UK have Debit cards...I mean...and not be able to use them online?  Debit cards in the states 90% of the time have a Visa or a Mastercard stamp...if your Debit card has a stamp of a credit company on it it means it can be used as a credit card.

In Europe, banks actually check your ability to pay off your debt rather than handing out a credit card to any fool on the street.

All Debit cards in US are visa and mastercard as well. It makes thing simple.

My Mastercard has a debit function, as has my Visa. It is the same in Finland, it is hard to get a non Visa Amex or Mastercard debit card here.

What I was referring to is how easy it is to get an actual credit card in the states, believe me, I have lived there. Having been denied a Visa in Finland for not being 20, I had no problems acquiring a Visa in the states. Hell, there were multiple 'ushers' at the campus advertising various different credit cards for students, who usually do not have a substantial income.

But you can use them online. All online stores, Blizzard, Codemasters etc all take debit cards. It seems like Cryptic dont have a european distributor for billing.

Most people I know have now got Visa Debits. Either way, this isn't a life or death situation, if you cant use your card buy a game time card.
