byebye WoW.
not as significant, but interesting to note: mmorpg hits for top 10 games for this week: #1: Aion = 111k hits #2: WoW = 38k hits
this month: #1: Aion = 327k hits #2: WoW = 149k hits
discuss.

I wouldn't say byebye WoW. Anyway, WHAT? A company that gives out their profit numbers instead of giving us shady registered account numbers? IMPOSSIBLE! |

Blizzard hav nt given us sub numbers since december 2008 its actually quite good fortune PR wise that the Chine situation happened but in all proberbility the loses Blizzard are now seeing goes beyond that . I would nt say bye bye WoW either but the days when WoW could boast 11 + million players are over . I think theres a good chance Aion may overtake it one day but if that happens i hope ncsoft dont start getting greedy and going of a a drive for the kids subs at the expence of older players . |

Also keep in mind ncsoft faced a lawsuit in may too. Not bad.

Aion is a good game, but not ONE game will kill WoW... Going to be a bit from Aion, then the new FF, and the new StarWars, then the nail will be the NEW MMO from Blizzard heh :)
Hell by that time we will have Starcraft 2 and Diablo 3. All good fun as long as battle.net is still free with 2.0. - ya I'm here |

http://financial.lfie.net/blizzard-in-the-first-quarter-net-profit-of-189-million-us-dollars/ I'd say WoW wont feel a thing. And...why would you go to MMORPG.com if you are already playing a game you like, Aion=flash in the pan. |

And the hits on this website dont say anything, tons of people click on it without ever playing the game. if you look at the last year you see WAR there with almost 3 million and look how they went.
NCSoft howerver is looking to grab a big piece of the market in the long run though GW2 in production Blade and soul in production lineage 3 in production Signed agreement with PS3 to do MMO's |

Huh? All corporations give out quarterly earnings statements. It's part of their SEC filings. They only shout it from the rooftops when it's good news though. Also didn't NCsoft lose money first quarter? Haven't got time to look at the moment. "Any sufficiently advanced incompetence is indistinguishable from malice." ~Greys Law |

Not to knock Aion, but more to bring you back to reality Bye bye WoW? God you are far far far from reality Nothing on the market or coming on to the market in the near future is going to impact WoW by more than single digit percentage point. The only danger to WoW is blizzard itself by pulling the equivalent of a SWG combat revamp and even then it's player base would be in the millions still. MMO's die very slowly, just look at Ultima Online for proof of this Someone seriously saying "WoW killer" or anything similar in any MMO discussion (unless they are saying it will "not be a wow killer") is probably the best indicator that they have not got a clue about what they are talking about As to NCsoft profit jump, you will find most gaming companies profits have jumped over the last 6 months to year, it has already been well noted that during this recession that gaming companies have done very well due to people looking for "cheaper entertainment" As to the search stat's, what do you expect people to be reseaching more? Game out for aprox 5 years or game in final stages of beta and "coming out" in about 5 weeks?
I need a new MMO world to call home as Tom Chilton keeps destroying them |
