Do you think CCP will ever update planet graphics to something a little more like this?

In the game lore, when you warp you are basically in a trans-dimension field, which removes you from physical space and therefore ypu "pass through" planets. Where the graphic artists of EvE screwed up was making the "warp tunnel" transparent, instead of opaque ( such as scenes of warping in Star Trek ) so you wouldn't see the ship passing through the planet. |

Redone planet graphics were supposed to be released with Apoc. Along with the Effects and jump gate revamps but they pushed them back. You will probably see them in the next couple expansions added little by little. Playing: EvE, Ryzom |

I hope that they one day do change the planet and moon graphics. One step at a time :) Played : WOW, LOTRO, COH/COV, EQ2, SWG, and WAR. |

I admit that I am a graphics whore and have the latest and greatest computer system, but Eve is such an interesting game to me that I have overlooked the dated graphics and focus more on gameplay. That being said I would love to have some graphics updates and maybe someday more advanced space stations where you can actually land and have your avatar interact with other peoples avatars. |

Even the new space games like JGE and BP don't look as good. I'm glad you like the game i'm just shocked that you think it's dated at all. I think everyone is waiting for the walking in stations thing but it wont be for a while yet since CCP got their heads on straight and decided to fix shit that actually matters (FW,sov and Apoc bugs).

It is a beautiful game overall but I always ache for more. :) I really think it could use some AA but I didn't see a setting for it so I may force it on in the control panel. This game has so much to explore and is so complex that I feel like it will always have something new to experience or learn. Then on top of that there is so much future potential with all the planets and moons. This was one well thought out game that is worth trying even though it takes some work to understand everything. Certainly not like the simple click this, click that, mass marketed MMOs where you can almost shut your brain off while leveling. |

I would love to see actual planets with moons and such. mayeb there are, but all I have seen so far is non descript planets, with little to no features, and no orbiting bodies except for stations. also, I would love some updated textures and some hdr, bloom and AA. |

I ask this because it doesn't look like it would be to hard to do this. I mean, really, all they need to do is just take stock textures and re-skin the planets they currently have. Textures can easily be made. Look at this image.
The image above was made in the game editor of M&B using a simple sand texture I made myself. It is nearly seamless and looks good compared to most tiled textures you'll find in games such as WoW or any MMORPG - if I may say so myself. ^_^ If I, a non-professional, can create a simple texture that looks this good(took maybe all of an hour to do) why can the professionals working on premium games not do the same? Seriously...how hard can it be? ![]() |

Eve has bloom, HDR and advance shadows already. AA can be forced with your graphics card control panel and it looks great. I don;t know what CCP is going to do with the planets but if they do let us land on them it might be Rts simcity hybrid type of gameplay. I don;t see CCP giving use entire worlds to live on like SWG or anything. I do agree this game has massive potential.

Well CCP is already working on more interaction with the planets, here's a video from Fanfest 2006 (i think) which is showing a spaceship entering the atmosphere of a planet :) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8Pg1dzAvL2M the Walking in Stations would be the perfect start to allow players to go on planets imo, a nice way to test the basics in a limited area. |

The backgrounds and Planets need updating cause they look really dated and the game feels 2D. |

hah ok! well guess that shows that some things take a "little" bit longer to finish :) In the end EVE is not the only one, WoW for example talked about housing and the Emerald Dream areas since US closed beta... 5 years later and they still aren't included :) |

TBH I spend so little time close enough to planets to see any detail that I really don't notice them at all. Sure it'd be nice if they got updated with new graphics but I can think of a whole host of other things I'd like to see fixed/implemented/improved before that :) |

I also do not pay attention to planet graphics, but is it that bad? EDIT: |

From what I have heard, old news i think, they are planning on completely revamping the entire game/graphic engine. Instead of creating a sequel, CCP seems more inclined at upgrading the current game to todays standards. I agree with this strategy over creating sequels, always have and always will. |

I would say "Why bother?" I never really interested to look at those planets soon after I've completed the tutorial. |
