No, I wasnt being sarcastic because I was refering to accual Warcraft, not the storyline raping money grubbing WoW. The only reason WoW trys to focuses on that crap is cause its trying to make every player feel like they are part of the storyline till they finally down the epic boss and hes back a day later with no affect to the world at all. Mess with the best, Die like the rest |

Originally posted by miropovo Alone in the dark, Bloodrayne, Dungeon siege, all Uwe Boll, you also forgot the House of the dead flick, which managed to screw up zombie flicks (near impossible to do, but hey, Uwe Boll is frackin UWE BOLL, he can destroy anything) and of course, Postal. Then Tunnel Rats, which he touched himself that is an ungodly game so don't touch it. Double Dragon? Eh... could of been worse. Tomb Raider and Wing commander? Never saw it. Max Payne and Hitman were alright, worth the rental and thats it. Silent Hill? I honestly liked it. They managed to keep the psychological horror aspect of it rather well, the story was unique and didn't exactly feel forced. And of course, my buddy PH showed why he's pimp by ripping the clothes, and skin, of a chick with a single pull each. Super Mario Bros? I like that movie still. You couldn't expect them to do some cartoony version, so they decided to make it more dystopian punk. I liked the Goombas in it, they were mindless still, but were more brutish, and Koopah was interesting. And Luigi finally got the girl :P Like you said, RE was pretty good too, like I said, its hard to screw up a zombie flick, and considering that, they handled it all pretty well. (Least it didn't have the 50 spinarounds of just a character firing a random weapon they didn't have like house of the dead had) And Street Fighter? Really? I loved that movie! Bison looked and acted like Bison (unlike that horrible Chun Li flick where he's some blond guy in a suit). Zangief was, well Zangief! And Van Dam as Guile? Badass. I share the same feeling with it as I do the first Mortal Kombat. Both were great, yet their sequels managed to fck up the series big time. Oh, and Dead or Alive. Funny, good, not amazing, but it blew my expectations for it (except for Ayane, her hair just didn't look natural heh).
As for this movie? Well, Sam is directing it, so its almost guaranteed Bruce "Ash" Cambpell will be in it as well. And so far, his movies haven't disappointed me (the worst was Spidy 3, but c'mon, that little dance "emo" parker does is funny) and always have a particular bit of wit and humor to them. If anything, I want to see if the undead will look like Deadites, and how he'll handle Sylvanas (who always seems to be portrayed as the only hot undead chick) if she shows up in it. The movie then, at least, will be guaranteed to be funny, good or bad, I know I'll laugh at least. :D |

I thought Silent Hill was an excellent movie. Blood Rayne, Dungeon Siege.... they were directed by whats his name? Lu Bol or something. I forget. His movies stink to high heaven. Uwe Boll. His movies suck, but I respect him for this: according to IMDb and Wikipedia Boll made headlines by challenging his critics to "put up or shut up". In June 2006, his production company issued a press release stating that Boll would challenge his five harshest critics each to a 10 round boxing match. Invitations were also open to film directors Quentin Tarantino and Roger Avary. To qualify, critics had to have written two extremely negative reviews of Boll, in print or on the Web. In 2005, footage from the fights were to be included on the DVD of his upcoming film Postal. On June 20, 2006, Rich "Lowtax" Kyanka stated on Something Awful that he had been invited by Boll to be the first contestant, after Kyanka reviewed Alone in the Dark. The online gambling site GoldenPalace.com decided to sponsor this event, dubbing it "Raging Boll". The list of five critics stepped into the ring with Boll. It was drawn up in late August 2006, featuring Kyanka, Rue Morgue magazine writer Chris Alexander, webmaster of Cinecutre Carlos Palencia Jimenez-Arguello, Ain't it Cool News writer Jeff Sneider and Chance Minter, amateur boxer and website critic. Boll fought and won against all five participants. The first match took place on September 5, 2006 in Málaga, Spain against Carlos Palencia.[28] The others battled on September 23, 2006 at the Plaza of Nations in Vancouver. |

I remember that too. I also remember him promising to pay for boxing training since he was the only one who has done some boxing. I then remember that the critics never got said boxing training, so they were at an obvious disadvantage.
Besides, before Germany fixed their loophole, he could of made a movie of him crapping on the face of a baby and still make millions. |

I'm curious to see it. Who know maybe it will be great! Just like Lord of the Rings. I think every fan/player will at least be curious bout it and go see it... |

I love Sam Raimi's work when it comes to comedic horror BUT This is something that's near and dear to many along the lines of just anyone taking Tolkien to the big screen. The Warcraft fan base I would imagine is most definitely willing to wait for a quality film. This whole idea could be completely and utterly disasterous on so many levels. I know it would take near a lifetime to create, but I say leave the cinematics up to the same team for Blizzard that made the Lich King trailer. Again LOVE miscellaneous Sam Raimi works, but this is one area where a petition should be sent to Blizzard begging to give the film some artistic justice so Sam Raimi doesn't end up being labeled as the next Uwe Boll. If they stick to the storylines that are already laid out the movie could be incredible. Give a director or studio freedoms of any sort and you're asking for disaster on this one. (And yes the picture is Ted Raimi - Sam's brother - met him in Baltimore - great guy) |

I don't see how anyone can like the Spiderman films. Especially Spiderman 3. I used to be such a huge fan of Warcraft until WoW came out. I can only hope the movie won't destroy anymore of my love.

Blizzard are the talented bunch when it comes to writing and creating CGI movies, Blizzard should themselves produce spin off movies of their games, really, from Starcraft onwards, all of their games have amazing cinematics. Blizzard, do it yourself. |

I have to say, I'm not a big fan of the live action WoW idea. WoW is more set for animation or CGI. I just don't see any studio dropping the dough needed to make the movie on the same artistic level as Lord of the Rings. I could see some producer push for cell shading like in A Scanner Darkly, but that would also be a horrible thought. I thought to myself months ago, that I would totally watch sets of 90min CGI films, that go direct to video. |

I agree, WoW is definately more of an animation/cg type film, this is a theme that started in Warcraft1 and has carried through to WoW. |

I think it'll be a good movie because, just like the game has appeal to a diverse cross-section of society (nerds to jocks play it), the movie will be marketed to the same crowd. The Spiderman movies were some of the highest grossing movies of all time (so Raimi clearly has it in him), LotR was groundbreaking, the Harry Potter movies have all been highly entertaining, very well done and true to the books. So why can't a WoW movie be good, you Chicken Littles! =) There have definitely been some horrid movies based on video games, but Blizzard can front a lot of cash for a decent budget and there are a lot of really awesome special effects on the horizon that seem like they will revolutionize the box office. I was reading an article the other day about some sort of 3D effects that James Cameron is using for his movie "Avatar" (not to be confused with the airbender one.) According to the article, several highly successful directors (including Peter Jackson), after being shown some sample footage from "Avatar", have vowed to do all their future movies in this technology. Stuff like that could really help to make the WoW movie a great success. Also, because I didn't see it linked yet, here is the link to the press release www.blizzard.com/us/press/090721.html Oh, also, Bruce Campbell cameo FTW. |

Yeah Resident Evil was fun, and Silent Hill was pretty good too...I really liked the sound track to those and the Tomb Raider Movies as well ;-) |

I think Blizzard are really trying to treat this project with respect since they anounced the idea of a movie in 2007 and they've still yet to write or cast it so their taking their time. Its set from an Aliance perspective before any of the games so it should be easier to make live action but I think this fact will dissapoint many fans. It will piss hordling's off and they'll be no undead or draenei which is bound to annoy die hard wow fans.
Oh and by the way, mega off topic but

I think it's gonna suck remember the dragon ball movie, that's where I'm thinking, I don't think they'll even be able to capture the essence of Warcraft, an animation would be much better...

I keep praying that this is some terrible late April Fools joke. And thats definitely Ted Raimi, Sams little brother, in that picture. |
