Before any states "Why play MMOs if all you want to do is solo!!" I'm asking because there are times when you just want to quest and if you need to get a group to do the simplest task it will be a pain in the @ss so I'm just checking whether you can do most quests without the need for a group or whether you're as powerful as a baby goat...

I have been Playing a Cleric on the beta and i have seen that in this game cleric are not only good at healing but also good at dps so yes clerics can solo.

Yes they aren't your typical healing class. From what I have seen playing my cleric you shouldn't have a problem taking on multiple mobs.

Clerics in this game may bring back all of the long lost healers you never find in most MMORPG games.

You get to have a Staff or a Mace/Shield. You also have chain Armor in this game for clerics that is what i like about this game it bring back the way clerics were in DND Shields and Chain armor.

You might not kill very quick but I'm sure that is expected.

Actually, in wacraft, paladins, wich are the most similar thing to a cleric, also used heavy armor and shields with maces, so its kinda always been here....   just to straight things up =P

To what level have you played a Cleric?

You may be taking on 'mulitple' mobs that are 3 or 4 levels below you, but once you get to 20 or so, you won't be taking on more than 2 of equal level - and that will be a decent challenge.

This game isn't easy mode in PvE like Warhammer, for eg.

I play a templar, but I have watched quite a few clerics play at a variety of levels.  From what I have seen, it is quite possible to solo as a cleric, but you aren't a soloing powerhouse.  Chain armor doesn't provide all that much protection and you don't have a great many abilities to keep the monster away or burn it down before it gets to you - I think Clerics will do better against certain types of mobs solo and have a tough time with others.

in the very beginning, i remember dueling against clerics. they'd win every time. no matter who they were fighting. but im talking about level 10's.. not so sure about later on..

Yeah clerics can outlast a lot of people, especially at low levels when you deal with smaller hitpoint pools. Although by that logic I'm sure chanters can rock some clerics.

All classes solo well in Aion. Clerics can take more of a beating as they can self heal but the dps is slower than say a sorcerer. I've found everything quite playable and balanced from my experiences.

Clerics can solo pretty well.  Although, not as well as some of the DPS classes, especially after level 30.  You will kill slower and have more downtime, unless you buy a lot of mana potions at that point.  It's still possible though.  Edit: This was my experience with the class on the Chinese server version 1.0.  I know there's a lot of changes since then, according to the post below mine it's easier for the Clerics to solo now.

Just so you know when you are in a group as a Cleric in most situations you will be expected to do nothing but healing.  Especially in PvP encounters.

Edit:  When I say you will be expected to only heal, what I mean is that if you are in a group situation that requires a Cleric if you start throwing in DPS spells here and there you will run out of mana before the encounter is over and people will die.

Bioware did not make Knights of the old Republic 2.

I am level 35 now, and I have no down time at all, if you know what kind of tools to use and what spells to use :D

Never down time for me even in instances and group

Same thing applied to all classes. when I first played Assissan and Templar, I was like WTF, I had to carry load of pots, not until I figured our the skills and position then I cut down the rest time a lot.

That's how I play in groups, I have a healing class so I figure I'm expected to heal... the people who don't irritate me anyway :)

That's good to hear, I've only played past 30 in 1.0 and I know they've made a lot of changes to the classes in the patches currently being used in the NA beta.

Going to edit my post above a little to reflect what you said.

Got a cleric in the CBT and been able to solo to 30 so far and probbly past that if i wanted to.   When soloing you will have to heal yourself some but you can outlast most mobs i can even solo 1 elite at a time in Black claw village and that was at 21. (thats 40k xp per kill at 21) takes a few minutes but hey it works :)    Also at 21 you can go to Morh and solo inside the city until you hit 22-24 then start the campaign quest.

When you are in a group however as stated ealier you will be healing not dpsing especially vs elites or in PVP.

1.2 is great. I love it.  It gives so many more quests and best of all, you will get RESTED XP (not sure about lower lvl but I got it at 30s)

Also, they added a blue gears quests for level 30, that's a big plus.  Cut down lot of gold farmers spam too.  Overall 1.2 is a big impromvement for Chinese Aion.

Very interesting op, and great replys. I'm interested in how much clerics at higher levels have to deal with mana pools. Do that have to excruciatingly watch their mana bar? Are there sufficient potions etc to negate problems/ Do they have the dreaded OOM problems much?
