http://blog.norml.org/2009/08/12/georgia-lawmaker-calls-for-caning-executing-marijuana-offenders/

If republican senators keep this crap up then you can kiss the republican party bye bye.

I'm a hardcore republican but this right here made me so sick at my stomach that it makes me ashamed to support the republican party.

This man needs to be removed from his seat immediatly.

NOTE: And if anyone doesn't know what caning is, it's 24 lash to the back with a rattan cane whip soaked in water. And that's just for having a small amount of pot on you. And as for the dealers? Death.

Good ole Newt proposed the same back in the 90's.  Most everyone kinda laughed and took it as a joke.........   I guess Newt and a few others didnt get it.

Justification is an event. Sanctification is a process.

It won't pass though thankfully. Not in todays society.

Also to top all of that off: The vast majority of minor marijuana offfenders are teenagersTEENAGERS

It's been proven in statistics many decades now that teenagers make up a majority of marijuana consumers. This won't sit well with parents daugther julie sue getting her back ripped to shreds with a rattan cane. Very traumatizing.

It's disgusting and demented that we have leaders that think this way.

If it is true, then that guy needs to be booted out.

However, I will wait for a real news outlet to report it, not a blog from NORML.

"You don’t want to legalize weed because of your conservative values. Pardon my French but that is a big old pile of bull crap.

You and your cronies want it legalized so you can get a hit anytime without having to worry about getting arrested.

I have forwarded your email to the Lowndes County sheriffs office so that they can be on the lookout for you. Consider this my last correspondence on the the subject to you or anyone else who shares your similar “conservative views’.

Both parties seem to have been taken over by the lunatics, which probably explains why there are now more independent registered voters than those for either party.

I've known Tommy Benton for quite some time. This is his position and, around here, he's cheered for it. He certainly won't be booted from office.

Around here, the small town police forces are so corrupt that marijuana law reform advocates don't dare speak out locally. I've had my person and vehicles searched countless time without a warrant. I've been taken to the station for interrogation 4 times without being arrested. I've had my upholstery ripped apart as plain clothes police searched my vehicle for over 2 hours, finding nothing. I have NEVER been charged with an illegal possession crime.

 So weird seeing these threads.
Ever since I was little marijuana especially in BC is pretty norm.

I don't smoke personally, but I've been with friends many times where the officer will ask them, if they have any pot... so they hand it over, the cop cracks a joke we all laugh, he tells us to keep safe and its over.

There are the odd extreemeist parents in the area that go all batshit crazy with the 70's propaganda, but for the most part Its almost surreal reading about this crusades some of you deal with :P

after 6 or so years, I had to change it a little...

Marijuana prohibition will end soon, or at least get a whole lot less strict.  I believe this because it is one of the few things my conservative friends and myself can agree on.

Oh it will. Atleast in my lifetime.

The people and alot of higher ups are seeing that the benefits far outweigh the downsides. People aren't dumb today like they were back in the 30's and 40's where Reefer Madness reigned supreme. Noone buys it anymore.

It really is kind of weird that it is illegal.

Given that alcohol pretty much makes you a blubbering retard (See>Drunk).

That's always the standpoint of Anti's, they refer to "super high" type people.

I like to point them to case: B

The blubbering retarded drunk pissing in my yard. (Seen it!)

Then fall back to case:A

The really high guy trying to grab his hand with his foot. (Seen it!)

Then we point over to "Take a look at the deaths caused by booze".

Then we point over to  "Take a look at the deaths caused by weed".

I personally believe case B is far worse. Case B is proven deadly in the fashion we as humans consume it (like pigs).

Lets face it, when it comes down to it. There are more stupid drunks than reasonably social drinkers.

Indeed, I personally do not drink. I don't like alcohol. I don't think it's wrong, humans enjoy getting messed up.

I do however enjoy an occasional joint, it's part of the culture I found myself in. I have never gotten "so high , man!". I akin it to a slight buzz over a drink.

I have a small little plant, she produces what I need for over months, I've cloned her ,and cloned her, and cloned her.

I am not out in the ghetto seeking fixes, like they make "pot heads" out to be. I sustain my habit at zero cost to myself.

I also suffer from crazy painful ulsers. There is no pain medication I can take that keeps the pain away. My fix is a small little plant I found long ago growing in the wild. I've had her DNA for ages. I have never had more than one plant in my entire time.

Can you drinkers say that about alcohol? That's my platform. If your drug is legal and causes such damage, can you actually stand there and tell me/us our's is bad? Lets outlaw alcohol again and see how batshit you people go.

I can promise without a shadow of a doubt you people (the drinkers) would be equally as passionate about your recreational drug as I am about my pain minimizer.
