I ve been playing AoC for three months now simply because i got it cheaply on ebay with a couple of time cards as a stop gap untill Aion is released . I play on Fury european server . Unless i ve been very unlucky i ve found the three guilds i ve tried to be large but impersonal and in general unhelpful . I m not talking about boosting but just general advice is pretty rare to be forthcoming . There also seams to be a lot of players with a terrible attitude in the game even more so than in WoW and that really is saying something . I think part of the problem is the way the pvp has been implimented . Rather than factions or even race playing a part the game is a free for all . Which leads to players having to group into large guilds . Its proberbly different on a pve server but i quite enjoy pvp and i would imagine Conans quite boring without it . I just wish it had been implimented in a such way that encouraged a community feel rather than attract the type of person that wants a gank-a-thon . |

I quite like doing pvp and i dont mind being ganked i just feel the way conans pvp is set up really does nt lend to a community . Even WoW which i hate and detest now has a more of a community feel because of the factions . I get the feeling although AoC is ment to be 18 + theres an awful lot of player than are a lot lot younger than that . The gameplay is fine though in general and theres a lot to recomend . |

I can give you a perspective on life on a pve server. I play on a pve server now with some rl friends. Most peeps on a pve server will sign up for mini games so minis occur pretty regularly but not on off hours. Sieges occur quite a bit as well. Guilds on PvE servers tend to focused around activities (sieging / pvp / raiding). A good guild makes playing alot more fun. There are more players just out there roaming around and rping on a PvE server. The game is alot more relaxed on a pve server. The constant wariness of the pvp server is not there thou. |

Originally posted by arthen999 This is interesting. This is not the first time I have read this about that particular server either..I hope you do not take that as indicative of the overall population. On my server, I have a great community of helpful players. I am in several guilds (as I use one for Casual and one for Raiding), and really do not run into this. Of course, I like to turn global off, and if I have questions, ask for a PST (and talk in the Zone channel, like Cimmeria, etc..) Good luck and hope this gets rectified for you. |

Originally posted by Academus First hand data is considerably more helpful. Instead of making judgements based on others feedback, why not try the game yourself. A simple 10 bucks gets you in and playing, then you can write your thesis from the point of view of someone who has knowledge of the game and not some one who looks suspiciously "badboybilly" Thanks |

I agree, AoCs PvP server have a really bad community. Funny enough are the PvE servers populated by normal people, try roll a character on one of them and you will see the difference. It is actually rather odd, After a few months I made a PvP char but I just couldn't stand so many morons and went back to PvE instead. |

How did I know that this topic would be about either Tyrranny (us) or Fury (eu) server before I even read the content? Because posts like theese allways are about experiences at the two most notorious hard core ffa pvp servers generalised to the AoC community as a whole... The other servers are nothing like those beforementioned ones. |

The difference in communities is pretty amazing. Each server has a remarkablely different community. Tyranny has alot of trash talking along with some extremely good pvpers. Wicanna is laid back and friendly with tons of guild activities (sieges and raids). Set is the hard core raiding server. Cimmeria has nearly every type. |

It's always PvP servers. Always. LOL. I've yet to see one of these genuine threads blasting a PVE server.
At this point, I'm thinking FC should jsut put a disclaimer on the PVP servers that reads "Mature is only relastive to content. Thick skin is needed for this server" and be done w/ it. |

I generally agree with the OP, and I'll go one step further in adding the community was one the major reasons why I ended my subscription. I played on the Set server (PvE for everyone who does not play Conan) and global got so bad that I actually hated tuning in to that channel when I tried to join\start groups. And it usually took only a single chucklehead to say something poor that started a 2 hour parade of juvenille\offensive comments. Granted, everyone has a different level\opinion on what is considered a 'bad' community (and I may be a bit an 'old foggie' in this regard), but when there is swearing, racist remarks, personal insults and greifing, and talk of drug use without ANY sort of moderation WHATSOEVER, I just eventually got so sick of paying attention to global and it hurt my ability to get into groups. Yes - this was a personal choice to tune global chat out and its something I'll live with and stand by - but the fact remains that it hurt my enjoyability of the game. One way to help alleviate this problem is to separate out global chat into separate channels for grouping, trade, and OOC (probably a few others too). But alas, there is none of this. Anywhoo, from a person that played for about 10 months on Set, the horrible community that takes place in the global chat every day was a factor in me giving up Conan. Was it the only factor? No, but it was definitely a black mark that helped me make the decision to quit. I'm not creative enough to have a signature |

Well i don't think you will ever hear that about PVE servers on the NA side..for the simple fact.......
THE PVE SERVERS ARE FREAKIN EMPTY !!! So the choices are: Deal with a community of 13 yr old kids who are bullied so bad at their school they try to take out revenge vicariously in AoC.
OR
Deal with a Ghost town, and basically spend 3 hours (to find people) to do an instance that will probably crash or bug out for armour that is useless and will end up rotting.
Fun game. |

Speaking from someone who doesn't even play the game! How do you know? You don't! I don't have any problems finding groups amd the towns are not ghost towns. Biggest bunch of bull coming from someone that doesn't even play. .. .... .- - . - .-. --- .-.. .-.. ... .-- .... --- .-. . .--. --- .-. - .-.-.- Playing: AoC, LOTRO, |

Fun game. Hmmm...interesting. One guild I am in has a head count of 1400, with an 78% active rate. I also raid almost every Mon, Wed, Fri when time permits in my 200+ player ACTIVE guild, and belong to two casual guilds. (3 Alts, 1 main) But, you must have proof to share of YOUR empty server announcement, so please share that hard core data with us. Otherwise, please move on and whine somewhere else. |

Well, you're half right. The game is poor too! Seriously the community issue impacted my play in a large way. I'm not much of a PvP'er but I always like to play in a PvP environment cause its fun. The added "danger", potential sudden ganking, and of course the thrill of successfully escaping a gank, or even rarer for me, killing a ganker is just too much fun. However in AoC the lack of any meaningful death penalty combined with the nonstop rampant griefing (ganking and griefing are 2 different things) made what should have been fun into something annoying and pointless. I moved to a PvE server and the community was obviously much better without the griefers but the gameplay itself wasn't as satisfying as it should have been cause there was no "danger." |

Fun game. Good song by tool. GO TOOL! (AoC fails hard due to lack of community, that and the lack of promises.)
Wheres the gold? |

BULLSHIT What PVE server is this? How many of those 1400 (lol) players are Alts? Since everybody knows that everyone has 7 alts. But not in this guild? Lets see a screen shot of the guild list with 78% of the list lit up Surely you aren't talking about a NA server

QFT! Not only does he not play the game, but I highly doubt that a personality like him ever played on a pve server. The pve servers are fine. Wiccana has had multiple sieges going at the same time recently. Not to mention all the guilds heading to raids at the same time. If anything, pve servers are doing much better than the pvp ones. |
