I don't care the percentage, it just would add more salt to the wound of "it's a grind game" or "It's easy to lvl up"..... I think it would be reasonable if the grind begins 10 lvls before the top lvl but also, i don't want to play 1 month to lvl the 49-50
Anyway, the real important topic is about xp loss, it's a blooding issue when the game begins to seem like a grind game, then it gets worse. Like Lineage 2, it's a madness to be obliged to play 8 hours to recover yourself from a death, that can be in PVP or just accidental in PVE or whatever..... even a XP penalty in PVP it's a drawback from playing PVP for fun.
I think the current PVP penalties for low-level killers are fair, but i don't see the point in XP loss (i don't mean that i'm a low-level killer, probably i won't play PVP until i see the RvR in the Abyss)
PS For more info, i played WoW since the Pre-BC but i never reached lvl 60 before the expansion. I achieved the top lvl in the Burning Crusade and it was hard due to i'm a casual and also sometimes i don't have time for playing. I don't want the idea of "you have 3 hours of spare time, so it's better that you begin to lvl up your character RIGHT NOW, SOLDIER"

You don't lose XP when you are killed in PvP. Edit: @poster above it's more like 60% you can buy back, not 90%

Also i assume that you won't loss XP if you are ganked by anyone of the opposite faction.... seems fair. And be able to buy the 60% of the loss XP looks cool. It's just a touch of attention that says "keep an eye on the screen dude"
But what percentage of the XP to lvl up you lose when dying in PVE? 3%..... 4 hours of play... (i think 1 hour is fair but more is grindy)
PS Do you also lose XP at max lvl when fighting end-game bosses? It can be a great drawback because of the time needed to lvl up from 49.... even with a little percentage of penalty. I think it would be fair that you can't fall from your lvl because of a death, in that case, if you are 50 and you die, you can't fall to 49

The game is easy to learn and play. You have to pay attention. If you die because your stupid, you pay for it. I love this game. This is not a bad aspect, it's a good aspect. It teaches players to learn their class. No you cannot lose a level from debt. |

Oh you can't level down... something I hated in FFXI.

Lets just say you won't be thinking of your EXP when you die. You'll be either crying because of lost Abyss Points or Kinah (Gold). Some people died so much in beta by the time they hit 30 they couldn't buy anything while I was sitting there easily with enough to buy my level 30 wings for 1mill Kinah. |

The class you play can be a HUGE difference on money. You play a caster you are going to spend a lot on Mana Potions. Otherwise your going to be sitting a lot waiting. My melee toons had LOTS of kinah. My casters were broke all the time. Something to think about. |

mmm, resting, another interesting topic, i should open a new thread but the answer probably will be 1 post or 2 so i'll ask here
How is the resting (Hp and mana) in Aion?
Is it like WoW, where you just needed 1 meal and 1 drink to regain full HP and Mana, or it'll be like Lineage 2, where you needed potions or at lower lvls (specially casters, that was a pain in the ass) you must sit down and wait a lot of time till the bars are completely filled again?
Seems that drinking and eating is a more balanced way (between reality and gameplay) to recover yourself than drinking 5 potions

Altrus order the game from amazon, play the next beta, if you don't like it cancel your order.
Nothing is easier and you get FIRST HAND experience.
it's silly to rely on the words of others, especially on these forums. |

In a nutshell: You resurrect at the place you bound yourself to. You lose exp, but can buy it back for a marginal amount at the place where you bound yourself to (or other bind locations). There is no durability damage, since there is no durability. There is a minor res sickness that incapacitates you for a short duration (not as long as WoW's res sickness) and impairs your run speed.
This is a sequence of characters intended to produce some profound mental effect, but it has failed. |

It's actually quite forced. If you don't pay, when you die, you will build up several minutes of resurection sickness. Whereas paying cures that and having a small debt causes only a 30 second ressurection sickness which is important in pvp zones. |

Interesting.... I also saw that chanters have skill to push mana regen, so it'd be interesting to have at least 1 in your party and lvl-up with some friends

The game does have consequences if you die. I like that. You have to learn your class and know when to run. You will go broke if your the type of player that charges into a pack of mobs and die. You will spawn at your bind point. The soul healer there can heal your xp for a fee. The higher he level the more you pay. At level 27 it is 10,000 kinah. The mobs do not chase you far. |

Dust and food is more cost efficient than potions, in terms of regenning. I see potions as the "oh shit, need lots of mana fast" button. While I was using the dust skill after every skill and could go on killing for hours without resting. |
