I'm almost finished with these Thrawn books (last chapter of third book), and from what I've noticed it all sounds a lot like the main plot for SWTOR. Not that that is a bad thing.

Some examples are the way the empire comes back with new leadership and how the Republic is completely blindsided by it. They start these little skirmishes, take planets back for the empire, attack Coruscant, start a major cloning operation, you see a lot of infighting over leadership and how the Smugglers get screwed and align themselves with the Republic.

All stuff we will see within TOR. What's funny is that years ago this rumor showed up on a dev forum as a April fools joke.

While digging on the Bioware corporate site, I discovered the following incomplete press release.. I went back and it was gone. OMG!!!!

BioWare Corp. Announces partnership with LucasFilm on a New Massively Multiplayer Online RPG Project set in the Star Wars Universe

EDMONTON, Alberta, Canada, April 1, 2006

Canadian videogame developer BioWare Corp. announced today that is has finalized negotiations with LucasFilm to develop a new Massively Multiplayer Online game set in the Star Wars universe.

Tentatively entiteld, "Star War: The Hand of Thrawn", the game will allow fans to progress into the years past the final chapter of the Star Wars lexicon (Return of the Jedi) and on into the imaginative works of writer Timothy Zahn who penned a very successful series set around the post Jedi universe.

Development on this project will occur primarily at recently opened BioWare Austin under the guidance of Gordon Walton who led the development on Star Wars Galaxies project.

The Star Wars community collapsed relatively quickly after Walton departed. "There are jobs aplenty for folks!" said Walton in regards to the conclusion of Star Wars Galaxies. "Alot of that talent has been punished and are very eager to get back to a core vision and an enjoyable experience. We will be happy to have them."

We could only hope for a game series and movie trilogy to be based off of the Thrawn trilogy.

I've always thought of it as the next logical step for the Star Wars IP, and Timothy Zahn does a masterful job writting the books. Although I did think Thrawn as a character was a little too clairvoyant.

I agree with that lol. I actually got annoyed by it at times, still a good read though.

Good to see I wasn't the only one. I can distinctly remember being like "really?....." a couple of times.

I liked Zahn's novels, albeit it has been over a decade since I read them. However, I would actually prefer the game to be in The Old Republic era.
