Forgive me for thinking this, but seriously. Does anyone honestly think the classes are balanced in this game? Cleric's, I truly feel for them. Those first 20 levels are a bitch. Forget soloing. Best find a Templar and stick to them like glue. This game needs some serious class balancing. Don't get me talking about the gimmicky wings they added. Why give players wings with such limited use? Seriously. Can anyone answer me this? What purpose does it serve? Abyss is the only place for good PvP. That will get old. Fighting in the same zone, night after night. ::shakes her head:: Even we that played Planetside had more maps to choose from. If I wished to fight for the same zone over and over again I'll play BF2 Strike at Karkand. At least it is fun. A prediction. 3 months max after release people will be bitching about the lameness of this game and how poorly it was designed. Just like they did for AoC, WAR and DFO. ^_^ My opinion.
Why is it that every Aion forum I go on lately your on it bashing it? You just took the swimming argument directly from another forum that was created for that issue. Especially since it’s clear you have no intention of playing the game at all. Another poster clearly already pulled you on the fact that you’re a big eve player & have no interest in the none sandbox mmo’s. So I ask you why?

Nope Just been waiting on something to replace ffxi and this is definately it. People need to pay attention to the developers of these games and there past games. I have literally played them all for at least 30 days and NcSoft held my attention the longest followed by Square Enix, SWG pre cu was great as well. Looking at history these developers put out some decent games. Just take time for one to come along. And all I was saying is that I'm happy with Aion. So all the other BS comments about you not liking it are Dismissed!!! BTW this is an Aion forum so shoo fly. |

If someone comes here and says they are happy with a game why must these vampires come along and try to ruins it?
I honestly dont understand what they want, if the guy thinks this is a great game and is having fun let him, if you dont like it move along, just stop being so damn arrogant and let people have different opinions than yours. This is indeed a great game, and im sure we will have loads of fun playing it, let them stay here bitching about this and other games in the meanwhile... |

That is the design of the game. Is not lack of polish, but intended. Is not in any "TODO" list. Is done. But you may not like it. Then the word here is "I dislike it", and not "It lack polish". |

So, from what I can gather, don't play this game because you can't swim.
You're right. I can't recall how many countless hours I spent swimming in other MMO's and how much I enjoyed quests that involved swimming! /sarcasm |

I think the game is unique and has kept me addictively playing since my early days of EQ, no other game since, has made me feel this way. I agree that the Scout is a tough class to play, as for the wings, I love it.
For all those who are enjoying it, great, glad to be on board. |

So you MMO elitists keep waiting for whatever it is you think an MMO should be i will be playing Aion. After my third beta i have seen some group stuff and have joined a guild. Next stop, the Abyss :) |

One word? SAFARI. This is the first game since Anarchy Online and AC2 where I've needed a team for outdoor questing and hunting and we've still managed to wipe now and then. The main thing I hate about modern MMOs is how I find myself mostly soloing except underground or in instances. There have been exceptions. Jintha'Alor in WoW's Hinterlands, some of the orc camps in EQ2. I've grown so tired of having to choose between instances and solo play, and then not being able to team with people because of level differences or quest chains. Something about Aion makes that stuff (so far) not matter too much. I off-healed for a much higher level group, we weren't all on the same quest, no one gave a shit - probably in large part because for once the ordinary outdoor fare is actually challenging and dangerous. There are a lot of things that aren't up my alley about this game, but I'm sold on it. If I want to play with just my friends, I've got Left 4 Dead and Starcraft for that. When I play an MMO, I want to play with everyone, and thus far that's very much the flavor of this game. einexile the meek |

And there folks is the root of your problem, WoW has dumbed you down to point where you can't except any game that has any complication or risk. Aion has both. WoW has taught you that all PvP should be in a shoe box and an instanced honor/arena rating grind, you have learned to except this failure of meaningless entertainment. WoW's community is the worse in any game i have ever played and you are a part of "that" - all the pieces of this puzzle are falling together :))) I mean when the trolls need to resort to not being able to swim as their best case for not playing Aion, you know the game is in amazing shape. Don't let me tell how good Aion is, just ask the 3.5 million+ people that are playing in asia after only 8 months ... success breeds haters, Aion is a success.
Simple question for you to ponder..... would you rather eat?
Mcdonalds?
Or the lobster....?

Well, your theory seems a bit flawed. Im not saying that they dont have right to express their opinion, what i am saying is that someone came to the forum to say they were enjoying the game, and he never said that the other people should also enjoy it, but the responses he got was from people saying that he was mistaken in liking the game. Fact is, the OP never tried to make others think like him, neither did I, but all the trolls on this thread are certainly trying to make those who enjoy it stop liking the game. |

Have played in 2 closed beta weekends so far and the game is great. Levelling with a chanter has been easy and fun and I have not heard too many complaints on the other classes. It is much more important the classes are balanced towards the endgame for pvp rather than levelling. The quests are pretty standard cookie cutter quests but some have neat cutscenes and some are a little different. All pretty standard but more than acceptable. Some outdoor quests starting at around lvl 17 for me required a group which I actually enjoyed very much as I enjoy being in groups. I am not concerned about not being able to swim (I can fly, I don't need to swim :D). The flying and especially the gliding is a lot of fun at least for me. Catching a nice downhill slope allows you to glide pretty far much faster than walking and it is great fun to try and see how far you can get. The graphics have been great so far. While some textures are a little blurry (I was unable to set them to "very high" setting so I am unsure if they are limited in the beta) they are no worse than those found in WoW. The animations, effects, creature and character models and art style are all great. The most impressive thing about the game technically is its performance. I was walking around an area with literally a hundred people in the same place and experienced very little slowdown which was absolutely amazing. Crafting was pretty standard but I actually enjoyed it a lot. As I understand you can pick up all of the crafting skills and level them up quite a bit but you can only max out one. You do not need to grind materials to craft as you can pick up work orders and use provided and store-bought materials to complete them and be rewarded with exp and a random reward (which can sometimes be a new recipe). The crafted items were also pretty useful; the buff food and potions make a lot of difference during combat. Much of the game will depend on the quality, variety and sheer fun of the endgame content. At its worst the game will provide me with at least 1 or 2 months of distraction getting my character to the max level, maxing crafting and doing some rvr. That in itself for a cost of around 60 euros total is pretty good value for money so if the game keeps me busy any longer than that then that is just a bonus. All in all, I would definitely recommend this game based on what I have seen from the lower level gameplay. |
