Your post fails

I have to echo the other truth-lovers in here and say that the game isn't over-hyped. I feel like this comes only from people who haven't had very much experience in the game and haven't done any research for themselves.

Ignorance isn't that hard to come by nowadays but its nice to see so many people realizing the solid game that we have coming our way. I look forward to playing with such a solid player base and community in a solid game. See you all there! (and in CBT6)

I would say its UNDER hyped... but I was a total fanboy of AOC until i hit cap level. Nevertheless, it will be fun to play through.

I have not seen any exaggerated or over the top claims.

As far as the game play goes I have not seen anything that is a lie. Aion does what it says it does. If people don't like it then fine. but not liking something has nothing to do with being overhyped. That's called personal taste.

 

Exactly Sov, I honestly don't think people understand the definition of words like 'hyped' before they use them.

My guild hadnt even heard of Aion a month ago until i posted on our forums asking who was going to play. Since then we have started to trickle into the betas and i now have 20 people interested who were spread around various mmo's waiting for something to come along.

Aion doesnt even come close to the hype AoC and WAR generated.

 Yes, it's the worst. Your review was so filling that I wouldn't look for another. I thought the graphics were pretty awesome, but my eyes decieve me sometimes. I mean, YOU have like...this awesome knowlege of the game. I definitely don't want to listen to proffessional reviews or anything. They are dumb. They are saying this game is awesome, and I know they're wrong seeing as your view disagrees. Thanks for the info! :) I'm glad they allow you to post in these forums. Yeah, it is more fun not killing at all and running around gathering mushrooms for 10 levels...@@

Oh and because not a single mmo has gotten better after lvl 10...? Common man you don't even have all your skills yet haha.

If you're not having fun at the start... that's fine... but to dismiss it already is a mistake.

I loved 1-20 in AOC, loved the early levels or WAR, enjoyed leveling 1-10 in WOW and loved EVERY level of DAOC.

So its bull about the first 10 levels not counting or mattering. That is where you hook players. If the player isn't hooked immediately, they are not going to stay for 10 more levels much less 40 more. Its the truth. Now granted, Aion either appeals to players in the first 10 levels or it repulses them. And going by the number of posts both ways, Aion is for a lot of players and not for a lot of players.

I made my decision not to play by level 12 or so and I am not going to play. I hated the first 12 levels the first time and there was no way I was going to do it again and again (considering it would be the same thing for every alt). I was not having fun, found the game boring and honestly, I could care less what happens at level 20 or 25. Aion failed to hook me and make me want to play....and obviously others feel the same way.

If you hate the first 30 minutes of a movie you will walk out? that tells me everything i need to know about you and your opinions.

I played WoW, sorry thought it was the terrible, in pretty much all aspects but thats just my opinion right......  Anyway i've been playing the Aion beta, and i must say its a pretty polished game, in most cases considering it's not out yet.

Its as simple as this if you dont like the game then DONT play it,  i dont like WoW so i dont play but i also dont go on any boards and whine about it. 

I think all games get overhyped to some degree prior to being released. Aion is no different from any other pre-released game for hype.

It is fun to play though. Can't be compared to WoW as I feel its a different game. I do like the graphics, the pvp, and the ability to fly. Quests are well done, interesting and fun.

I don't even plan to play this game but the OP's statement is just ridiculous. Have you ever heard of Dark and Light? Or maybe Vanguard or even maybe AoC? lol just too funny.

I voted AoC, because I couldnt choose 2, and frankly VG and D&L wernt hyped at all. Neither was even heard of outside a small sub community of hardcore gamers on the internet. AoC and WAR took a more aggressive marketing apporach, but even they were amatuers.

Player buzz on forums isnt a game being 'hyped up', and VG and D&L both recieved minimal exposure beyond that. Look at Hollywood for what 'hype' really means, especially crap but well publicised POS offerings like GI Joe.

I have only ever walked out of 2 movies in my life and I usually see 20 or so a year. Just FYI....

But the point being made, if you feel that strongly about something early on, you can formulate a valid opinion about it.

I used to get emails and newsletters about Dark & Light all the damned time.

Because for me what NCSoft said that would be there is there.

Knew about the rifts, knew about pvp servers, knew about able to be attacked whilst leveling, limited flighttime and places etc.

The only thing that I can think that would be remotely misleading is that it was said that a player could focus on either pvp or pve. now, this is true on the surface but one must take steps to avoid pvp if a person doesn't want it. If a person doesn't want to pve that is also impossible as one can't level through pvp.

Other than that unclear statement I have not seen anything that was misleading.

lol, i dont want to elaborate on everything else. except that.... the game graphics is amazing, the screenshots dont do it justice. 

I thought avoiding pve or pvp and still seeing end game was based on the 1.5 patch not current release hehe.

Well, I can't speak to that. People can still come through a rift and attack you. However, besides the warning, if they are there too long they will get a debuff and have their exact location announced.

There is an area for higher levels that will have no rift. Might already be in the game.

I personally think it's a non-factor. The game is NOT like Lineage 2 in that you aren't going to be looking over your shoulder every second. You just have to be slightly aware.

The hype has mostly come from the rabid Aion fankids that are screaming about how new, exciting, and revolutionary this game is and how it trumps all other games and has the best graphics EVAR and...

yeah. They've taken a fairly average (but solid, I'll admit that) game and tried to make it a godsend, and woe to those who don't agree.

Don't feel bad. I knew within the first few hours I wasn't going to like the game either. There'll be others coming out that might hold your interest a little better.

"Worst over hyped game ever", hmm I thought this was a thread about Warhammer the dead in water no endgame saga or Warcraft the bargain bin reason for more neglected children in trailer parks then ever. But No your talking about a game that hasnt even gone "gold" yet.

Hahah no release version, yet I guess speculation is the game you play. I for one have played everything out of the gates since Ultima was fighting the shelves with Zork and Wizard and the Princess. IMO AION has no real competition till KotoR comes out. A engine that is this good looking and runs this well at this point in closed beta with the population it is sporting; I have to say you sir or madam do not know what you are talking about.

Lets just add to that  a fact that a lot of people are unhappy that it is a NCSOFT title. Means no warbuddy bot griefer types gonna be able to RHUIN your day. Ah yes a fun  beautiful creation with a ton of  forsight made by developers that actually know what is important in game play both visually, mechanically and have envisioned an endgame that wont put us to sleep.

What game isn't overhyped?????... playing the beta so far has been a very enjoyable experience ... takes a lot to get me interested in an MMO because of the fact that grinding does get boring however AION does a good job of combatting that with tons of quests.

Working at a video game retail store after talking to many Veteran WoW players a lot of them are quitting due to the fact that WoW is becoming far too commercailized which isn't necessarily a bad thing but they do complain that its becoming too easy so then I introduce them to AION and they get intrigued and next time I see them they pre order and give it a shot.

No game nowadays goes without being overhyped ..... Age of Conan overhyped .... Warhamer Online overhyped and I heard everytime "WoW killer" but no game actually could live up to it.  

So you don't like it compared to WoW so be it don't play but some of us do get enjoyment out of AION so lets hope for "WoW Killer" til then I'll keep hyping AION :P

Misleading - Flying , flying is a gimick in this they say its built around it well if its built around why can you only fly in a invisable dome around the towns in each zone , no where else, Untill the abyss , But even then its not unlimited. So yes they have been misleading when they release video's promoting the game going on about the game and being able to fly its completely misleading because its nothing like they make it out to be.
