This question pertains to those who have played Dark Ages of Camelot (DAoC).  I've heard much hype of Aion and it's PvP/RvR system and want to know if it compares to DAoC.  If you played DAoC you know as well as I do that the RvR system has not been beaten by any game as of late.  The complexity of Mythic's RvR system in Dark Ages of Camelot was shown through the use of the Tower and Keep system, battles including three different realms (Midgard, Hibernia, and Albian) clashing for the ownership of foreign or domestic strongholds to caputre relics yeilding power to give it's owning realm a step up in battle.  Attacks on keeps and towers in which all three realms were present each bringing their own 200+ force to colide in a zerg of death.

Will Aoin bring intense battles as DAoC did?  Battles that lasted 3-4 hours?  Will it bring massive amounts of players to an area in giant battles?

They are going for that in the concept.  When you controll a fortress you gain benefits for it.  Also  The whole goal if you look at the map for the abyss is to controll the middle part of it.   The abyss is the end zone you are encouraged to go there post 25 and it is where all the main PVE/PVP will take place as the best PVE content is in the abyss and so is the only open non rift PVP area.    So with the playerbase of both races pushed to this zone at one time or another i would imagine some epic sized battles to happen.

You sound to me like an Alb! Midgard ftw! =))

In my short experience of Aion (played 1 CB event) we had some big battles, like zerg vs zerg ^^ It was quite fun. But endgame wise I suggest you browse the forums at Aion Source, there is some level 50s that post there.

Lookup kilkil2's post here and read through it.  It sounds like there are often 3+ hour skirmishes over fortresses where the PvE faction jumps in, and then there are world raid bosses where both sides fight each other and the boss and can go on for most of a day.

It sounds pretty intense really.

In my opinion.  No.

The beauty of DAoC's RvR was the 3 factions.  Aion comes close, but does not quite capture that same spirit or realm pride that DAoC had.

If Aion had a 3rd player controlled faction then I would dare say the RvR would surpass DAoC.  If only.

It's still an excellent and very entertaining game.  And the RvR is very fun.  But, to me, DAoC (the original) was still a little more exciting.

Bioware did not make Knights of the old Republic 2.

Just be aware you can PVE or PVP your abyss points and that you can lose abyss points when you die in PVP. The higher rank you are the more you lose. You also use abyss points to purchase gear.

That's a big difference than DAOC.

But yeah it sounds like there maybe some very large fights and it sounds like there maybe some ways to bust zergs.

If that's good or bad is up to you.

Yeah, it's kinda like the BP system in DAoC except you can lose them.
