i'm wondering how long it takes for one to get to level 80.

anyone here mind giving me a rough estimate based on personal experience?

would also like to know what class you played. thanks!

It's pretty much impossible to answer because it depends how you play, it is however very very fast, the fastest proper mmo to max level I've played. Great if you are a casual, bad if you are someone who plays say 20 hours a week and quickly arrive at the boring endgame with little desire to play an alt through the almost exact same content again.

I play every day and I plan to play as a ToS, so I guess it's safe to assume it'll take me less than a month (it took me 3 weeks to get to 80 in WoW, so I'm aiming for less than that!). I rather get to 80 fast with 1 character and then level alts when I get bored with endgame.

It really depend on 3 factor: 1: is this your first toon, 2, your class, 3. PVP or PVE server

Factor 1. If this your first toon, then it might take you longer. Because this game is new to you. There is alot of thing you can do beside get to lv80.

You can Harvest so you can earn some money to buy some gear, (Recommend)

You can also learn a craft(Gem, Armor/weaponsmith/Architect/Alchemist.  (I'm not really recommend to learn any of crafting because it waste your time/money).

You can basically pvp, because this game is not really about Lv80. It was about skill, so dont laugh if a lv70 own a lv80. You can earn pvp xp by kill other player, this way you can earn PVP Gear.

You can do Epic dungeon (usually 6ppl instance) you can farm some rare(blue) gear. It will be fun,

Factor 2. If you are playing rouge/soldier might take little longer. I would say 6-7day ( i have done it with my assassin), if you alway got a partner who can quest with you then it make thing alot easier. So you might even shorten by 1 day. 5-6day. If you are caster(necro/demo) or even healer you might be in an easy mode to lv up to 80.

Factor 3. so basically playing in PVE it more like EASY mode game, while PVP is more medium to Hard difficult) because everyone can kill you, while you questing.

Not that long, but the trip is very painful ! There's always the next Patch with these folks.

It took me 112 hours to get to level 80.

30 hours just grinding from 70 to 80.

It took me about 6 months with my first char.

I'm a family man with a demanding job, so I only have an average of 1-3 hours per day to play.

Have you ever heard about different playstyles? Some people like to level superfast to reach endgame because they think that endgame where is all the content is.Others like to spend time and level at their own pace to fully see all of the game, It doesn't have anything to do with being a "bad" leveler, but everything to do with the person playing it the game he feels he like too. Just because you did it in less then 100 hours doesn't mean that is the amount everyone should be measured after. ;)

OP: As others have said it all depends on your playstyle, how many hours you have availble and also how determined you are to reach 80. Some people play multiple characters side by side and spend a long time to get to 80, others can do it within weeks.

The man has other priorities besides a video game. If you weren't deathly afraid of the sun you might also have other options besides gaming as well.

I agree, it takes about 100 hrs to get to 80. An average MMO player should take no more than a month to get to the highest level in AoC. The shortest and most linear levelling ever...

Listen. The OP asked a question and I aswered. It takes about 100 hours to reach level 80. This is based on my own experience ingame. It can be a bit faster or slower depending on how good you are, but it's about 100 hours on average. If it takes you a lot longer, you are probably doing other things like running around pointlessly etc.

If you want hard scientific data, go to a university or something. This is a gaming forum.

...and yes, I've already been to university. It's a place where relativelly grown people get to understand the need to back up their statements with more than just opinion to be taken seriously by other grown ups, even on a forum.
