I am starting this as a fishing exposition to try and piece together how much cashola Gary Whiting has really blown through.

Fact:   CME announces in early 2006 that it’s raised $55 million.
Fact:   Officers quoated saying $35M is into SGW
Fact:    Investor tours were a daily thing at CME. Imagine a few men that look like car salesmen,
            raising capital for CME.
Fact:    Investor tours continued into early 2009, then stopped because of the lack of employees.
Fact:    Nedra Rodney’s affiliation with MMOGULS puts $500k into CME
Fact:    Jeff Know Knowles contributes $250k to CME (promises $ 8M, but bolts)
Fact:    Numerous people throughout the Gilbert/Mesa area lend Gary money
Fact:    Numerous people I have bumped into throughout the Phoenix metropolitan area
mention buying into CME (during 2007).

So how much money did CME really raise? Just the Nedra, Jeff & loans is another Million + easy.

If you bought CME stock after March 2006, we want to hear from you!

Slightly unrealted:   If CME owns you money (you are a Vendor), we want to hear from you too!   It only takes 10 to force a bankruptcy!!

Gary has a phoney divorce with his wife set up, an illegal attempt to hide his assets before he is forced into bankruptcy. If he owed me money I'd either write it off as a loss (because Gary doesn't pay debts if he can get away with it), or I'd be getting him in court now before he has nothing left but toxic assets and his wife scarpers to Brasil with what's left.

Well, remember that the only thing you could go after GW for is anything like embezzlement and fraud. He is protected from any "normal" debt or loss of CME because of the corporations/LLCs. That's not so say he didn't do the former, just that the bar is probably a lot higher for someone to pierce the corporate shield.

And I'm not sure it's really in the benefit of any existing creditors to go for bankruptcy, if CME's assets won't cover taxes and back payroll, since creditors are behind them. However, it might make sense if an investor group wanted to do a full reboot of the franchise by forcing it, getting the assets for a song, then investing without the liabilities of existing creditors and others. Of course, that screws over everyone that CME owes money to now, but the likelihood that they would make good is pretty low anyways.

This is true but what it boils down to in it's most simple terms is, if you can't get a monetary return what else would suffice as payment? Revenge? To look at it from a Nietzschian perspective it equates to debtors in the middle ages paying their debts from their own flesh. It's not that flesh is worth anything financialy, but that the pleasure in inflicting agony upon that person that has stole from you does measure up as a form of payment. We all derive pleasure from making others suffer wether it be revenge or just plain sadism, or as a masochist you derive pleasure from it being inflicted upon yourself. As Nietzsche pointed out taking flesh from a debtors body was evidence that inflicting pain and misery upon someone for whatever reason is a form of commodity and has value due to the pleasure gained.

So my reasoning is, you'll never recieve any form of financial reimbursment from Whiting. So there is the other type, revenge. Take your repayment in the form of the pleasure you'll recieve from his misery and the hell you can make him go through. Hound that filthy son of a bitch until he loses the will to live, then torture him until you feel you've had your moneys worth.

Just a thought.

Some investors are smarter than others.  Rumor has it that some of the investors are willing to fund some more money but only if Gary can't touch it or make any decsions regarding it.  That may give the company another lease on life.

As to your question about how much is enough - the facts are distorted.  While each of the facts you state are true in isolation, they are not independent of one another - often the announced funding included some of the amounts from other announcements.

As a fact. - CME has raised about $50 million which has been used for the production of eight different games, Stargate Worlds being the largest and most expensive with about $25 million of the total.

The simple story is that company was trying to raise $100 million for six to 10 games.  They got about half done and the economy tanked and all the funding dried up.  All the other stuff about MMOGULs, Gary, Gary's wife, etc. is just good reading - it has little to do with the big picture of what is going on.

No, no, no no! A hundred times no. If the investments this company (under many names but one giant umbrella called Whiting) has garnered were ALL used to make a game like any other normal MMO investment on earth, we'd all be playing SGW right now instead of talking about this shit. Instead, we've got a man who lured people into a get rich quick scheme and a team at CME that has lied to us EVERY STEP OF THE WAY.

  1. Lie #1: The lie of omission about employees not getting paid. "Same financial hardships as everyone else." Bullshit! Not everyone else tries to create a stable of games at once for a get rich quick scheme.

  2. Lie #2: MMOGULS. "We censored the word and banned all the people who post about it. We have no contractual agreement." More bullshit. Their art team was making the logos for MMOGULS. Shane admits that much. The get rich quick scheme and SGW have been part of the master plan since Day 1. Peons can deny knowledge up to a certain point, but then it just becomes justifying lying to the public like that hapless developer who admitted as much on these forums right before Shane began posting here.

  3. Lie #3: Lawsuits. "The lights are still on and we're still doing work." Awesome way to avoid the question. The more time passes, the more we find out all of it is true.

  4. Lie #4: Second round of no pay. Tkksnow warns, "talking about it hurts our feelings and makes us cry." Fuck you, you lying baby! How hard is it to tell the truth?

This isn't about attacking you sgman7, but you people have got to wake up! From top to bottom, this WHOLE operation is shady. I have followed the saga for damn near a year since that pompous Lisentia came to the TTH forums where I lurk and called everyone there a liar with an agenda. CME didn't outright encourage it, but they sure supported the abuse of anyone who had an independent thought, anyone who dared to ask "is this true?" They made people like Blakey and Marmz out to be liars, but they were just asking questions. Just trying to get to the truth.

Tkksnow carefully worded comments to imply that TTH was a bunch of assholes when all they did was report the truth from whatever anonymous source(s) they had. I want no part of such immoral filth, and I don't want people like you trying to gloss over the shit this company has pulled and try to separate any part of it from the whole.

I want a SG game, too, but I am not willing to let liars and potential scam artists profit from my love for a franchise. I am sick of the smokescreens and blind fanaticism. So long as there is any forum that will let us tell the truth, I will be there to tell people what happened with this game--how the money was squandered on a scheme, how the PR people and CM lied to us, and how the truth was censored on the official forums.

I will never rest so long as there is a chance that SGW might launch and profit Gary Whiting because Gary Whiting IS SGW.

I'm gonna have to agree with Pugla 101% and say what you've posted is just a load of "who shot John". Firstly you imply the economy going bad has anything to do with CME/Firesky/Cash sink studios running out of cash, it doesn't. If Gary had spent the money wisely on one game with one graphics engine and a sensible size team SGW might have been out by now or still in development. He had that $50 mil and no debts, wether the economy goes good or bad he still has that cash. Funding didn't "dry up" as you put it, he spent it all on stupid schemes, too many staff and apps that weren't needed and probably embezzeled a fair amount for himself which he's hiding through a phoney divorce. He just couldn't sucker in anyone else as people were alot more wary of what they invested in now. The economy didn't tank, CME/Firesky/Cash sink studios tanked and it would've happened irrespective of the economical situation, FACT!

These statements seem to contradict eachother,

"As to your question about how much is enough - the facts are distorted. While each of the facts you state are true in isolation, they are not independent of one another "

and

" All the other stuff about MMOGULs, Gary, Gary's wife, etc. is just good reading - it has little to do with the big picture of what is going on."

Seems to me you're picking and choosing what is linked to this scandal by saying "Your facts are distorted as they're all interlinked except the stuff about pyramid schemes, Whiting's shady practices and his phoney divorce". What are you Gary Whitings publicist? Lawyer? Or just some FanOri coming over to give a load of bologne by making a who shot John post to try and mask the fact that Gary Whiting is a con man?

Whiting wanted $100 mil to make 10 games and a pyramid scheme, and it all went tits up because of the economy? I'm telling you the economy wasn't a factor at all, the biggest factor was the greedy, self absorbed meglomaniac in control of the whole sham. Like a selfish greedy child he wanted more and more and more until finally there was nothing left and his parents had no more money. His dreams of his mega millions empire began to collapse before his eyes so he lashed together his MMOGULs crap ahead of schedule. However his "Get Gary Whiting rich or go shit broke tryin' scheme" can't pay his workers wages so instead he has embezzeled money from it.

Whiting is a low down bottom feeding maggot that needs to be exsponged from the MMORPG industry and human society in general. If you feel so bad for him that you want to write a bologne post in his defence I suggest you send him your next paycheque instead! He'll appreciate that even more, BTW can you admit to getting a paycheque now Khestral?
