WoW killer?? In short: nooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo.... Seriously, the only thing that will kill WoW is if Blizzard close down the servers, the next Blizzard mmo or time amd I'm not too sure about the last one seeing as Ultima Online still being played. Hell, even The Realm Online got players, the oldest mmo I know of that's still active. Released in 1996. When you think about it it's not that old. Despite what delirious fanboys of whatever mmo in the making say, they are peanuts compared to WoW. WoW is the king of the hill. If you haven't gotten used to it by now, you never will. Good luck living in lala-land then. |

Every time someone types WOW-Killer on a keyboard, this should activate a large shock mechenism, and after the person has regained the use of their hands again, and/or bladder control enough time should of past for them to reconsider the cliched and pointless route they are following.....WOW is WOW, its simple to get into, and will run just about on a mobile phone now, it is almost a training ground for MMORPGS and is huge because its simple and its popular bacause its simple, its simple and therefore runs on anything...So to be a WOW killer by any bench mark, I would need to make a MMORPG that looks great but runs on my toaster. Not only that. I would have to design said game to be simplistic from the ground up and presume no-one has ever played a mmorpg, that isnt really going to fly now is it 10 years on, WOW came out at the right time to engage an emerging market, and made fantastic inroads into Asia in the early days, those facts only make a WOW-killer unlikely, successfull games will follow yes,but I would be suprised to see anything like WOW...And to be fair I got into MMORPG,s before WOW, so I found it it insulting to my senses but I see how it came to be a giant and doff my cap in its general direction, however I am swearing under my breath. And lastly as already stated this will be a superhero game, appeal will be different even though an Avatar or a Superhero is the same damn thing at the end of the day. Currently Subbed to Fallen Earth, EVE, EQ1 and Readers Digest bastards keep mailing me crap and I cant shake em,moved countries twice for Christ's sake. |

No it won't be a WoW killer. It's a decent game but no WoW killer.
And if people would stop looking for MMOs to kill WoW then perhaps we'd get some better quality MMOs on the market.

If it was my team I'd be cool with that :P Btw WOW will never beat the real king Super Mario Bros over 40 million copies sold, and thats just the original :P |

Everytime someone makes a stupid topic about "the WoW killer" god kills a kitten. Kittens killed this way = 5,287,908 If you become obsessed with something you're chasing, there's a good chance you'll forget why you're chasing it. |

Short answer : NO
WoW has lasted long enough for people to get sick of it, play 3-4 other games, come back to it again and shake their heads saying to themselves. "Blizzard just keeps on impressing us." When Blizz goes public with SCOnline or WoWII, then thats when we will start to see the original start dieing down. |

Are you serious??? (*Mental note: Must start making WoW killer threads.*) Death to the felines! |

every person that makes a thread about the next wow killer should be terminated. |

Some interesting ideas...
I've always seen it as when someone says "this game is a wow killer" it pretty much translates to "this game will be an epic failure". I'm not quite sure why that is.. but it seems to be pretty consistent so far.
That's just a general observation.. not a prediction. Being able to choose the skills you want to use, offers much less variety than pre-made class based systems. -Future Game Developer |

lol are you kidding me? With Star Wars and DC Universe coming out do you think Champions has a chance? |
|

I'm in the beta but it doesn't really feel like anything special. Can't say anything due to the NDA, obviously, but yeah it didn't catch me the same way Aion did. Of course that may be up to total personal preference.

Heck yah, WoW is going to go into a downward spiral fast because of Champions Online. Everyone knows this. |
|
|
I'm excited for Champions Online, I really am. But I just want to throw this out there.. Anyone who talks about or is looking for a "WoW Killer" is talking garbage. There will never be a "wow killer", and there doesn't have to be. Stop looking for it. EQ1 survived WoW, hell it even survived EQ2, people still play it and have fun. The only thing that can kill an MMO is it's own dev team. Heck look at all the stuff that happened to SWG and it's still going technically. So give it up. If you're talking about WoW-Killers, you probably don't understand MMOs as well as you think you do. Bring it on down now. |

Procrastinators of the World Unite... you know, not right now... whenever you get around to it. |
Short answer? No. It's a niche game. It's not a WoW-killer, if by "WoW-Killer" you mean a game that's going to sink WoW. |

Originally posted by aleos if we keep going down this road soon we can afford a cinder block. Let me get in on this too.. Add my dollar to the pile. To be honest I'd much rather you take said cinder block and drop it on some of the wow fanbase but that's just a personal gripe. I just want to go back to the days where there was honest variety in the genre rather then just some giant juggernaut with a massive population leaving all the other games lacking in proper numbers. Once upon a midnight dreary, while I porn surfed, weak and weary, over many a strange and spurious site of 'hot xxx galore'. While I clicked my fav'rite bookmark, suddenly there came a warning, and my heart was filled with mourning, mourning for my dear amour, " 'Tis not possible!", I muttered, " give me back my free hardcore!"..... quoth the server, "404." |
