I  dont mind instanced housing, but I dont like being forced to buy a house to have one.  I would like to see a few huge instanced areas of open land where i can build a house.  U would have collect the materials or buy them from a vender or other player.  My idea is more like A Tale In The Desert style of building but not in so much detail.  What i mean is u select the size and style of house u want to build and where u want to build it, then u load the materials as u get them.  But u dont have as many steps to get the materials from scratch.  I myself dont mind getting the materials the way A Tale in the Desert does it but I know how whiny some people can be if they have to think to do something.  Also players could build a shop to sell furniture or weapons or whatever.  Not sure if players should be able to start their own towns like in SWG.  If able to start a town should each race be forced to live sepreatly or allow them to live together.  Because this is the lotr, they may have to be seprate, but i know people will complain about this.

I think that is a great idea. I doubt that the Turbine team would take the time to make a new system that great while they still are trying to finish the world of Middle Earth. I like the idea and I understand where you are coming from but I think we will have to wait for a couple more expansions before they will finally do something like that.

hire the sims's team to do that system for us XD

but its a nice idea, hobbits would have to dig to build a house, elves could live in the trees...

The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over while expecting different results.

Welll I hate to say this housing is not on the top of the list for them. I like my house, but I hate the hooks that you have in order to place stuff. I wish we could have housing like EQ2 or SWG were you could place a house almost anywere and customize it to your liking.  Housing in LOTRO is just one thing for me and most players, and that is the additional storage places.

Agree.

I love having a house but the hooks feel like really old design. Still, it beats living at an Inn for a decade I guess.

I would love getting rid of this stupid hook system too.

But, I kind of like the way housing is right now. Straight forward, quick. It's an in-and-out thing which is the way I like it. Not to mention were playing in established LOTR locations, many houses would have already been built and towns/cities/neighborhoods made. They would also not be able to allow you place a human/Bree style house in Celondim, be kind of odd :/

I ain't a fan of the LotRO Housing.  Don't like the "neighborhood system", don't like the hooks, don't like the prices and the possibility of losing my stuff if i don't play for a bit.  Yeah, I know, they supposedly fixed that, but one of my friend's still lost his stuff...

Me and the girl are big fans of the EQ2 housing.  I even admit to having spent time shopping and crafting for and decorating my places.  Sure it's crappy to share a door with everyone, but I like living in town and not into some unlore, tacked on town.

I like so many features of LotRO, just not the housing.

The housing has always been a big blunder for Lotro. It is sad to see little to no attnetion to request of the players about this. We had over 2 thousand people between many of the servers join a forum post on Lotro to get their attention which just ignored and eventually deleted, or perhaps just hidden from view. This going with the decline in customer support as of recent has been quite disturbing. It seems that Lotro is following the shoes of Verant. The problem with resting on the idea of once having a good name, is when the people find out you are no longer holding that standard, it is a huge disappointment.

Two thousand players out of how many who maintain a subscription? If there are more than 200,000 players then your group represents approximately 1% of the playing population.  They are not going to replace, rework or otherwise muddle with housing when such a small percentage of the players complained about it.

I cannot comment on your complaints regarding customer support as I have not had any recent dealings with them, except to say that in the encounters I have had with customer support, I never had a problem with them.

I use skooma so that I can work harder and longer and make more money so I can buy more skooma. I don't see a problem.

I actually feel the way housing was in SWG really broke the emersion. I remember on launch day running around Tatooine in the middle of the desert killing womprats with lowbie pistol. Shortly after crafters started making housing and guild halls, the whole planet turned into a suburb. I would hate to be trekking through the suburb of Middle Earth. I do admit I hate the hooking system in the current housing design though. If you could at least decorate like in EQ2/SWG, that would be great.

This is actually based on something that happened in early 2008. And you are reffering to a number of Subs sold, not active. The number of people was accumilated in a matter of 3 weeks or so. Given enough time, it would have been quite larger. The housing is not an upgrade from games 2 online gaming  generations back, other than the graphics.

I had said in the past how the Lotro CS was the best I had worked with, but as of recent, it had become something other. I am hearing my dealings with them are not uncommon from a few friends, but they shrug it off. I was told to just play the game for the friendships and ignore the bad service. It troubles me that it is okay to treat people rudely and still get their bussiness. I am waiting for Turbine to respond to the recent interaction I had, as I think I probably got the lower end of the spectrum. I find it hard to believe such behavior is anyones standard.
